"As you wish." Spinfer's eyes followed that shimmering, golden object before him. It seemed to him to be a pocket watch, but the gold on it was catching the light just right so as to hold the stoat's interest.
Back and forth....back and forth....it was rather a gentle, and without question repetitive motion. Spinfer's eyes followed it with ease. How would this feel? Would it really do all the things he had heard hypnosis could do?
It was just a watch after all....wasn't it? Surely it couldn't.....couldn't...oh whatever. The stoat decided to try and watch rather than attempt to figure things out. He would watch....he would might even become entranced.

"As you follow the motions of the pocket watch, I want you to start to relax, Spinfer," Sciurus instructed. The squirrel's voice was lower now. More gentle and soothing, too.
"It'll go a long way towards helping us both... deep breaths, now... slowly, in and out... there's no need for you to feel so tense, my friend. I can see that you're studying the watch quite intently. You like the way it sparkles and shimmers in the afternoon sun, don't you? So just keep watching it... listen to the sound of my voice, as you relax further... with each swing of the pendant, you will feel more at ease..."
Sciurus could take this as slowly as he needed to. Now that the induction had begun in earnest, the squirrel had decided that he was going to relax the stoat quite a lot. The poor creature needed it, if truth be told.

Spinfer continued watching the watch's arc. His eyes were fixed upon it, though by choice of course rather than by compulsion at this point. He did find himself relaxing to an extent, and he did as he was bid, taking a few breaths in and out in order to help get himself a bit more at ease.
Nodding a bit now, the stoat could feel it. A visible relaxtion on his part was coming over his body. His muscles were ever so slightly loosening up, and he did have to admit....the golden gleams of the watch were rather nice to look at.
"More at ease...very well." Spinfer said, his voice still mostly his own. His chest rose in and out, in and out, not deviating now from it's steady rhythm. No need to feel so tense. Perhaps there wasn't any real reason after all.....he would do this....and hopefully be a better stoat for it afterwards.

"You'll feel much better after all this is done, Spinfer," Sciurus said in a soft voice. "I will help to make you feel confident that the decision you're making is the right one. All you need to do, my good stoat, is watch, and listen..."
The squirrel began to swing the pendant in wider arcs now. He knew that Spinfer was slowly becoming captivated by its motions. Sciurus was quite a gentle hypnotist, inducing creatures slowly, and not forcing them under. He could use reason, too, and knew well how to help his subjects feel at peace. That was what Spinfer needed at this point, and both creatures knew this. After all, being unable to speak out against a monarch who knows as well as anybeast that his days are numbered, being forced to stay silent and go along with the opinion of those in power, most surely take its toll on a creature's mind.

Sciurus was quite right in his assessment about Spinfer. All of the accumulated stress of the past year had been built up inside of him, twisting itself around like a knife, causing the stoat to want to scream out and be liberated....but there was no such relief for him yet.
However, with each growing arc of that swaying watch before him, the mustelid....for once....actually did feel like relaxing, like letting himself go so that he could settle down....fall down into this odd spell the squirrel was weaving.
Spinfer's mind was a bit more cloudy....hazy in a way. It didn't seem to be able to form thoughts clearly now without wandering back into focusing on that swaying watch before him. It was so repetitive...so gentle, and the stoat knew he needed this, and so he finally allowed his own control to wane and the squirrel's to wax. No big problem.....no big deal at all.....
As Spinfer was relaxing, Boneparte was continuing his gloomy letter. Those at the top are poor creatures. It must be admitted, when you see things at first paw, that the people are not worth the trouble taken in winning their favor. You know the history of Personza; that of Cosnair is exactly the same; perhaps beasts are here even a little smaller, nastier, more slanderous and censorious. It reflected his views at present on the world at large. Others just weren't worth the effort to him to go out on a limb and try and win their favor. In the end...you were always alone after all.....

"Ah, that's good," Sciurus said, smiling as he noticed that Spinfer was beginning to fall under his spell. "Your worries and anxiety are fading now, I'm sure. With each swing of the pendant, you become ever more relaxed. All the confusion you have felt... all the stress... just let it evaporate..."
The squirrel felt sympathy for the stoat, but he also felt relieved about the inside beast's situation.
"There is hope for you yet, my friend... soon, you will be able to do as you wish, no longer bound to serve under any monarch... we would be delighted to have you, but that is your own decision, in the end..."

It was never ending. That gently rocking motion. Back and forth.....forever catching the light on it`s path. It was so relaxing to the stoat now, for all of his thoughts began to turn upon a bare minimun of things. Namely what Sciurus was saying and of course the swaying watch.
So relaxing.....and so good to let all of his confusion over the past couple of weeks just drift away, as if the wind itself had the power to carry away his own emotions. His mind was blanking out now, and it was becoming harder for Spinfer to focus on any thoughts that might have originated in his mind.
Sciurus was commenting about something now, and Spinfer heard every word, his ears shifted forward a bit towards the squirrel to give the hypnotist his undivided attention. "But you know Sciurus....there is nothing I'd want more than to join your cause."
The stoat's words were even now...controlled....flowing out in a sort of monotone rhythm. It seemed to match the swinging of the watch in a way. "Everything.....everything these past few weeks....it's all just becoming so distant somehow...." he spoke slowly, in a light voice.

"And you should let it, my friend," Sciurus murmured.
"Just you forget everything that's been affecting you so over these past few weeks. Go about your duties, knowing that this will come to an end soon. We are working on something, Spinfer. I say, give it three weeks, and Augustine's rule will have come to an end, and you can live your live how you want it, as a free creature. Keep that in mind, my good stoat..."
The squirrel began to swing the pendant more slowly, knowing that the inside beast was on the verge of falling under his spell.
"You're relaxing further with each swing... becoming more at ease as you follow the pendant's movements, and it sways gently back and forth before you..."
Perhaps I should let the poor creature sleep a while after I'm done, the hypnotist thought. After all, he certainly looks like he needs some rest.

Spinfer`s eyes were struggling to stay open now, yet his mind was able to take in all of the squirrel`s soothing words, and it put the stoat at ease. He finally felt lifted of many of his burdens, and was grateful he had tried this.
"Relaxing..." he whispered out in a low voice. He could do nothing else. He was on the verge of just giving in now after all. It had been immensely relaxing to him, and he couldn`t recall a single time in his life when he`d felt this good before. A large smile was upon his weary face as his head began to sway a bit in time to the watch as well.
And with that....Boneparte had finished his letter. It spoke of his dilemma. Even when he seemed to score a victory...he also lost too. Sure he had managed to clear his name, but it had meant he had had to come back here to do so, and coming back here meant he`d have to rejoin his regiment. It was all....so distressing for him. Rejoining his regiment meant he wouldn`t be able to go back to Personza with his family. They needed him to bring in the paychecks, and yet he didn`t want to be here doing that either.
His rich uncle`s money had only lasted so long. The meerkat had thought it impossible that it would ever run out....and yet run out it had. He was getting his paychecks again, but it was serving a nation he cared little for. Shoving his paws into his pockets, the meerkat began to walk along the pool, having carefully folded the letter and put it away before he started walking of course. Her was heading in the direction of Sciurus and Spinfer, but couldn`t yet see them as they were behind some trees.

"Ah, I knew you would enjoy this this, my tired stoat friend," Sciurus said in a soft voice, a friendly smile upon his face as he continued to swing the pendant slowly from side to side.
"I will let you sleep soon, but first I need you to tell me all that you can think of that's been troubling you lately. It is my profession after all; creatures come to me looking for help, and I do my best to give it to them, and I shall do the same for you. I will help to relax you even further by helping you to deal with any other worries you have. I can see that it's what you need the most at the moment. I'm quite concerned for you, to tell the truth..."
