Jayd was very observant but it didn't take a genius to figure out that Ladorak was very upset. She was patient and kind, listening as he spoke to her with a voice that almost seemed trembling. Since she's known him she has never seen this side of him. Indeed she was learning many things about him on this trip.
The femme continued to massage his shoulder. He was also aware of the state that he put their relationship in this evening by pursuing things that should not weigh so heavily upon his mind. Then again... Jayd knew that he had to come to grips with his past and that he seemed to be a rather sensitive male. At times she would have to be the strong one, as she was doing at this very moment.
"I'm sorry I interrupted tonight for that. I guess....I guess kits are sort of my weakness....even troubled ones like Caden." he shook his head. "It's funny because....I used to be involved in an orphanage, before it burned down at least. I guess that's another thing I haven't told you. Yeah I garden, and read, and go hunting, but I also.....have this affinity for kits, especially kits who need help in getting better lives. Sorry...I didn't mean to ramble off like that. I ruined your night for something....pfft, like that."
Many things were learned about Ladorak by Jayd on this evening. She learned that he use to work in an orphanage, that he liked gardening and hunting but that he also had a soft spot for kits. This was a good thing because Jayd, since meeting him, could feel her biological clock begin to tick, very loudly in her mind's ear.
Ladorak stood and peered down at her. His gaze was usually piercing but even more so now since he was filled to the brim with all sorts of emotions. Tenderly she smiled up at him and then pressed herself into his body, pinning him against the wall as she nestled her cheek into his chest. "It's alright Ladorak. I completely understand that you need to come to grips with some things in your past, just like I do." Her arms were loving and her voice rather soothing. She looked up at him again. "Where is Caden now? Have you learned of his where-abouts?" Obviously Jayd was now concerned about the kit as well.

Ladorak sank in to her embrace, not rejecting it as he might have done in the past. He held her close to his own body as well, turning some things over in his mind as he scanned the room. "Actually.....I didn't. I'm not sure where he'd be. I'd hate to think of him falling in to the clutches of the Ullyanovs but....perhaps....there are several places he could be."
The ermine contemplated this for a moment, taking time to process and digest it all. "I would only vaguely know, but if I went back there I might be able to find out....still....I'm not sure I want to go back....well no...that's not true, not sure I CAN." Ladorak corrected himself. "It's.....difficult of course, for me, and for the situation and circumstances I left under. I left to forget, not get drawn back in to that place."
He rubbed his cheek fur up against the top of her head, momentarily flattening her ears but not in a harmful way. "Hmmm...." that last part was more of an exhale than anything else. "Sorry once again...maybe I should just forget about this for now. We came here to unwind or at least I needed a bit of a break. Oh what day is it....early February right?" he asked, but almost to himself. "Yes...I have an appointment with Admiral Hood at the end of this month, so that gives us enough time to travel around a bit. Also we have to get that weasel back to where he's going but....I just can't help but feel I've seen him somewhere before."
He stopped talking now, afraid he was drawing too inward upon his own thoughts. "What do you think? Is it worth pursuing.....this information I've picked up at least? I won't...do anything further without your permission. This trip isn't just about me anymore after all." he spoke tenderly, looking down at her and showing he was more than willing to work by her schedule and what she wanted to do as well.
There was a sudden noise from somewhere inside the palace, like a scratching against rocks of some sort, but it was gone fairly quickly, and didn't last more than a few seconds. Ladorak had tensed up a bit upon hearing it, but relaxed after no further sounds could be heard.

Jayd was of good sport as she took all of this in. She 'could' concentrate on what was going on around her and with Ladorak because... well let's face it.. she really didn't have a past that was 'that' troublesome. The only thing that caused it to have a tiny glitch was the fact that many beasts were prejudice against those that are stereo-typed as 'pirates'.
Deeply she sighed as her tender paws ran over Ladorak's broad back, very broad compared to her smaller frame, her ears flattening and separating slightly when the male rubbed his cheek into the top of her head affectionately. He was a very loving stoat once one got to know him and he warmed up to them.
Jayd shook her head then and finally spoke. "Ladorak... I can't imagine a kit running around all alone on this planet. What kind of creature would I be if I turned my back on that?" She stopped and then looked up at him, smiling pleasantly. "If you wish to we should go look for him." Jayd then kissed his cheek softly and then rubbed her cheek into his.

He smiled at her shows of affection, and nodded slowly, cherishing the feel of her paw running up and through his thick, white neck fur. His ermine coat tended to get quite fluffy in the winter time, and it was sort of thing of embarrassment for him as he thought it made him look sort of silly, but at the same time it was the mark of a very fine coat indeed, but that was thing. Ladorak preferred his rough and hardened summer coat to his floofy, soft and puffy winter one.
The black tip of his tail was the only part of his body that wasn't white, and though being in ermine coat was unique, it definitely wasn't Ladorak's favorite if he had to pick. "Alright." he kissed her back, softly upon her lips, his whiskers intermingling with her own before he pulled back. "We'll set out for that land then. But first....I'd like to get some sleep first. Been a long and well....fulfilling day."
He winked at her and pushed off against the wall, walking with her slowly over towards the bed. Yes.....get some sleep and figure out what to do in the morning......when he was more coherent.

Once Jayd gave Ladorak a positive confirmation that it would be fine to do what his heart desired he seemed to settle back down into a calmer male stoat. The femme was already becoming accustomed to Ladorak's mood changes. Indeed she would have to love him for who he was and as well he would have to love her for who she was. No beast was perfect. Jayd herself could be moody, depending on what time of the month it was.
He pushed off the wall and then in turn against her smaller frame. Jayd smiled up at him and failed to do anything but allow him to walk her backward and toward the bed. Ladorak stated that he was tired. Of course the fae would allow him to sleep 'if' that was what he really wanted to do but her paws where still waving over his much larger and much more muscular structure.
Still though Jayd pretended that intimacy was the last thing on her mind. She still conversed with him, inquiring things of him, perhaps to cause him to gain a second wind but also to quench her curiosity. "What about the weasel? Will we drop him off first and the journey to look for the kit?" Really she didn't want the weasel to be with the longer then absolutely necessary.

((OK, finally got the go ahead from Sken. We'll be moving this forward again))
In the morning, Ladorak wandered down to the exterior of the tower, having left Jayd up in the room to get ready. He didn't want to disturb her so early in the morning, but she had been awake when he last left her. The ermine was burying his snout in the paper that he'd picked up from the dockworker the night before.
Hmmmm.....wait a minute.....his heart sank a little bit as he glanced at the front page. Freemont's death had NOT made headlines....but apparently another feline's appointment to the post of mayor had. So...the Ullyanovs really DID hold sway in that blasted harbor now. Such a terrible shame....and a sham to boot. His enemies had come in to the ascendant and had turned his friends against him and well now....this happened. He HAD to get Caden out of there, no question about that. It was imperative now that the little marten be spirited off to safety.
Biting his lip, he heard the approach of some mammal, and realized it was Carnavon....though there was something different about the weasel now. He now had a very prominent lighting streak down his face, a scar of some sorts or a birthmark....and one that Ladorak was all too familiar with. Hold on.....TWO of those things existed?
Looking at him curiously, Ladorak nodded towards his fellow mustelid. "That mark....you didn't have it yesterday." he commented, folding up the paper and closing it upon itself.
"You are correct Jal Fugate." Carnavon nodded back at him. Jal....so he was familiar with the polite form of expression for males in Galdea, and it seemed to prove that he was definitely Galdean.
"Well.....Jal Carnavon." Ladorak responded back. "Care to explain where you got it?"
"I've had it since.....well it's a sort of birthmark you might say." Was the weasel's response. Ladorak raised his brows.
"Birthmark? Then perhaps by some chance are you related to or have heard of one Montegu Sylver? I'm afraid he has the exact same marking upon his own countenance." For just a moment, Carnavon's eyes flashed with...something, but then returned to normal.
"No.....I'm afraid I have not Jal Fugate." was his reply. In reality...his last name was indeed Sylver, but he wasn't going to admit that to the ermine. No sense revealing his identity just yet. Ladorak, for his part, found it exceedingly strange that this chap would have the exact same marking as his somewhat acquaintance Montegu Sylver back at the Galdean Officer's Club. That curious bloke was a weasel too, and a darn good chess player too. Ladorak was good, but he had never been able to beat "Monty" once at the game. It really....aggravated the ermine, and he wondered now if this fellow had some connection with Montegu Sylver back home. "I concealed it from you yesterday as I didn't want to alarm you but...I see no reason to hide it now."
"Fair enough." Ladorak shrugged, and looked to the secluded staircase, wondering if Jayd would be down soon.

Jayd stirred in bed. Yes she was awake but then drifted back into slumber. For some reason she was oddly tired and feeling a bit sick to her stomach. Perhaps she was just hungry.
A light poured through the window and danced upon her face. The femme groaned and then allowed her eyes to open, realizing then that Ladorak wasn't there with her. Quickly she sat up. It almost seemed as though she were panicked.
Jayd's feet hit the cold floor and instantly she scurried about to get dressed and cleaned up, the best that she could. Ladorak would have asked her to remain in the room if he had wanted her to stay and so she felt okay about retreating from their humble abode.
Softly she padded down the steps. Her eyes instantly met with the form of Lad. Jayd smiled but then her smile disappeared when she saw the weasel. It was clear that the fae just didn't care for him to much. Hurriedly she was by Lad's side, grabbing his paw and squeezing it with her own.
They didn't even get to say their proper 'good mornings'. Jayd spoke softly. "When you weren't there this morning I became worried. Is everything alright? Are we leaving this place today?" The fem placed a cheek on his strong bicep as she looked up at him with soft eyes.

"I said I'd be down but...you must've been still asleep I guess." he said, smiling. "I just came down to read the paper. It seems....my enemies only grow stronger. I'm not sure what to do.....once we had back there....may that be the last time I EVER set foot in that land again." he said resolutely and somewhat darkly.
"Good morning Jis....is it Fugate? Pardon me I do not know your name." the weasel said politely.
"No....Jasmyn. Jis Jasmyn." Ladorak explained, blushing slightly at the mention of her having his last name. Not yet....not yet. Possibly sometime in the future....as that probability seemed very real to him at this point.
"Ah, Jis Jasmyn, forgive me." the weasel nodded now, closing his eyes.
"Yes, we'll be leaving here today I think. Any objections if we swing by the Vulpine Imperium quickly before we head back to Galdea?" the ermine asked Carnavon now.
"No....I don't suppose so. So long as we reach Galdea eventually."
"Oh, no danger of not heading back." Ladorak said, giving him a slight smile. "Are you ready then Jayd?" he asked, looking down at her. There wasn't much else for him to do here. It was nice....but he really didn't want to see anything else. He didn't want to lose any more time either with a kit's livelihood on the line.

Jayd also blushed when the weasel assumed that she held Ladorak's last name. Of course Jayd wouldn't mind that... no not at all but she knew that she needed to give Lad time to adjust to having a flame and Jayd wasn't about to push him into anything.
The fem would have answered the weasel but Ladorak did that for her. Jayd simple chuckled and pressed the side of her forehead into his arm once more. Momentarily she hid her face for all to see. Indeed she was still feeling a little sick to her stomach.
"Are you ready then Jayd?" The fae's attention was slightly thwarted by her sick feeling but Lad's voice jerked her back to reality. Perhaps Lad saw the expression on her face when he looked down at her but she placed a smile upon her lips and answered him accordingly. "Oh yes! I'm ready. Perhaps once we are on the ship I can make us some breakfast?" Little did Jayd realize but her sickness just may get worse on the ship, then there would be no hiding it.

"I think that'd be very good, yes." Ladorak smiled in appreciation but didn't notice that she seemed to be slightly...upset or sick over something as well. Maybe it was Carnavon....or something else, but whatever it was would have to wait. Ladorak's mind was already on taking the Red Lotus out, and that couldn't wait. They had to get over there.....try and get to Caden before it was too late.....
*********
The Red Lotus was once again at sea, her red sails full of billowing breezes and being pushed along at a respectable rate. It was about a week later now, the small yacht being able to traverse the ocean at a very good speed. Jayd seemed to have become sick over something, and Ladorak suspected one of two things. Since she had lived aboard a vessel all her life, it couldn't possibly be mal de mer. There was a small chance that it was contaminated food or water.....or....perhaps.....
But he wasn't willing to think that far ahead yet. They were getting close....very close to those shores that he really despised. Not so much the land....just those living in it. Most in fact he didn't harbor any ill feelings towards...it was just a certain set of felines....yes....he never did like cats. Never trusted them. They were too shifty and well.....this had happened. His boss had been killed.....and if he could....they would pay...but no....that's not why he had come here. He had a job to do.....not worry about them.
"I have to admit I've never been here myself." the words came from Carnavon, who was standing beside him at the gunwale. Lights from Bully harbor could be seen in the distance, but they stayed well clear of the harbor entrance. No use going in through the front door....it would be worthless otherwise. The real objective wasn't at the docks. "They always seemed so....backwards."
"Yes....well they're not as old as the continent we live on. They've just started.....not old at all. Still......we have to move quickly. I don't want to stay here for very long. I'll be right back." he excused himself and went down to his cabin, knocking upon the door before entering. "Jayd? How are you feeling?" he asked her. "Well enough to go ashore? If not.....then you should probably just stay aboard. I intend to move as fast as I possibly can. Find Caden, see what his situation is, and get out." he explained to her, lighting a candle to better see him by.
