Noel was walking about the ship, wanting to see how it was run in his absence. Apparently very carefully, he couldn't find anything to badly wrong, the most was a cabinjack who was constantly underfoot, but that could be dealt with in time, and plenty of jobs just for him to do...
Noel had stopped by the mainmast by the time Gavin appeared on deck again, talking with several of the sailors about the shortage. He waved a paw for the First Lt to join him.
"You were saying Clef?"

Gavin moved over to join his Captain. Spring was on the way, and they could put to see probably close to Summer. The zorilla knew that their mission would be vital, and that soon they would be crossing the seas, hopefully bringing the Welkin Navy to battle and defeating it...though preservation of their own Navy came first.
"Captain sir. I've finished the business with the Purser. I figure it will take a few months to get the ship sea ready, but by the time that happens the fleet itself should be ready to sail." He informed his commanding officer. "Are there any other duties you would like me to fulfill, or are we essentially off duty for now? I'll be running to the ship from now on every few days to make sure things are running smoothly. Oh...I wasn't aware you were speaking with someone, my apologies Captain."
The striped polecat saluted sheepishly and put a lid on his speech. He needed to be more observant in the future....this sort of thing could be important after all.

"Well, Sir, like I told you, Most of me boy's are ok with the shortages, but its starting to wear on them, the no shoes bit." He scrubbed a paw across his brow. "Sir, I need to be getting back to me crew."
Noel nodded to him. "Of course Petty Officer. Back to your duties." Clef tugged his forelock and scampered back to his duty station. Noel turned to Gavin.
"Its quite alright Mr. Stryker, I was finished there any way." Noel started back to the top deck, already planning a way to get the needed supplies from his father.
"Now, if you'll excuse me Mr Stryker, I have some letters to write... Carry on about you duties." Noel made his way up the stairs, and into his stateroom, taking his seat behind the desk, and beginning to write out three missives, one to Elana, one to his Step-mother, and one to his father.
Awhile later, he heard a soft tapping on his door. "Come in Mic, you've always had good timing." Noel smiled, then held up the three missives. "In the morning I will need you to send these." Noel stifled a yawn. "And morning comes early at sea."
Noel walked to his bay window, watching the final rays of the sun disappear through his open window. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
"The sea... at last..."
