The armed camp of 20,000 has reached completion as the last group of National Guard have arrived today from distant Marsay, in the south of Rosferia. As a sort of compromise to the King, Augustine has taken some he feels are more loyal to his cause and is posting them in defense of his palace. In addition to the Scarlet Guard, this has raised his palace security considerably, though it is unknown exactly how many of the National Guard actually are loyal to Augustine and how many desire to see him overthrown.
This latest batch has proven to be particularly vocal in their denunciations of the King. As they left Marsay they vowed to depose him upon their arrival here, and since setting up their camps they have been spreading revolutionary propoganda and have even sent out word through the streets of Cosnair that if a move were to be made to overthrow the King, the unit from Marsay would support any such movement with their entire force. They are almost unanimous in their disapproval of Augustine and have sent a letter to the Legislative Assembly about such a topic a few days before their arrival.
In this letter they claimed that a grave mistake was made in leaving Augustine enough power to override the Assembly's decrees with his veto and state that no one beast should have such a power in Rosferia as it's clearly been proven to be counterproductive to the nation as a whole. They point out that it doesn't make much sense to be destroying the symbols of absolute authority in Rosferia and yet still bend a knee to a King at the same time. If any such movement were to be undertaken to effect the removal of the King (and the unit from Marsay strongly encourages said movement), then it assures Cosnair that it too would be more than willing to join in in any sort of uprising taking place.
Of course, Marquis Gottschalk, the head of the National Guard, has been trying to keep this unit quiet, but their statements have been spreading like wildfire through the camps and most of the Guard have been noted to be expressing discontent and extreme distrust of Augustine and his government.
Yesterday, it should be noted too that Milton Dragonis, Public Prosecutor of Cosnair, has once again stepped into the spotlight after months of vocal inactivity. He addressed the Jacobin Club yesterday, and said that the voices of the people could no longer be ignored. Appealing to necessity, he claims that rather than let themselves be intimidated by Duke Ferdinand's message, the populace should instead defy Gradvar and Ferdinand and attack the King's Palace immediately in order to overthrow the King and even use him as a sort of hostage against Gradvar and Kostritz. With their "supposed reason" for invading Rosferia gone, the only other way Gradvar and Kostritz would be justified in entering Rosferia would be for that of conquest, and Mr. Dragonis claims that deposing the King would present Rosferia's own challenge to the courts of Frederick and Francis.
The crocodile too has called for a true republic for Rosferia to stand in the face of it's enemies, with universal jackhood suffrage for all. There would be no property requirement, nor a money requirement to vote in this republic, Dragonis says. Every beast would have the right to vote for a new body of legislators and no beast would be disbarred from running (except of course if he were a traitor to the nation, as he claims Augustine has become). He went on to say that the National Constituent Assembly created nothing but a problem by giving the King the power of veto over the Legislative Assembly they set up. This problem should be remedied immediately by storming the King's Palace and deposing Augustine in favor of a republic. If the Legislative Assembly be unwilling to endorse this move, then perhaps a new legislative body should take it'S place, he stated.
As for the Gradvar forces themselves, Ferdinand continues to mass his army on the border. It is stated he wishes to raise a force of roughly 50,000 before he sets paw in Rosferia again, and at present he has around 35,000 gathered at his headquarters so far.
It seems that Augustine's days could in fact be numbered as the threat to Rosferia mounts Agitation increases daily in the capital, and it is now expected that something significant will occur within the next few weeks. Cosnair should be able to rest a bit easier now that the 20,000 National Guard have arrived, and efforts to reorganize the regular army have been progressing at a good pace as well. Stay alert for updates. We will do our best to keep you on top of the current situation as new events develop......
