"Democracy eh?," Sciurus replied.
"You don't need to convince me further, Otto. I can completely understand where you're coming from. The right to choose the kind of life you lead is essential, in my opinion. I can certainly see why there's a revolution going on. And as for your part in all this, you were right to do what you did, and you are also right to want to spread freedom to everybeast. I commend you on your efforts, Mr. Kurtz," he said with a grin,"and would be more than happy to assist you."
Sciurus looked around the hypnotist's parlour.
"I would certainly want to set up one of these. Tell me, what would you use your talents for? To aid other creatures?", the squirrel asked.

Otto at first was shocked! Now...here was actually a reasonable beast who not only agreed with what he said, but condoned it! That was.....rather a rarity....well OK not in this atmosphere it wasn't, but travel to any other nation outside Rosferia and you would have been violently repressed for saying such things. He started to feel....proud now, proud that another shared his views.
He beamed, and nodded as Sciurus asked him a question. "Yes...partly that." was the otter's response. "Here, let me show me." He motioned to a sign that that he had hanging behind his counter. It had woodcut letters that were interchangeable and could be made to spell out anything he wished.
"You see I offer a variety of things, but yes, I guess generally speaking they are all about helping beasts." Otto was itching to ask Sciurus something, but held off at the moment as he didn't want to seem demanding or rude. "I can help them relax, I can satisfy their curiosity about it, I can even offer some therapy sessions. Why, did you have something similar in mind for your parlor?"

"Well, those things certainly crossed my mind as I was thinking how I could use my talents for the benefit of other creatures, rather than just putting them under for my enjoyment," Sciurus replied.
"I wouldn't dream of being overly competitive if I got a parlour set up. In fact, you could think of having another hypnotist here as some work being taken off your paws.
...but I'll get around to that another time. For now, I need to figure out what my part in all this revolutionary goings-on could be. As said, I'd be glad to lend a paw."

Otto nearly jumped out of his blue dyed fur at the question. YES! There was MUCH he could do to help them, and Otto was just so eager to introduce this fellow to everyone else that it seemed like now would be the perfect opportunity to try this out.
"Well actually Sciurus, I'd love to have your help! See it turns out that I'm in actuality a member of one of these revolutionary clubs whose goal it is to foster and promote the ideals of the Revolution and discuss modes of how best to get it out and among the populace, as well as how best to help the new government in its time of need. It's called the Society of Friends of the Rights of of Beasts and of the Citizen, or Cordeliers Club for short, as it's in a convent that belonged to some Cordelier sect or something that's now defunct." Otto chuckled, knowing it was probably a lot for the squirrel to take in right away.
"Now I know what you're thinking. Oh dear, a cult that wants to brainwash me but NO! We're just a club of gentlebeasts who meet and discuss things, we're not founded on religion or anything like that, and our motto is 'Liberty, Fraternity, Equality.' We're a bit more moderate than some of the other clubs in the city, and I think you'd like it if you joined. Right now we're trying to organize a home guard to protect the city should war indeed come to our nation. You don't even have to become a member if you don't want to, though at course you won't be able to attend meetings that way, but you can still interact with the club even if you aren't a member."
Otto stopped now to allow the squirrel to digest all of this, especially since he had just fed him a lot in one sitting. "Of course too, if you have any questions for me I'd be happy to answer them to get you sort of caught up with things." he offered now, that light still in his eyes.

"Cordeliers Club? What you just said sounds quite appealing to me," Sciurus replied, honestly.
"I'd like to join the club, Otto, although as far as a home guard as concerned, I don't think I'd suit. You see, I'm a pacifist at heart, and I'd fight only if I had no other options. I'm sure you can accommodate me in some other way, though. I am intrigued."

The otter was smiling in a friendly and good way at Sciurus. "Yes of course....I could never join the military either. I'm like you....don't like physically fighting. But if the brain is involved well heheh, THEN you enter my ballpark." he said, beaming in a knowing way. "But it's more organizing, not necessarily joining. The club itself wouldn't, it's just a program we're currently working on....that and trying to lobby for the complete overthrow of the King." Otto finished with a sort of afterthought.
"Yes....we can definitely accommodate you so long as you're willing to make a change, yes? There's always room for more. Perhaps I could take you tonight if you'd like. It's cold this time of year, and food is short, even in the city. There's been riots from time to time, but nothing too bad. That's only to be expected when you start up a new government. You're going to have shaky times without a doubt. Now forgive me for asking." the otter stopped himself, looking at Sciurus sort of sideways.
"I don't mean to inquire about your personal finances of course, but do you have sufficient capital to open up your own shop? It doesn't take MUCH mind you, but just wondering what your gameplan was." he commented now, his whiskers twitching a bit.

"I most certainly do. You didn't think I'd come unprepared, surely?," the squirrel replied, smiling broadly.
"I hope to hit the ground running, of course. As Cosnair is a large city, I am sure there are plenty of creatures interested in hypnosis. As for having a look at the club tonight, of course, I'd be glad to."

Otto nodded at this "Yes the club, they'd love to meet you I'm sure. There's one in particular I think you'd get along with well, a fellow squirrel like yourself actually, about 4 years old than you I'd say. Very strong willed and passionate. He led the storming of that great prison three years ago actually. He writes a LOT of articles for the club, a very fine beast if I do say so myself." the otter related to Sciurus.
"But about your shop well...do you have a place picked out I wonder? If you don't....would you perhaps care.....to enter in to a partnership with me here? You'd already have the space, and the building, and we could work out all the legal details later if you liked. I'm a member of the Commune too, which is essentially the city government" Otto ran a claw over that silver badge that Sciurus had seen on his lapel earlier to indicate that. "And they're quite the influence in this city. No beast dares cross them, so my shop is quite safe from vandalism and the like, and with the Commune's help, I was able to get a nice neighborhood to boot. We don't have too many public disturbances here...." Otto said, faint memories of last year's demonstration gone wrong wafting briefly in to his head.
Back then troops had fired in to the crowd, and it was unknown how many had actually died. Fifty, maybe more. But that was why he'd wanted a safe neighborhood, and he'd gotten it too. "What do you say?" he asked slowly, unsure what the squirrel wanted. "I can understand perfectly well if you want your own shop my friend." that smile was back on his mouth again as he looked at Sciurus straight on, moving away from his profile view he'd been giving the squirrel up to now.

Sciurus was momentarily lost for words.
"How very generous of you, sir! I haven't found a place I could use just yet, so this would certainly help both of us,. Many paws make light work, as I'm sure you know. Count me in!"

This caused the mustelid to actually laugh. "Hahah! Well.....work isn't massive, nor is it demanding, but sometimes, especially around the holidays, I WILL get a rush, and it would be nice to have an extra set of paws with which to help out. I had considered hiring some extra help, but had never gotten around to it. Think nothing of it." the otter waved a paw dismissively.
"Really. It would give you a place to manage and work until you were ready to get your own place started, maybe if I ever get back in to politics you can have this place actually, now that I think about it. Of course, current law states I can't run for office in the Legislative Assembly, but that might change, I'm not sure. One hulking crocodile, a Milton Dragonis, convinced all of us to take an oath to never run for office in the Assembly. I was a bit disappointed by that one, but I figured it was for the good of the country. It's just.....it's what I really desire to be doing, even more so than this you see."
He cleared his throat, looking up at the clock on the wall. "I don't suppose you're one for politics are you?" the otter asked him, sort of giving the squirrel a lopsided look as he cocked his head to one side.
