Let it be known that on this date, August 19th, 1792, an army numbering some 50,000 beasts has crossed the Rosferain border from Gradvar and is of right now heading for the border fortresses of Longwy and Dumont. It is known that the ferret monarch of Gradvar, King Frederick II, had arrived at the frontlines of his army at Koblentz and was urging an immediate advance by his cousin and Grand Field Marshall of the Gradvar military, Duke Ferdinand.
Ferdinand had apparently argued that he was not yet ready to advance, but Frederick, fearing for the life of the recently imprisoned Augustine, pushed Ferdinand and eventually ordered him to advance, ready or not. It was at his monarch's behest that Ferdinand ordered his army to mobilize and to cross the Rosferian border. They are to be accompanied by King Frederick and his son, the Crown Prince. Both ferrets are rumored to be looking for glory in the upcoming battles as Frederick II has not yet proven himself on the field of battle.
There are two fortresses blocking the Gradvar Army's advance. One, Dumont, fell earlier this year and is currently under Gradvar occupation. The other, Longwy, was recently fortified in an attempt to put up a delaying force so that the main Rosferian Army can gather in the path of Ferdinand and Cosnair.
General Kellerman with the Army of the Center is awaiting the arrival of the Army of the North, which is now under a new commander. Commissioners arrived at the headquarters of General and Marquis Gilbert Elmdor, the hedgehog commander of the Army of the North. When he was informed that Augustine is no longer on the throne and a new Constitution will soon be going into effect, the hedgehog arrested the commissioners and refused to serve the present government of Rosferia, claiming it was unconstitutional. Unless Augustine is restored to the throne, he refused to have anything to do with the current government.
He implored his army to march with him on Cosnair and restore Augustine to his throne, but by and large they booed and hissed him and he subsequently fled his army, deserting his post and heading for Mordenz. His stated aim was to flee to the shores of Mossflower but upon entering Mordenz he was immediately arrested by the Kostritz Occupation Forces there and after a brief interrogation was thrown into prison by the Kostritz Governor, Duke Albert. It was a rather inglorious end to a rather decorated war hero and his current fate remains unknown.
In order to get the Army of the North on the move, a new General has been promoted to command this important post. The former otter Minister of War, Carian Duross, has been named as commander of the Army of the North and he has immediately set the army in motion, moving it away from the Mordenz border to the Gradvar border, where he will effect a junction with General Kellerman's Army of the Center and assume overall command. He appears to be well liked by his troops and has already managed to raise morale and increase training on the march.
It is unknown when the two opposing forces will come to grips, but all citizens of Rosferia who support the republic are urged to join in the fight and repel the invaders from Rosferia's borders. As always, we will keep you apprised of further developments.....
