"On holiday?" he asked, seeming to find this odd. "Very interesting....I know of next to no beasts who would ever vacation here willingly." He commented. "Sorry, yes I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is...." he paused, as if stopping himself from saying something. "Carnavon." he said at last. "Mortimer Carnavon." he was lying of course, but he doubted she would know that.
"No....I do not live here." he said, running a claw around his knuckles. "You must permit me to explain. You see....it's rather embarrassing to admit to this, but I was shipwrecked here, and have had no way off. I can't really turn to the Mining Ships, as they don't carry passengers and well....I just can't approach them for help anyways." he said, not elaborating further, which was in itself strange.
"Of course, I don't wish to impose. I do wonder though, what exactly is it that you and your....um....forgive me husband or....just friend, do? I only inquire to be on the safe side of course, as I heard this place used to be a pirate haven after all."
The weasel wasn't being honest one bit, though there was truth in his story. He was sounding her out whilst being cryptic on his end at the same time. And if worst came to worst well.....he could always resort to other methods. Ladorak was still off, but should be returning presently as he'd stated earlier. The weasel wanted to glean whatever information he could first before the male got back.

Jayd was becoming rather nervous around the weasel. Inwardly her stomach began to quiver. There was something just 'not' right about this beast and every fiber of her being was being alerted to it. Her eyes strayed down and watched his claws run over his knuckles. She of course wasn't afraid of a fight because she could certainly defend herself but she would really like it if Ladorak would return, and soon.
The femme took a couple of tiny steps back and then dryly chuckled. "Well we do like strange places to holiday at." Oh how she wished that Ladorak was back within her midst. He should be along shortly and it would be then that she would feel more at ease. Surely he'd be able to read this beast better then she. She longed to know if he truly meant harm or if he was innocent about his ways of inquiry.
Their conversation continued though Jayd found that she would say as little as possible to him. She choose her words discretely and she'd certainly keep them vague. And so when he asked what they did Jayd would simply... be... vague... reassuring and certainly not telling him what sort of relationship her and Ladorak had together. "Well I can assure you that we come in peace. My companion should be back soon." Jayd twisted her paws together in worry.

"Come in peace, oh no, no, I meant profession wise." he said, stifling a chuckle at her evasive way of answering. She obviously didn't trust him, and he couldn't fully blame her. He still made no moves to getting any closer to her.
He turned his head slightly though upon hearing bootsteps crunching and echoing from inside the turret that Ladorak had gone in to. Snorting a bit, the weasel made no sudden moves as Ladorak re-emerged in to broad daylight, blinking a bit before growing serious as he saw the stranger close to Jayd.
"Jayd?" he asked, jogging over to her. In his paws were some very white orchids, pale pink centers peeking out from their folds. He had plucked them from a special room up in that tower. "What's going on?" he asked her, stopping by her side and looking the newcomer over.
"I meant no harm to either of you." the weasel said, raising a paw up in a defensive gesture. "I was just inquiring some things about the lady....I've been shipwrecked here after all, and have been looking for a way off when you two fine beasts showed up. Please....I really don't mean any harm." he stated again, looking from one to the other.
Ladorak fixed him with a suspicious stare. "Shipwrecked? Was that the way of it Jayd?" he asked, looking down at her now, his cautious side up again but at the same time his eyes telling her that it would be alright and that she could tell him the truth. The weasel didn't seem threatening....but there was just something about the fellow that Ladorak didn't like, though he could specifically tell what.

Physically and mentally Jayd felt the relief upon seeing Ladorak jogging up to her. It was clear by the appearance of her that she was distressed over the presence of the weasel. The femme nodded and then spoke to the male stoat, noticing the flowers in his paws. "Yes... Inquiries... Questions... And yes he stated that he was shipwrecked here on the island." Her eyes locked with his and with that gaze there was a comfort that washed over her stoat-tess body as she smiled up at him.
Jayd would make no moves toward the stranger. She was leery of him, that much was for certain. There was something about him that she simply just didn't trust. Perhaps it was his mannerism or maybe because he seemed so eager to know more about them, to eager. It could also be that this island was once home to many evil beasts and Jayd's guard was up. Or it could be the combination of all of these things. Either way Jayd would stick close to Ladorak.
Slowly she moved into him, almost as if she wanted him to know, without actually telling him, that she didn't trust this beast any further then she could throw him. To her Ladorak was like a protector and his demeanor stated as such when he showed up and immediately inquired of her the scope of the situation. Softly she cupped her paw into his as she moved into him, her shoulder rubbing against him.

"Alright...alright." Ladorak said, feeling the female pressing against him and into him. "Alright." He reassured her. She was sure acting...nervous. This weasel seemed to have gotten her defenses up, and it was almost as if she were acting as if Ladorak was her guardian or something. He knew his own strengths, and perhaps she saw him as a sort of protector, or a source of safety for her, evident by her actions.
"Here...." he enclosed her paw around the stems of the orchids he had with him. "They're for you. Ublaz grew them in a special room of his palace." he said softly in to her ear. "Now...who are you and what do you want with us?" Ladorak asked.
"Oh nothing good sir....nothing at all....only to share perhaps a room on your fine vessel. I really can't get off any other way. Would you please help a poor, stranded soul." the weasel implored.
"What's wrong with the mining ships? They've been here awhile after all, and about how recent did you say you were shipwrecked?" the stoat asked now.
"Ohhh...about 2 weeks ago I'd say. I lost most of everything when the ship went down....and as for the Mining Consortium....they aren't going my way, and they refused to deviate from their standard courses." Carnavon explained.
"Really? Couldn't you just head with them and then catch a ship back to wherever it is you're headed?" Ladorak asked now.
"No sir....I'd rather not travel with them if it's all the same to you. Where are you folks from?"
"Galdea." Ladorak answered simply. Something seemed to light up in the weasel's eyes now.
"Splendid! That would work out fine! I'd really be in your debt kind sir!" the weasel exclaimed happily.
"I didn't say anything about taking....yet." Ladorak said firmly. "If you could excuse us for a minute?" he began to lead Jayd over to where he had come from, to the solitary tower that jutted up in to the sky like a warped tooth. After making sure that they were a ways up the stairs, Ladorak looked down at her. "Did he do anything to you?" he asked, looking her over. "I want to know your impressions of him as well. You know....I'm not entirely sure....but I just feel like I've seen his face somewhere before." Ladorak said speculatively.

Softly Jayd smiled up at Ladorak when he informed her that it was okay and then even more so when he gently forced the flowers into her paw. Surely now the weasel would see that the female fancied Ladorak. Jayd wondered what sort of speculation he would make from it. Her eyes chanced a glance in the intruders direction before looking back up at Ladorak. She was trying her best to seem nonchalant about this whole thing.
Soon though he was leading her up the stairs. Carefully she stepped and then stood so that her vision could still encompass the weasel. Her brows furrowed slightly when Ladorak questioned her. "No... He never touched me... only with his eyes." She said carefully, looking down for a few seconds as if she were ashamed. Really when she looked upon the male weasel she couldn't help but to feel like his gaze was invading.
Jayd swallowed hard and then adopted a smile as she looked back up at the male that stood before her. "I'm fine... really. It's just... When he looks at me I feel like he can see right through me. He makes my skin crawl and he's much to inquisitive to just merely wanting a ride." Her lithesome shoulders shrugged. "But that's just my opinion. It is your ship and yours to do as you will." The femme found it hard to not allow her eyes to shoot in the weasels direction again. It was almost as if his presence drew her gaze to him.

Ladorak could sense that the weasel made her uncomfortable. He didn't....sense any lust from that male, but then again maybe she was better attuned to picking that sort of thing up than he was. For his part, "Carnavon" was standing idly in the ruins, giving her a small smile when she looked over at him, but otherwise ignoring the two of them.
"Alright....I'm not sure he was interested in you so much as he was in getting off of this island. I wonder why though. And you know...I KNOW I've seen his face somewhere.....but I can't place him. I wish I could." Ladorak stroked his chin.
"Well...I'll talk to him again, see if I can find out anything more about him. Why he won't use the mining ships...that just puzzles me. Say....is there anything else you'd like to see? We still have our tour to get to you know." The ermine smiled with both his eyes and his mouth. She was his priority after all...though he wanted to get more information of that weasel at the same time too if he could.

Jayd really didn't think that he was intimately interested in her either but the way that his eyes seemed to bore a hole into her flesh made her feel uneasy. She seemed unusually fidgety around the male and even more so the longer they held his company. Indeed she would let it up to Ladorak to question him further.
Her mind was then drawn back to the present, their time together. Jayd smiled and then reached up to stroke his cheek fondly. Ladorak was the one that made her feel at ease. "If there is anything else that you wish to see or show me I'd be more then willing to go with you. We should eat lunch soon. Perhaps we could picnic? I'd prefer though if we could be by ourselves and without the company of... him." Her eyes trailed to the male weasel and then back to her favorite male stoat.

"Yes...." her paw tickled his cheek a bit, and he almost recoiled, not because of any more aversion to her, which he no longer had, but because of the sensation he got. He hated being tickled, but it passed as her touch actually came in contact with his cheek and not his fur.
"Yes....I know the perfect spot. And yes...we'll be alone." he assured her. "Let me go talk to him real quick. Wait here." Ladorak moved off and out from under the covered archway, strolling over to the weasel and speaking a few words with him. "Carnavon" nodded, a smile cracking over his features, though it seemed devious in a way, and after shaking paws with Ladorak, he agreed to meet them later on at this spot closer to sundown.
Heading back over to her, Ladorak once again laced his fingers with hers. "He's agreed to wait for us. Come on....let me show you a great spot for this." His paws ran along the hewn stones as if looking for something, finally pushing one in, which started a low rumble, a section of the wall moving back to reveal a hidden passage. "Ublaz had a few secrets of course. It's dark down there....but once we reach the end, there will be light.....lots of it." His teeth flashed brightly in the low lighting in a grin, and he began to lead her in to the corridor that smelled of salt and brine, and behind them the passage closed up again, sealing off the outside world......
*********
The tunnel was dark for most of the way, but Ladorak was so familiar with it that he knew it practically like the back of his paw. For about 10 minutes they were in mostly utter darkness, but gradually, a dull roaring could be heard, and a bright light flooded the end of the tunnel.
The path led out to a sort of shelf of rocks, with a few flowers here and there poking up from the otherwise dead landscape in between. The ocean crashed and broke against the cliffs below them, and a ruined staircase, carved right out of the rocks themselves, lay shattered and neglected, the end leading nowhere as it dropped abruptly off in to the raging sea down below.
"This was Ublaz's secret way to one of his ships, though I mostly had to use it as he never left the island. The ship was burned, and the way down wrecked as you can see, but it would make for a nice place for a picnic....secluded and everything." There was no overhang, and the sun shone brilliantly above them. "What did you bring with you for lunch?" Ladorak asked, shoving his paws in to his jerkin and heading over to the precipice, taking a brief glance down. Yes....this would be a good place to privately picnic.
He turned around, paws still in his pockets, and his face nothing but warmth as he looked at Jayd again.

The stoat-tess could feel the warmth radiating from Ladorak. It was a nice change from the reluctant male that he had previously been. Getting out and about seemed to have done him some good, or perhaps it was the company in which fate pressed him to keep.
Jayd watched him as he left her in order to talk with the male weasel. Her skin crawled when she thought about the male being on the ship with them but then again she'd be with Ladorak. What could go wrong?
The two finished their conversation and soon she found that Ladorak was by her side, linking his fingers into hers. The sensation felt so right and Jayd was more then happy to be venturing out on their own, away from the stranger.
Trusting she was as she allowed him to lead her through a dark hallway that was damp and endless. There was no hope in sight until a light could be seen at the end of the tunnel. Jayd squeezed his paw slightly with the anticipation of being in the warm sun once more.
After they were to their picnic area as if by magic the femme then produced a basket of food. When she opened it the flowers that Ladorak had given to her were well place upon the top, the fragrance bellowing out and into her face. This was when she grinned and then groaned softly. "The flowers are lovely. Thank you." Indeed she appeared very happy with the fact that she now had Ladorak all to herself.
Jayd began to unpack. She started with the picnic blanket and then moved on to all sorts of tempting morsels that would delight any tongue. "I brought a variety of food. I wasn't sure what you'd like." She sat and placed things on the blanket as if it were a table.
