After the rather surprising move of invading the King's Palace a week and a half ago, there has been increasing polarity now within the various factions in the city of Cosnair. 20,000 citizens have gotten together to draft up a petition of admonishment against the 6,000 who marched on the King's Palace on the 20th of June. They have also expressed sympathy for the King and displeasure that the mob chose to act in such a lawless manner by threatening and bullying the King to get their way.
Milton Dragons has angrily responded that this latest demonstration only proves the King's weakness and his unfitness to sit at the head of the country. He has also attacked this petition as being very Middle Class supportive and states that he now suspects deeply the motives for the Middle Class supporting the Revolution. The Public Prosecutor suspected from the start that the only reason the Middle Class would support the Revolution was to line their pockets and then stop their support once they profited off of the situation. Mr. Dragonis now claims that that is exactly why the Middle Classes' support of the Revolution is waning because they've beefed up their own profits and want to now keep things the way they are.
He has also expressed severe doubt over the King's sincerity and was disgusted that the largely Middle Class Legislative Assembly welcomed the King in to their hall with standing ovation when the time came to reaffirm their loyalty to him and the present Constitution. The Legislative Assembly has issued a reprimand of it's own, stating that such lawless behavior will not be tolerated in the future and that the Constitution must be upheld.
The Commune, the local government of Cosnair, is starting to shift it's views with Dragonis's help and becoming far more sympathetic to the poor and working classes and turning a cold shoulder to the middle class. It is doing it's best to ensure support for the lower classes of Cosnair and condemning this latest show of support for the King as belligerent to the survival of the nation. While the Assembly it claims does not support the King in his own right, it does support the current situation and is quite content to rest on it's newly gained profits whilst neglecting the lower classes. Milton Dragonis and Paul Cutter, the influential if reclusive ferret publisher, have both strongly attacked the current situation and state that such a disgusting state of affairs won't last for very long.
Meanwhile, Kostritz and Gradvar continue to argue about which war should be prosecuted first. Kostritz is insisting that Gradvar must honor it's new alliance with Kostritz and focus it's military efforts on Rosferia as it originally promised to do. Kostritz did not build up it's military because it had received assurances from Gradvar that King Frederick would lead the offensive into Rosferia, and consequently Emperor Francis and Kostritz were left woefully unprepared for war when Roseria suddenly decided to force the issue upon them.
King Frederick, for his part, insists that the Delorn invasion of Kradowska is more important to his nation, as he doesn't want Delorn gobbling up too much of Kradowska and would like to see some of that land added to his own Kingdom. Kostritz's response has been rather angry as they remind Gradvar that Kradowska is a harmless neighbor and that Gradvar has a treaty of defense with Kradowska and should honor that treaty. King Frederick as of late has shown little interest in coming to Kradowska's aid however, and the negotiations between Gradvar and Kostritz seem to have hit upon a brick wall for the time being.
Kradowska, for it's part, has drawn it's forces back behind the Bug River as Delorn's massive invasion continues to roll forward. Delorn was held at bay temporarily when Kradowska won a defensive victory a few weeks ago, but Delorn's massive army was too great in numbers to stop for too long, and Kradowska braces itself as it prepares to hold the Bug River crossings against any further advance from Delorn as they slowly inch their way closer and closer to Kradowska's capital......
