Cerinus saw two creatures approach him, and his eyes lit up when the mouse recognised just who they were. He waved to them again, and smiled when he saw the concerned looks on their faces. It was nice to finally know that creatures other than Archie cared for him.
"Caden! Elle!," he exclaimed, his whiskers twitching, a sure sign of his delight at seeing his two companions. "I thought at least one of you would have left by now. Thank the seasons that's not the case. Yes, I suppose you could say I'm alright, Elle. Rather nervous about, well, the repercussions of my reactions. Jal Fugate seems a reasonable creature though.
"So here's hoping that if I put in the work - which I swear upon my life that I will do my very best to - I'll still be allowed join. Hi, Caden, I'm actually surprised you're still living, haha. I was sure that injury would have finished you off," he commented ironically, winking at the albino pine marten to make sure his words had the intended effect.
The rodent was learning that sometimes self-deprecation was the only way he could make light of the situation he found himself in. In fact, he thought, I should really try to look on the lighter side of things. If I can't learn to make fun of myself every now and then, I'm... well, no, best not to finish that sentence.
"Oh, before I forget. I don't think you pair have met Archia Mustela yet." The Dibbun introduced his jill weasel carer. "I think she prefers plain old Archie, though."
"Hah, I'll say I do!," the mustelid responded with a soft chuckle, offering her paw to Cerinus' friends. "It's hardly the right time for formalities, right? Pleased to meet you both."

"I hope you didn't wait long. Are you ready to get out of here then?"
"I am," Molly said, leaning back to allowi her cheek to brush against Ladorak's. "I think, after you drop me off, I'll clean up while you do your business. My friend should have something for me to borrow..."
She paused, not comfortable speaking further in the drunken ferret's presence.
Seige was beaming proudly at the two stoats. "Daw," he burbled, stepping back to take in the sight better. Behind him, Spender was gathering snowballs and throwing them off into the bushes, studiously ignoring all adult goings-on.
Suddenly, Seige staggered forward, grasping Molly's paw and shaking it heartily and speaking a mile a minute.
"Mrs. Fugate, luvverly surprise, look a bit dif'rent than I remember but then again, who is this 'andsome fellow, I say, mm? 's funny, wos just puttin' Spender in th'Navy an - "
That was all he could get out before Molly rescued her paw from his grasp and socked him soundly in the jaw with it, sending him twirling to the ground.
"He touched me," she grumbled, looking apologetically up at Ladorak - and nervously at Luxe and Shepard. "Hello," she added, nodding at Luxe.
Spender, having been alerted by the sudden absence of his father's ramblings, turned to watch the action, grinning like the very devil himself. If fighting striplings was exciting, there was only one thing moreso: seeing full-grown adults duking it out.*
* or dooking, in Seige's case.

Caden was a bit crestfallen that Elle's aunt was so difficult to get along with. If only he could take her along with him on the ship somehow....he could only imagine what a household was like living with Elle's aunt. But before he could respond he was yanked over to where Cerinus was reviving. Elle certainly had a strong grip to her!
"Hi Carrow." he said, giving the mouse a small smile when he had been sufficiently dragged within range. He shook his head though, still smiling slightly as Carrow made his remark about his injury. "Actually Carrow, I wasn't really hurt. Ladorak got me out of the way in time." he explained, though much of it was really just a blur in the marten's mind. The fact that Ladorak did that for him though....when he could have died himself....it only complicated things in the albino's perspective. They weren't blood relatives....so why had the ermine done that? He didn't need to go about risking his life for Caden...or did he?
Caden awkwardly wasn't able to accept Archie's paw because he wasn't sure how to properly take a jill's paw. Shake it? Kiss it? Gah! He lacked a proper jack's upbringing! He had no idea about these sorts of things, so he sort of just grasped it but didn't do anything with it before he let go, giving her a nervous smile. "Um actually...I hate to do this but I really have to run. Ladorak's waiting on me. I think the party's just about over so I have to go. I hope to see you in a few days then Carrow and Elle....it really nice to meet you." He said, his hopes of seeing her again falling just a tad due to the fact that her household wasn't exactly accessible. Hmm....perhaps he could try and sneak in though. If he was moving to the city then figuring out a way to enter her manor unobserved might not be so out of reach as he originally supposed.
"So I'll see you two later." he said, knowing the chances of seeing Elle were far less than seeing Carrow. If he only knew.....
Giving the two of them a small wave, he turned about and began to jog over to the door.....
**************
Ladorak reveled in Molly's show of affection, but it didn't last terribly long thanks to what was clearly an inebriated Seige. That ferret....what had he been doing with himself this past decade or so? Spender sure had grown but.....what was the Cielciosk family actually like?
With a great impact Seige was floored by Molly's fist. Cringing, Ladorak was only glad he wasn't on the receiving end of that one. "It's perfectly alright." he told her in a soft, understanding voice when she tried to apologize. "No harm done." he knew Seige could probably take plenty of those in one night, so one wasn't going to take him out.
Turning to Luxe, who had run outside to catch him before he departed, the ermine shrugged. "I'll send you a letter or something. I estimate sometime in March, when the weather and my pelt starts to change. We'll do mornings, to get them used to waking up early, and break in the afternoons. Then perhaps some more training in the evening. I haven't fully decided yet." Ladorak informed him. Caden sprinted up behind Luxe, narrowly avoiding him and skirting around his girth.
"Whoops! Sorry Luxe!" he said, coming to a stop in front of Ladorak. "Ready to go."
"Hey! Before you take off....take care of your ward Jal Fugate." Shepherd moved forward, and clamped Ladorak's paw with his own, much to the ermine's surprise. He pulled him in close, depositing a neatly folded slip of paper into Ladorak's coat pocket, though the ermine didn't notice it at the time. "Would do him some good I think." he said quietly, and let Ladorak go. "Enjoy your stay here in rainy Muggidrear....or in this case snowy Muggidrear, but that'll change soon enough." the long tail said, giving a smirk and a wink.
"Right....well let's go Caden." he put his paw on the kit's back and got him into the carriage. Caden gave Spender a dark look before he vanished into the interior of the vehicle. Helping Molly in as well, Ladorak was the last to enter. Caden had a lot he wished to discuss with Ladorak, but didn't wish to do it in Molly's presence. He sat across from them quietly, his paws clasped in his lap. Shepherd swung the door shut and tapped the side to indicate to the driver that he could get moving.
Cracking the reins, the driver put the coach into motion, and began to pull out of the palace grounds. Some snow was kicked up and onto Seige as it moved away, rather unintentionally. This would be the last snow of the season, as Spring was on the way. Caden was thinking about his new friends, and mostly about Elle....though thoughts of his mother were there too.
Ladorak was thinking about tonight, and wasn't yet aware of the paper that had been deposited in his pocket. For now, the night was over for some, and just beginning for others. It was the next chapter in Ladorak Fugate's life...that of a Post Captain. His enthusiasm for his new job was hardly being contained, and he looked over at Molly with adoration as the carriage rumbled on into the dark night....
