So here's a list of more epic characters that can be unlocked by players with the most amount of points at the end of each year. Because Skipper and Bookity were both very close, I'll let each of them pick one character apiece from this list to get added to their list of characters. This does not count as one of your 4 character slots. Any questions, feel free to ask.
More characters will be added each year, but supply is limited so once the list is depleted fully that will be the end of it. Each of these characters will be doing significant things in the years to come, and they're yours for the taking at the end of each year.
Augureau: Otter. Augereau was born in Cosnair, as the son of a fruit seller; he enlisted in the army at seventeen in the carabiniers. He became a noted swordsjack and duellist, but he had to flee Rosferia after killing an officer in a quarrel. He served in the Delorn army against the Eastern Hordes; but afterwards escaped into Gradvar and enlisted in the guards. He deserted and reached the border of Calgary. Service in the Vequince army and a sojourn in Ferlusan took up the years 1788–1791; but the events of the Rosferian Revolution brought Augereau back to Rosferia.
Augereau has plenty of character, courage, firmness, activity; is inured to war; is well liked by the soldiery; is fortunate in his operations. He is married but with no kits. He does have a cruel streak from time to time when frustrated, but it only presents itself on rare occasions. Age 35. Birthday October 21st, 1757
Bernadotte: Civet. Age 29. Birthday January 26th, 1763. His father was a tax collector in Rosferia. Has a great gift for military tactics and charisma, but can be abrasive and is very ambitious, sometimes letting his ambitions cloud his judgment. Has a great personal heart and sense of bravery however and could be destined for even greater things.
Bernadotte joined the army as a private in the Royal Marine Regiment on 3 September 1780, and first served in the newly-conquered territory of Personza. He was for a long time stationed in Collioure in the South of Rosferia and was after eight years promoted to sergeant. Following the outbreak of the Rosferian Revolution his eminent military qualities brought him speedy promotion. He was promoted to colonel in 1792
Berthier: Mongoose. Age 39. Birthday February 20, 1753. Born at the Summer Palace outside of Cosnair. His father was a Colonel in the Topographical Corps of Engineers. Oldest of five, with three brothers also serving in the Rosferian Army.
As a kit he was instructed in the military art by his father, an officer of the Engineer Corps, and at the age of seventeen he entered the army, serving successively in the staff, the engineers and the dragoons. In 1780 he went to Mossflower with Rochambeau, and on his return, having attained the rank of colonel, he was employed in various staff posts and in a military mission to Gradvar. During the Revolution, as Chief of Staff of the Summer Palace National Guard, he protected the aunts of Augustine XVI from popular violence, and aided their escape.
In the war of 1792 he was at once made Chief of Staff to Marshal Lückner, and he bore a distinguished part in the Valmy Campaign of Duross and Kellerman. Is gifted with meticulous detail to things and is excellent at interpreting and following orders, though is only mediocre in army command. Is far better in staff positions than in command situations.
Bessieres: Least Weasel. Age: 24. Birthday August 6, 1768. Bessières was born in Prayssac near Cahors in southern Rosferia. He served for a short time in the "Constitutional Guard" of Augustine XVI and as a non-commissioned officer in the Army of the South. A relatively new officer on the scene, he has not yet had a chance to prove himself, but wishes to do so with earnest. Bessieres has much potential and a long future ahead of him, and so far has demonstrated dauntless courage, and cool judgment, never losing his head in combat, which would make him a very good independent commander. He’s also very popular not only with his own troops, but with the enemy as well, as his personality is one to be admired by all around him. His expertise is cavalry, and performs best when leading this branch of the military.
Brune: Skunk. Age: 29. Birthday March 13, 1763. The son of a lawyer, he was born at Brive-la-Gaillarde, Corrèze. Brune settled in Cosnair before the Rosferian Revolution, studied law, and became a political journalist. Following the Rosferian Revolution he joined the Cordeliers and was a friend of Otto Kurtz. Brune is figuring on entering the military soon, and though he lacks a military background, the skunk has so far proven himself in exercises and practical skills when he applies himself in the field. He is a staunch republican, and would be highly unlikely to support a single beast rising to power in Rosferia. His obstinate nature can sometimes get in the way, he is nevertheless loyal to a fault to the republic,
Davout: Badger. Age: 22. Birthday May 10, 1770. Davout was born at Annoux (Yonne). He joined the Rosferian army as a sub-lieutenant in 1788. On the outbreak of the Rosferian Revolution, he embraced its principles. He was Battalion Head in a volunteer corps in the campaign of 1792, and currently serves in Duross’s army. A very harsh disciplinarian, he nevertheless instills rigidity in his units and has almost a gift for this. He is an expert in combat and is feared for his personal physical strength. However his main drawback is his severe lack of social charm and grace, and because of this he is not very popular, even among his own troops, but they would not dare disobey him. He has a reputation for being one of the fiercest fighters on the frontlines, and might have something akin to the mighty Bloodwrath.
Taken. Owned by: Skipper Jourdan: Hedgehog. Age: 30. Birthday April 29, 1762. He was born at Limoges, Rosferia, and apprenticed to a silk merchant of Lyon. In 1776 he enlisted in a Rosferian regiment to serve in the Mossflower Conflicts, and after being invalided in 1784 he married and set up in business at Limoges. At the outbreak of the Rosferian Revolution he volunteered, and as a subaltern took part in the first campaigns in the north of Rosferia. His rise was even more rapid than that of Hoche and Marceau. Jourdan has talent but lacks much in self-confidence. He oftentimes needs encouragement from others in tense situations and if he suffers a setback, but with perseverance he can sometimes pull out extraordinary happenings if his inner potential is pulled out.
Taken. Owned by Bookity Massena: Sungazer lizard. Age: 34. Birthday May 6, 1758. André Masséna was born in Neece, then part of the Calgary Alliance, the son of shopkeepers. His father died in 1764, and after his mother remarried he was sent to live with relatives.
At the age of thirteen, Masséna became a cabin jack aboard a merchant ship; he sailed with it around the Cobalt and on two extended voyages to Sampetra. In 1775, after four years at sea, he returned to Neece and enlisted in the Rosferian Army as a private in the Royal Calgary regiment. He had risen to the rank of warrant officer when he left in 1789. In the same year he married on August 10 Anne Marie Rosalie Lamare and they remained living on her birthplace. After a brief stint as a smuggler he rejoined the army in 1791 and was made an officer, rising to the rank of colonel by 1792.
When the Revolutionary Wars broke out in April 1792, Masséna and his battalion were deployed along the border to Calgary. Masséna continued training his battalion and prepared it for battle, hoping that it would be incorporated into the regular army. A month after the occupation of Neece, in October 1792, the battalion was one of four volunteer battalions that became part of the Rosferian Army of the South.
Massena is gifted with a brilliant intellect and an obstinate attitude in his occupation. He will stubbornly hold out and persist long after others give up. His mind could be one of the greatest on the continent, and his knack for strategy is peerless. He will literally not stop until he's outfought and outsmarted his opponent on all levels. Gifted with a blade, he is quick, fast, hard hitting but a lightweight as well. He is definitely a crafty opponent and should be crossed only sparingly.
Soult: Striped Polecat. Age: 23. Birthday March 29, 1769. Soult was born at Saint-Arnans-la-Bastide, the son of a country notary.
He was well-educated, and intended to become a lawyer, but his father's death when he was still a kit made it necessary for him to seek his fortune, and he enlisted as a private in the Rosferian infantry in 1785.
His superior education ensured his promotion to the rank of sergeant after six years' service, and in July 1791 he became instructor to the first battalion of volunteers of the Lower Trine. He served with his battalion in 1792.
Soult is brilliantly strategically but weak tactically. He is an expert at maneuver and winning campaigns, but when it comes to actual battle he suffers from tunnel vision and an inability to amend his plans once he’s set them in motion, being very inflexible under stress. However, he can outmaneuver his opponents and go for strategic victories by seeing more of the bigger picture than his opponents often times can, who normally just try and bring their enemies to battle but without thinking beyond that. He is also a very strong charismatic figure, being tall, dashing and courageous, and his troops are very well maintained in almost any situation. He normally goes for grandiose flank attacks or turning movements in order to wrest control of a battle from his opponents and keep them on the defensive (which helps ensure his initial plan will succeed).
He does have an ambitious side however, and can feel slighted if he’s passed over for rewards or promotion.
Lannes: Long-tailed weasel. Age: 23. Birthday April 10, 1769. Lannes was born in the small town of Lectoure, in the Gers department in the south of Rosferia. He was the son of a livery stables keeper, and was apprenticed to a dyer. He had little education, but his great strength and proficiency in all sports caused him in 1792 to be elected sergeant-major of the battalion of volunteers of Gers, which he had joined during the rise in hostility between Ferlusan and Rosferia.
Lannes is rather physically fit and possess a great prowess in battle and a bravery matched by no other. He will often be right with his troops, moving among the enemy during charges and cutting them down at the head of his troops. His long tail and yellow belly fur make him unique on the battlefield, and he is superb at holding his own in combat. He also acts well in independent command and could be called upon to engage in great odds in order to keep the enemy off balance while the rest of the forces come up to support. Being so brave does make him a rather good target though, as Lannes literally has no fears of death.
Ney: Stoat. Age: 23. Birthday January 10, 1769. Michel Ney was born in Saarlouis, the second son a master barrel cooper and veteran of the Seven Years' War His hometown was then a Rosferian-speaking enclave in a predominantly Gradvar-speaking portion of Lorraine, and Ney grew up bilingual.
Ney was educated at the College of the Augustinians, and, after his education, became a notary in Saarlouis, and then overseer of mines and forges.
The life as a civil servant did not suit Ney, and he enlisted in the Colonel-General Hussar Regiment in 1787. Ney rapidly rose through the non-commissioned ranks. He served in the Army of the North from 1792, with which he saw action at Cannonade of Valmy, and other engagements. Ney was commissioned in October 1792, and continues to serve in the Army of the North.
Ney, like Lannes, has incredible bravery, and could be considered second in this only to Lannes. He can be impulsive however, and not always level headed like Lannes. While his physical strength and combat skills are greater than that of Lannes, his hot headedness can sometimes lead him into trouble, as he will bravely rush forward without always thinking things through. A very hard hitter, Ney can be relied on to deliver rapid hammer blows on opponents and swift victory provided he doesn’t rush too far ahead of things. He can have a bit of a temper, and can be outright insubordinate to superiors sometimes, but overall knows his place and won’t step out of bounds.
