((Open to any who live in Galdea and want to attend))
Today was the day! Today was the day that Ladorak Fugate would once again become a husband, and take a female as his bride. To describe the stoat's emotions would probably be impossible. He was rather nervous about the whole affair. His last marriage had not endured, and he wanted to tell himself that that was the past....that he would stay devoted and loyal to Jayd Jasmyn as long as he lived. He wanted to get something right...both because he had promised to marry her and because he was going to be a father.
A father....a husband...he was already getting practice with the former by having adopted Caden, but the latter.....well he had pawdled poorly the last time. He wouldn't....he would not make the same mistakes twice. He would remain devoted for as long as he drew air in his lungs. It was like the oath he had taken to defend and serve the King of Galdea. It could not be broken, and he had no intentions of doing so. But....a family beast? Could he really pawdle that? It caused his stomach to turn and twist and do all sort of flips and gyrations.
For the occasion, Ladorak had settled on something simple. He had rented out the pier of Thorpe for the event, and there was a large wedding pavilion that he knew his fiancee was getting ready in down on the beach. She would be led out by Prince Ragnar, King Poynt's son, who would walk her down the "aisle." The aisle in this instance was the Thorpe pier, long enough to serve as a makeshift aisle. The stoat commander had had the pier decked out in row upon row of brilliant white chrysanthemums, stretching out on wooden arches that had been constructed and placed along the length of both sides of the pier for the wedding.
The "aisle" ended at his yacht, the Red Lotus. Her red sails were draped over the masts in a decorative style, tied down tightly so that they wouldn't blow anywhere. They formed a sort of canopy that tumbled down to the sides of the vessel in a manner that similar to a canopy bed, and Ladorak was quite pleased with the arrangement. The town priest would be marrying the two of them once Jayd arrived on the deck of his yacht, and then the two would be husband and wife....jack and jill till death did them part.
Winter was still clinging on despite it being early April, and consequently Ladorak's winter ermine pelt was still on his body for the most part, though there was twinge of dark gray....almost brown on some of it, indicating he WAS molting, but it would be some time probably before his summer coat came in. He was dressed in his Commander's outfit, if only because it was the most resplendent outfit he had. He really lacked in the finer clothing department, and his officer's uniform would suit him just fine for this occasion. He knew Jayd wouldn't mind. Besides, it did make him look rather dashing, and he was sure she would approve.
He stood thus, waiting at the constructed altar as the Red Lotus rocked gently at her berth. It was a rather fine day, not too hot, not too cold. In the mid to upper 50s by his estimate. He stood regally waiting for his bride, his best mammal, Montegu Sylver, standing slightly behind him, ready with the ring. The weasel detective was of course dressed in his best, as he did have the money to throw around on nice suits and the like. Ladorak knew it was like.....having so much money you never had to worry about things like that, but out of the kindness of his heart, Prince Ragnar had offered to put up the money for most of Ladorak's ceremony today.
Any minute now....any minute his gorgeous wife would be emerging and begin the walk down the dock towards him.....any moment.....
-------------------------------------------
Prince Ragnar had not had a drop of alcohol all day. He had kept his word to Jayd to lay off the drinks until the reception started. There was not a hint of the liquid on his breath as he adjusted his Admiral's uniform in the mirror of one of the rooms in the wedding pavilion. In honor of his mentor and his very dear friend, Ragnar had opted to go decked out in his Admiral's attire, knowing full well that he never would have achieved the rank without Ladorak's help. His father, not surprisingly, was not here, nor were his two older brothers, but that didn't bother the young Prince one bit.
He was 26, older than Jayd but younger than Ladorak. To be an Admiral at his age was generally not heard of, but because he had done so well under Ladorak's command he had risen quickly, and rumor was that he was slated to become Grand Admiral of the Fleet if war were to break out again. Such a responsibility for him was something he'd rather not think about on a day like this. His own summer coat was beginning to come out as well, but like Ladorak's it only showed dull brownish-gray on white.
Finally satisfied that he looked the part, he exited his room and strode over to the room that Jayd was getting ready in. Pausing, he took a deep breath and knocked on the jill's door. "Jis Jasmyn?" he called softly to within. "Jis Jasmyn....it's Ragnar. Are you about ready?"

Needless to say but Jayd was a nervous wreck! Her paws were shaking and her stomach was quivering. She took a relaxing bath but even that didn't seem to calm her nerves. It got even worse once she began to slip on her beautiful white wedding gown and then even as she placed the flower ring over her head. Oh she certainly hoped that this got better!
Then suddenly there came a knock at the door. Jayd swallowed hard. She knew that it was the beast that was suppose to walk her down the isle, in this case the dock. She was ready but still she didn't want to open that door. Oh sure she wanted to get married but she also knew that every creature that was out there would be looking at her. After all the bride was the main attraction at weddings. Are they not?
The Stoat-tess managed to open the door and then nod. Without saying a word for fear she may throw up she grabbed her beautiful bouquet of white flowers and then exit her room of sanctuary. Tightly she gripped Ragnar's arm.
Eventually all were signaled that the bride was ready to walk to her husband-to-be. The music started and every beast sat down quickly and was quiet. Soon the double doors opened and there Ladorak Fugate could see his soon-to-be-wife. She was breath taking and everything that a male Stoat could want in a femme. As soon as Jayd saw Lad she instantly calmed down. The only thing on her mind now was getting to him so that she could hold his paw and take their vows.

Ragnar could feel the tension in the jill's arm as she took a rough hold on it. He stood erect though and and held her firmly with his own forearm, guessing that she was probably nervous as he could only imagine. He had not been married yet, though had dated quite a few jills in his time. Wanting to at least be strong for Ladorak's bride, he moved at a pace that he determined would be easy for her. Not too fast, not overtly slow though either.
Ladorak was taken by surprise at the sheer beauty of his fiancee. He hadn't been expecting her to look quite so dazzling in that wedding dress. His heart quickened it's tempo in his chest as Ragnar walked her across the sand and onto the dock, his black polished boots clomping on the wood as they drew ever closer. Oh this was it! He'd been here before but.....this time he wanted it to be permanent. He didn't want to lose what had become the love of his life this time....and he realized he would have much responsibility in ensuring that it would work.
The mostly white furred Ragnar passed by where Caden was sitting, close to the front rows. He squirmed a bit in his seat. The arm was still in a splint as it had not fully healed yet. He didn't really want to be here, because one he hated sitting around for something he cared little about, and two because that blacksmith who had broken his arm was sitting quite close to him. Bryony Bludd, the vet friend of Montegu Sylver, was sitting next to him as his caretaker for this ceremony. She would surreptitiously reach a paw out to remind him to sit still if he started moving about too much.
The albino cub's pink eyes followed the quite white Jayd Jasmyn as she moved up with Prince Ragnar to where Ladorak was standing. He had heard about weddings, but had never actually been to one himself. He didn't really understand what all the fanfare was about, but figured it wasn't something he should waste his time pondering. It was the unification of jack and jill but.....what the significance of it was was lost on him. Besides, he had been told that he could take this splint off soon. Having it on for the past few weeks had annoyed him to no end....but now at long last it seemed finally to be coming to an end. He was still quite bitter at Luxe for having done that, but then again he was still only 11 and couldn't be expected to fully understand everything that had happened to him.
Ladorak's heart was hammering in his chest now, beating fiercely against his ribcage as the one he loved was pawed off to him by Ragnar, who gave him a smile and a nod, trying hard not to outright grin, even though Ladorak went ahead and did it anyway. Taking Jayd's paws in his own, he gave her a brief glance before turning to face the Minister, who was just the local head of Thorpe's church. He was short, a well trimmed and groomed mongoose. Nodding at the both of them, he began the ritual.
"Jacks and jills, greetings to all of you, friends and family. We are gathered here today to celebrate that the lives of Commander Ladorak Diomedes Fugate and Jis Jayd Jasmyn, braided together by a growing love the last few months, will now be joined in marriage.
Up to this point their love has been nurtured privately. In many ways, that deepest connection is private and between them alone, but today, the promise of that bond is made public.
Commander Ladorak Diomedes Fugate and Jis Jayd Jasmyn stand in front of you today, so truly excited about the years of marriage ahead.
Their marriage will be the intertwining of two life stories. As individuals, they have each had a unique and life-shaping past, and now they willingly choose to set aside the solitary exploration of their individual lives to discover who they are in the presence of one another.
We celebrate with them, their arrival at this point in their lives. We are incredibly happy for them that the story of their lives now includes each other. And that their love has brought them and us to the joyous occasion of their marriage ceremony.
Commander Lodorak Diomedes Fugate and Jis Jayd Jasmyn, if you will turn to me: Because you will be safe in marriage, you can risk; because you have been promised a future, you can take extraordinary chances. Because you know you are loved, you can step beyond your fears; because you have been chosen, you can transcend your insecurities. You can make mistakes, knowing the other will be there to catch you. And because mistakes and risks are the very essence of change, of expansion, in marriage you will expand to your fullest capacity. Within the nurturing shelter of marriage, you will continue to grow and develop, so you can discover your individual paths and offer your gifts back to each other and the world. Marriage, then, makes you free-to see, to be seen, to love. Your souls are protected so your hearts can open.
In a sense, the person you marry is a stranger about whom you have a magnificent hunch. This person is someone you love, but her depths, his intimate intricacies, you will come to know only in the long unraveling of time. To get married is to embark on the journey of getting to know each other, of coming to see each other as you really are. This companionship on life's journey is the hallmark of marriage, its natural province, and its sweetest and most fundamental gift.
The contract of marriage is most solemn and is not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and seriously with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. No other human ties are more tender and no other vows more important than those you are about to pledge." he paused now, having addressed both the crowd and the groom and bride. It was time for the vows, and Ladorak would be up to bat first. Noting that the two were still holding paws, he could skip that request and move on to the next one.
"Do you, Commander Ladorak Diomedes Fugate, offer yourself wholly and joyfully, and do you choose Jis Jayd Jasmyn as the jill with whom you will share your life, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, loving what you know of her, and trusting what you do not know yet?" Famous words...a little different as per Ladorak's suggestions. He still knew he didn't know fully everything about Jayd yet....but that was the wonder mystery of it. She by far did not know his full life's story either, but the test of marriage was to accept your spouse fully for who they were....Ladorak had learned that that night at the gala, and thus he had asked the priest to include that in the statement of vows.
Well...this was it. Nodding firmly once, he looked at mongoose's eyes. "I do." he said, keeping his gaze straight ahead, although he desired very much to look down at his bride right now and see her reaction, but he was making a vow, and had to treat it solemnly. The mongoose nodded, satisfied, and turned to Jayd.
"Do you, Jis Jayd Jasmyn, offer yourself wholly and joyfully, and do you choose Commander Ladorak Diomedes Fugate as the jack with whom you will share your life, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, loving what you know of him, and trusting what you do not know yet?" Ladorak's paw squeezed unconsciously around Jayd's as her turn to make her vow now arrived.....

So this was it! They were really getting married! Jayd could hardly believe it and truthfully the only thing that she could think about what the male that stood by her side. She would never admit this but she hardly heard what the minister had said. His voice was like an echo in the dark. She could hear it but it felt more like she was in a dream. What was important though was that she heard the essential parts. Like the part where Ladorak said 'I do' to his vows to take Jayd as his wife.
Time seemed to stand still from there. Jayd just couldn't believe that he said yes. They really loved each other! She was really doing this! There was nothing that she wanted more in the world. Part of her wished that her family could be here to share in this moment with her but the part that was so deeply in love with Ladorak just wanted to finally be married to the male that she would spend the rest of her life with.
Now it was her turn. She wore a big smile and answered him. "I do." Tears filled her eyes as she then turned to Ladorak and reaffirmed her answer with her gaze. She hoped that he could feel her loving attention with her eyes. Jayd wanted him to know by her expression that this was what she's always wanted from the very moment that they met. Softly she squeezed his paw back, hoping to gather his attention.

Luxe smiled quietly from his bench just behind Caden as he watched Jis Jasmyn walk down the aisle, well dock, Luxe mended his statement in his thoughts. She looked really nice in the dress, and Jal Fugate looked so happy that he might burst the buttons on his jacket.
Luxe watched with a large smile as they both took there vows with obvious love for each other, so much so that Luxe thought he could almost feel it radiating from them. Luxe leaned forward, and put a paw on Caden’s right shoulder shoulder, whispering in the kit’s ear as he did. “Well, what do you think of this, your caretaker has a new wife, do you like the idea?”

Ladorak composed himself, wanting to cry...but the ceremony wasn't over just yet. He knew what was coming next. "It's now time to present the rings." the priest was saying. Taking his cue, Monty stepped forward, pawing the first ring to Ladorak, and the second to Jayd.
The golden band gleamed in Ladorak's paw as he carefully wrapped his fingers around it and presented his open left paw, palm down, to Jayd now, as she was the one going first in the presentation of the rings.
"Jis Jayd Jasmyn, as you place the ring on his finger will you repeat after me: May this ring forever be to you the symbol of my growing love. With this ring, I thee wed." were the pastor's words now, waiting patiently for the first ring to be given. Ladorak, for his part, felt as if he could explode with joy. This was it! They were almost there! Almost jack and wife! He was trying desperately to hold the tears back, not wanting to cry until after they had been pronounced as such. He tried to keep his paw as still as he could for her to make her job easier.....
Caden, upon hearing Luxe's voice in his ear, squirmed uncomfortably. He felt the paw on his shoulder, and almost wanted to bite it....except he didn't want to embarrass Ladorak. He figured the stoat would punish him badly if he created a scene....though in reality Ladorak probably would do no such thing. "I...." he said, halting to try and gather his thoughts. Caretaker.....Ladorak was no caretaker of his.....except the sad fact was that like it or not....Caden had to accept this as truth.
In all honesty....memories of his mother were fading. He was only 4....only 4...it had been 7 years since her death....and that was more than half of the albino kit's entire lifetime. He could barely remember anything about his mother now.....just the way she looked and some mannerisms she had...but those memories....even they were becoming foggy and vanishing. He remembered absolutely nothing about his father....Gordon Freemont. He too had died violently, but Caden had not a conscious thought of him as he was only about a year old or so.
His parents....tears started to come to his eyes now as he thought of them. His father he didn't even know, and his mother well....he could barely remember now. He had never seen Helandria as his mother...only a caretaker....but she was gone now too......his head drooped a bit as he sniffled a little. "I don't know...." he said softly. His life just didn't seem fair right now...his parents had both been taken from him when he was so young...and he'd only been living with Ladorak for about 2 months now. He doubted he could get adjusted to life with the stoats so easily but.....what other choice did he have. Was Ladorak really doing this because he cared about Caden.....?
Sniffling again, he looked up as the rings were given to Ladorak and Jayd. "Ladorak....." Caden mumbled. "I don't really....see him as a parent......but....he looks so happy up there....." it initially made Caden's temper flare....but then it subsided. Why get angry at Ladorak's happiness? Because he himself couldn't have happiness? Because his real parents were dead? Caden was coming to realize that he hadn't been alive long enough for his mother to have fully imprinted on him....and such a thought terrified the kit.
Shaking his head, he fidgeted with his paws in his lap. "I guess....I don't know.....I don't....wanna...." he was whispering now, almost barely audible. "forget...mom but.....I can't really...remember too much now....." the tears threatened to spill out, but he blinked to stop them. "I guess I'm....OK....that he's happy...." he finally managed to finish, wringing his paws and the releasing them as he continued to watch the ceremony unfold before him.

They were almost there! Now all that they had left to do was to exchange the rings as a physical token, a sign, of their devotion and love. Nervously now Jayd took the ring and as she repeated the words that she was suppose to say she slipped the ring on Ladorak's finger, smiling widely as she did so. "May this ring forever be to you the symbol of my growing love. With this ring, I thee wed." But Jayd's actions did not stop there. She then lifted his paw to her lips and kissed the ring as the tears now streamed down her face. She could only hope that Ladorak knew what this meant to her.
Now it was his turn. Jayd got her paw ready to stick out there for him to easily slide the circular symbol onto her left ring finger. It would be the symbol that they would wear until death do them part. The ring would serve as a sign of their vow and a sign to others that they were now indeed taken. Jayd liked the last thought since Ladorak would be out and away from her for long periods of time. She wanted all of the single femme's out there to know that his heart belonged to someone else.
The only thing left now was to wait for Ladorak to place his ring on her finger. Now she held her paw up, her whole paw trembling lightly while her stomach was quivering lightly....

"And now Commander Fugate, your ring, with the same words that Jis Jasmyn has just spoken." the priest told Ladorak. Yes....wedding Jayd......it would mean he would be taken now. It would mean the same for her as well. They had agreed to this union with the knowledge that he would sometimes be away from home. But that didn't matter.....all that mattered was that his heart would be bound to her now forever...until he breathed his last at least. Whether that would be in bloody combat upon the deck of a ship or a natural, peaceful death in bed he wasn't sure....but that was the beauty of the future. It was unpredictable.
Taking his ring, he began to slide it over her finger. "May this ring forever be to you the symbol of my growing love. With this ring....I thee wed." he said softly, finally letting the tears blossom. No sense in holding them back now. His own ring was a snug fit...but he'd wanted it that way. She would be able to wear the alexandrite one perhaps on her right finger.
"Pronouncement Before these witnesses, you have joined yourselves in solemn matrimony. May you strive all your lives to meet this commitment with the same love and devotion you now possess. For love is truly the greatest gift we are given to share. Delight in each other's company and never take each other for granted.
By virtue of the authority vested in me by the Kingdom of Galdea and by his Royal Highness King Poynt III… I now pronounce you Jal and Jis Fugate. You may....kiss the bride." were the preacher's final words now, stepping back.
Ladorak grinned now, his eyes a watery miss as he lifted his now wife's veil and leaned in, kissing her firmly, deeply upon her snout as applause broke out from the gathered crowd around them.....

She was happy to see his tears, it meant that he cared and that he was happy to be getting married to her. And Jayd? She felt like the happiest femme in the entire world... the whole universe! Even if it looked strange to others that she seemed much younger then he she would still love him forever and ever.
Jayd's finger accepted the ring gracefully and the kiss as well. She kissed him more deeply then she ever has. It was their first kiss as husband and wife and the female planned on taking every advantage of it. And perhaps yes she was wetting his appetite for their honeymoon.
After the kiss she hugged him deeply and whispered her love into his conical ear, kissing his neck and cheek fondly until he thought that their embrace lasted long enough. Besides they needed to now turn to the crowd so that they could appease them as well.

Luxe watched in silence as the albino kit started to cry. It seemed as if he was cracking, but just a little. Luxe squeezed his shoulder in silent support. He knew what it meant to lose something that meant a lot to you. Maybe not the same way as Caden knew it, but he did.
Luxe was silent for a moment, watching as the rings were exchanged and Ladorak kissed his bride. He didn’t applaud though, deciding to leave a paw on Caden’s shoulder. Luxe didn’t notice it at first, but he was fiddling with a small leather loop that had several small golden plates on it, and each had a name inscribed on it. When he did notice it, he got an idea…
He leaned forward and whispered in Caden’s ear again. “Its good that your happy for him, unhappy beasts have a way of hurting everybeast, I know from experience. But I’ve got an idea on how to help not completely forget your mom, Caden, I'll need to talk to Ladorak, but after I do come see me and I’ll explain it to you. OK?”
((OOC- I edited the last sentence a bit))
