Ladorak was of course not going to say anything to Vingo just yet. He didn't want this marten growing overly concerned for Caden's safety around Luxe. It had been an accident after all, purely unintentional. Dangerous yes...but as a growing kit Caden had recovered more rapidly than an adult would have.
"Oh me? I-I don't really play music." Caden stammered, that mentality to come off as tough and self-sufficient showing through again, even if he hadn't meant for it to happen. He had to admit he had never considered it either. It just seemed....well alien to him. He had heard it before but had never been taught anything about it. Just that it wasn't something he needed to concern himself with.
"I play ocarina myself, though that's a bit more of a haunting sort of sound. It can be used for good tunes though. Lively ones. Heheh, not saying you need to take up an instrument Caden, but it's nothing to be afraid of either." Ladorak spoke, a slight gleam in his eye and a smile upon his features.
Caden considered this. He knew nothing about playing instruments, and thought it looked rather hard. "Well I guess." was all he said, as it perplexed him in all honesty. It did look fun...but weren't jacks supposed to be about fighting and learning sword play like Luxe had said? Music....what an interesting if not completely foreign aspect.

Vingo nodded, a twinkle in his eyes as he considered the prospect of an evening of impromptu music and festivities at Ladorak's home. "Well, we could certainly get some good songs goin' with what we have here. A pennywhistle, ocarina an' lute would make a fine ensemble." He looked down at Caden and winked.
"An' I bet you could drum us out a good beat. I have a small drum in my bag here for just that purpose. It's not too hard to learn a few good rhythms on."
Vingo looked to Luxe, having caught the comment about teaching sword-play. "Are you a weapon's instructor for Caden, Jal Colone?"

'Sounds like fun to me to me Jal's" Luxe looked over at Ladorak. "As long as you're ok with that Jal Fugate." Luxe turned back to Vingo at his question. He shifted his paw's a bit.
"I've taught Caden somethings to do with blades, he's pretty good for his age. Seems to be ready an' willing to do what he has to do learn, even if that includes being plain stubborn." Luxe finished with a smile, not meaning to make him sound mull-headed, just persistent.

Ladorak shrugged. "I had no plans for tonight, I wouldn't mind getting a good tune going. It would do me some good to unwind as well I think. There will be plenty coming up for next year I think, and speaking of which....I should probably venture a bit further inland to find a suitable Christmas tree." the ermine said with a murmur.
Yes...that time of year was approaching...a holiday not celebrated in all corners of the globe. Caden probably had had Giftsday or whatever it had been called back where he came from. Giftsgiving perhaps. At any rate this holiday was similar to that, and he would have to introduce Caden to all the traditions and also get him acquainted with the giving and receiving of presents....though for now he'd mostly just be receiving. He was too young to be thinking about getting gifts for others at the present.
"Well 'm not that stubborn!" Caden said, squinting now to prove his point.
"Hah sure...just persistent. He has good perseverance from what I've heard." Perseverance was one of Ladorak's own virtues, and yes, there was dogged determination as well in the young marten, probably carried over from his mother, though he would have had very little time to have had that imprinted.
"And if we're all set, might I suggest we continue on back to the Fugate residence?" the ermine asked now, cracking a smile as he nodded with his head in the direction of the aforementioned house up on the hill.

Luxe nodded to Ladorak. “I’ll just follow you Sir,” He fell in behind the trio, pausing a moment to lock his shop doors, close the forge doors and grab his set of pennywhistles; as they passed.
((Ugh, short I know, Lad, feel free to auto Luxe to the building.))

Ladorak nodded, and led the way back down that windy dirt road out of town and towards the stone manor on the hill. That house was just so deceptive. It was bigger than the ermine's perceived wealth, which was almost non-existent at this rate. He was only able to afford it from before, but had little else to his name. It was a bitter reminder that he really needed to get back to work and employed again if he was going to turn things around.
Throwing open the front door, Ladorak turned upon his guests with a flourish, and gave them a grin. "I shall return." He said, and began running up the stairs to his chambers, opening a small, carved wooden box that rested on the nightstand next to his bed. Retrieving the ocarina, the ermine bounded back downstairs, fitting the flute up to his mouth.
Beginning to play a lively tune that was fast paced and light, not slow and somber as he usually played. He couldn't explain his sudden mood shift into one of giddiness, but he let it infect him, and he tapped out a tune with his tail on the first step on the stair case, also knocking one of his footpaws on the floor as well, nodding with the flute in his mouth for everybeast else to join in his rapid jig.

Vingo had deposited his bag and lute case upon entering the house, going to where he had been sitting before with Caden and Ladorak. When the stoat returned with his ocarina, the marten jumped up and trotted back to get his instrument.
Returning to the room, plucking the strings to make sure they were still in tune, Vingo listened to Ladorak's song for a moment. Once he was sure he had the key and tempo down, the marten launched into a quick flurry of paw-picking that matched the stoat's lively tune. Simultaneously he tapped out a rhythm with his footpaws, then looked to Caden.
"Think you could pick up the rhythm that I'm tappin' out here, Caden? If you can, join in with it. You can clap or even grab my case an' beat it out on that."

Ladorak thought that a fine idea, but Caden wasn't so sure. Wouldn't he look silly? He had never really tried playing music before, and while he listened carefully to the rhythm that Ladorak and Vingo were tapping out.
Ladorak gave Caden a bit of a friendly nudge with the back of his tail and nodded at the case that Vingo carried around the Lady Sonora in. "Go on Caden." he said briefly before raising his lips back up to the flute to pick up where he'd briefly left off.
Caden gulped, and moved over the Lady Sonora's home, the case they had just picked up. Reaching out and laying his paws on it, the albino hefted it up and began walking with it back over to the gathered ensemble.
Setting it down on the floor, the marten sat cross legged and looked up at Ladorak and Vingo. OK....OK Caden...just get the beat down. He listened to the tapping of Ladorak's tail and Vingo's footpaw. Da-da-dum, da-da-da-da-dum. It wasn't too hard to pick up. OK so....raising his paws, he was about to lower them and then stopped, shaking his head.
"I'll look silly uncle Vin." he finally said, looking up at his uncle now as Ladorak only smiled behind the ocarina.

Vingo grinned at his hesitant nephew. He pulled a silly face at the younger marten. "Then you'll fit right in, eh? None o' us are gonna laugh at you."
He then launched into an impromptu free-verse song that went along with the quick melody Ladorak was piping out on the ocarina.
Oh, h'when I was a little lad My mum did tell me this: "Don't ever make yourself look the fool Or else beasts may laugh at you."
An' so I left home t'join a crew O'fine fightin' mercenaries Always rememberin' my mum's advice. Not a word did I speak For fear o'bein' called a fool.
We traveled 'cross the land Fightin' for our wages But ne'er once did I say a word For fear o'bein' called a fool.
My mates took to callin' me names An' pokin' fun at my good self, For they thought me a silent fool An' a stupid oaf, Too dim to say a word.
An' so I lived my life, Too afraid to say or do Much o'anythin' For fear o'bein' called a fool.
I never got me a lady I never gained any rank I never smiled or sang An' I was called a silly fool by me mates.
So live your life An' don't worry 'bout bein' called silly Or what another might think For if you aren't yourself You're more a fool than anybeast else.

Caden could only sit there with his mouth agape as Vingo made a funny face in his direction and launched into a rollicking free verse based off of Ladorak's tune. How could uncle Vingo bring himself to be so silly? Didn't he have any proper sense of a warrior's inner strength and reservations? A warrior was supposed to be tough, overtly serious, and never given to showing his weaknesses.
But that was all stuff Helandria had taught him. This wasn't Helandria's house and he was no longer in hiding. He was safe with Ladorak, as those that had been hunting him wouldn't even think to look here. Many's the time that Ladorak had told him to forget about Helandria and just start learning to live more openly.
And if Vingo's lyrics were any proof of this, it just went to show that sometimes holding back and being reserved wasn't always the best of options. Others would call HIM a fool for not speaking? Not very likely! He'd stick his fist in the first beast that'd try to get away with calling Caden Freemont a fool! But that wasn't the point here. The point was to just have fun, right? He could do that with Ladorak, Luxe, and Vingo present.
Gulping, the marten listened carefully to what the tune was and how it went, and he watched Ladorak's tail and Vingo's paws. Right....OK....so...it went like this....
Letting his white furred paws do the work for him, Caden began to tap out the beat, bobbing his head a bit to keep time and stick with the rhythm. By the end of Vingo's singing he was working the case just like any old drum, even though he'd never tried this before. So this was what playing music was all about. It wasn't half bad. He found it made his mood feel more relaxed, and even comfortable with doing this.
Ladorak was considering playing a shanty next, but decided to save that particular one until he was at sea. He instead shifted his tune a bit, still keeping it lively but moving at a different time signature now, which meant that Caden had to adjust his drumming. But adjust it he did, picking up the new tune quickly.
The big eared albino looked up at Vingo now, smiling a bit. "I guess this isn't so bad Uncle Vin."
