Admiral Hood . . . That was one of the . . . Fortunate beasts to attain the hospitality of a Ralandore spy. He had been able to gain that Ladorak resided in Galdea from him, a very helpful creature. But of course, Sieg might wish to keep the information that he had ordered the spy to . . . Ask . . . Admiral Hood some questions just in case he might have felt offended by the sudden appearance of an armed Ralandore spy. They can sometimes be a little over exaggerated.
"If that is what you wish, then I will reside in your house," replied Sieg, his head hitting the window as the carriage hit a rather large bump. It also seemed that Ladorak wished for Siegfried to join the Galdean Navy. Yes, to feel the sea breeze once again, to climb the rigging and to feel the blood of battle coursing through your veins. The light of battle flashed again in Siegfried's eyes, he pawdled the sheathed dagger at his side.
Sieg leaned forward, his brown eyes still burning with a strange fire, a smile on his face. He was going to accept his master's proposal . . . But, his smile soon turned to disappointment . . . You can't go throwing yourself recklessly into battle when marriage awaits you at home. Nor could he leave Lunaesta at the paws of Randel. But . . . He had to serve, the fire burned bright and hot within Siegfried, he clenched his paws into fists.
"I can't, Master . . . I'm going to get married, Master," he said, his eyes cast down to the floor of the carriage. But he looked up, encourage by the memory of Luna . . . Sweet Luna, he longed to return to the tavern to hold her paw . . . To see those lovely eyes, and to feel her soft white fur against his own . . .
But wait! She could, perhaps come with him! But no, she could be slain in battle. If that happened, Siegfried would through himself from the ship and into the roaring sea. The empty spot in his heart that would leave, would be too much for him . . . His life would be worthless . . .

For a moment (and it was only that), Ladorak could see a blaze of battle within his friend's eyes.....but then it was gone. Something was wrong. Marriage? He was stopping because of.....marriage? But then....why had he come all of this way out here? Why had he sought Ladorak Fugate out if only to not join him in combat? Why had he even left the Imperium.
Pursing his lips pensively, Ladorak nodded. "I see.....I understand in that case. I....too am considering marriage.....but only if my significant other can accept the fact that I have two loves. Her....and the sea.....and the sea has always come first. I've never been able to keep myself away from it for very long. If she is unwilling to accept this then I would be unable to offer her my paw in marriage. However....I also have a desire to raise a family.....because I am afraid I would not be able to otherwise." the ermine stated softly.
"However......in your instance I could understand that. If you have someone you love so intensely that wouldn't be able to bear being apart from them whilst serving your country then you're right.....the Navy is not for you. I just.....I'm sorry to hear that.....sorry but also happy for you. I wish you well in your engagement Siegfried." Ladorak spoke the ferret's first name now, still using that soft, almost regretful tone of voice.
"I.....I don't understand something though. Why....are you even here in that case? I assumed you were here for a reason.....beasts just don't leave their homes chasing after another unless they had a very good reason. I had made the assumption, and forgive me for thinking this, but I had made the assumption that you desired to serve with me in my profession. But.....well if that's not it then....why? You keep saying to serve me but Mr. Ronshausen...there is no way...under any circumstances, that I would have you act as a menial servant to me. You are a very good friend...and I would not have you humble yourself before one such as I." Ladorak honestly didn't feel worthy of such adulation. He really wasn't....that good of an ermine anyways, so what possibly made Sieg humble and proverbially prostrate himself before Ladorak?
"Ahem." Ladorak cleared his throat nervously. The very thought of Sieg acting as his personal servant well....it made Ladorak uncomfortable. "So.....is there some business you have with me then? Some reason you came all this way out here? I will try to assist you to the best of my abilities but do this Siegfried.....I moved away from the Imperium for a reason.....I do not want anything further to do with that place, and I've come here to start a new life. If you have business with me then so be it, but know that I have severed all ties with the Imperium now. So.....that leads me to ask you, if you haven't come here to ask for a job, and I certainly hope you haven't come here to place yourself as my servant, for I could never allow you to humble yourself like that for someone like me, then pray tell me....what IS your business with me?" Ladorak asked him, hints of a smile once again playing upon his lips.
It was with intense curiosity that the ermine Commander came to find himself speculating now about what exactly this Ralandore ferret wanted. Surely he didn't come all this way to throw himself at the feet of Ladorak Fugate.....Ladorak.....who couldn't think of a reason in the world why he was worthy of praise from ANYone. Was he.....did he have that much of an impact on Siegfried's life? Did Siegfried see him as some kind of....deity or something? Well maybe not that but....he kept calling him Master. That much was enough to tell Ladorak that something was definitely up. What would he do if that were the case? What would he tell his friend? What did his friend really desire by coming here? The answers he was sure awaited him with the ferret's reply.

"Master, I desire to serve with you not only in your profession . . . but in your life. If you'll permit me." A rather disgruntled ferret replied. He wished it so in all his heart to serve his master. But he could not leave his love alone at the mercy of Randell Terrouge Randulve. He had to protect her, and rid the world of the dirty bilge scum! But wait . . . he was not the only one that could fight. He could hire a mercenary . . . a body guard. Yes, he would hire a body guard! But what would he pay the mercenary with, he could just conjure up a fortune. . . . Or could he? Ralandore? Yes, Ralandore.
"Master, forgive my hastiness. I will serve you, and I will enlist. . . . Under one condition. . . . Could you supply a room for Lunaesta Fair? I could pay with money from Ralandore, that is if you'll except Marks, Master," he said. If Luna could not live with him, he would find somewhere else. He could not leave Luna alone. If he left her for once, Randell would have his way. . . .

Ladorak's ears perked up at this. Really? Sieg would enlist? And serve him....in life? No...Ladorak didn't want to take Sieg on as a servant. The ermine wasn't deserving of that. But there was a condition it seemed....put Luna up. Well....he supposed he could charge them for rent if they wanted to live in the now empty wing of his house. Yes....he could do that couldn't he? If it meant fighting together again then...yes....he could.
Smiling thinly now, Ladorak nodded. "I think....we could arrange something. As for payment, you would have to get your Marks converted to shillings, pence, crowns and guineas, or just pay me in gold, but yes....I think we can work something out Sieg. I'll admit to you that....half pay is not as easy to live off of as you might expect." Ladorak said, flushing a bit under his white fur. He hated to admit he was financially insecure, but it had to be done.
"I could accept rent from you for living in the empty wing of my house. It's separate from the main wing, and not overly huge, but it has a kitchen, bedroom and living room. Once I get back out at sea I probably won't need the rent as the pay will be far better and you're my friend after all, but I guess in order to make ends meet I'll have to accept some form of payment for now, for which I must humbly apologize. My fiancée is well...pregnant, and of course I've taken Caden in." Ladorak gestured to the albino marten kit at his side. "It's going to be a bit of a challenge to get by, but if we all support each other, look out for each other....we should all be able to manage." Ladorak explained, nodding solemnly.
"Also, once we reach Muggidrear, I can petition Admiral Hood to give you an officer's commission. How would Lieutenant do for you Siegfried?" the ermine asked his old friend. Things were starting to work out for the better now....and Ladorak wouldn't have to bid an early goodbye to his former Second Officer so soon it seemed. Of course....all that hinged on Ladorak's being able to secure a position on a ship...and that was doubtful at best. There were about 25 others needing active commands, and in peace time the Navy just couldn't afford to give them ALL jobs. But still....
"It's very good to see you again as well.....Siegfried." Ladorak added as an afterthought, the familiar warmth returning to his voice now as the carriage jolted him to the side a bit before leveling out on the unpaved road to Muggidrear. "Is all that acceptable to you then?" was Ladorak's question to roll up all of his other questions into one.
