The Directory is composed of two legislative bodies, the Council of 500, and the Council of the Ancients. The executive body consists of 5 executives or Directors.
Council of 500: Made up of 500 elected members, with one third being retired each year and new members elected to replace them. They must be at least 25 years of age and own property as well as pay taxes. They can draft up laws but not actually vote on them. They also draft up a list of 50 (or 10) potential Directors but can't vote on which of these 50 (or 10) make the final cut.
Council of the Ancients: Consists of 250 elected members, with one third being retired each year and new members elected to replace them. They must be at least 40 years of age and married, as well as own property and pay taxes. They vote on the drafted laws sent to them by the Council of 500 and either pass or reject them. If rejected, a bill cannot be reintroduced until exactly one year after its rejection. They also vote on which of the list of 50 (or 10) will become the next Director(s) of Rosferia, narrowing the list down to five (or one).
Directory: Consists of five Directors who operate the Ministries of Rosferia and run the country as well as implement the passed laws. They are elected by the Council of Ancients from a list provided by the Council of 500. They must be at least 40 years of age. They are not allowed to attend sessions with the Council of 500 or Council of the Ancients. Each year, one Director is randomly retired by a lottery, and another one will take his place. If a Director has served five years without retirement, he's automatically retired regardless of the lottery.
