So yes, there is definitely going to be an upcoming war. I'm holding off until I finish my term paper as that's really gonna kill my time until it's over. It'll be due the 10th of April, so be looking for the outbreak of war sometime after that date. This war is going to be fairly large, and the outcome well....will be determined by the players primarily.
Even if you don't have a character in a certain battle, that doesn't mean that you can't participate. I encourage you to join in on every battle, and to make things more fun, I'll be asking for volunteers to play generals and such and be in charge of battles as I don't want to play the controlling force all the time in these conflicts, that'd make it a bit too predictable. I like unpredictability, and yes, sometimes odds WILL be stacked in the favor of one side for a particular battle, but that's just because that'll be an instance where I DO want to a see a certain condition met or whatever.
I'm looking forward to it, as anything can happen. Of course I'm hoping for a "favorable" end, and sometimes I'll definitely throw in a few curves and unexpected twists to keep things interesting. So who's gonna be fighting who? At first glance, there's gonna be some LONG odds against Rosferia......
Coalition Forces:
Kostritz
Gradvar
Galdea
Ferlusan
Calgary
Mordenz
All those nations will be aligned against Rosferia, however, Rosferia will be planning on liberating both Calgary and Mordenz rule so that it will be more even. They plan on establishing democracies there and getting them on their side. I plan on making Gradvar neutral after awhile depending on how they do in their battles, and Ferlusan might actually join Rosferia too, once again depending on how things go. Ideally, if things go right, the board could wind up looking more like this at some point in time.....
Coalition Forces:
Kostritz
Galdea
Rosferia and Allies:
Rosferia
Ferlusan
Mordenz
Calgary
So yeah, far more balanced. But keep in mind, that's only if certain conditions are met. Don't be overwhelmed by the initial odds either, the coalition has it's OWN problems as well. Galdea and Ferlusan won't even be joining in right away. Gradvar and Kostritz most certainly will NOT agree on general strategy, and Gradvar itself, despite having an excellent military, is going to be hampered by some internal problems, the biggest being that the commander in chief for Gradvar is the cousin of King Frederick II, who.....isn't really all that bright as his father was at tactics. XD He'll insist on accompanying his cousin on the frontlines, and will constantly interfere with strategy, so just because Rosferia has odds stacked against it at first doesn't mean the coalition is perfect either. Advantages could be taken and worked upon to tip the odds in Rosferia's favor.
So stay tuned, I'll be breaking down battles for everyone, asking for volunteers to play commanders and such if they like, and I'm really looking forward to this.
Oh yes, basically a battle will be broken down into goals that each side must achieve in order to attain victory, like capture a certain castle or defend a certain point or even just outright destroy your enemy, whatever really. If neither side achieves an objective but one side comes very close then it'll be a victory but perhaps the enemy manages to escape to regroup and such. Unsure how long the war will go on, as long as necessary I suppose. Also, I might hold off on doing a lot of battles over the summer as I'm traveling to another country to get some of my classes out of the way and I won't even be around for most of July, sorry board. But, to make up for that, I'm taking less classes next semester so that we can get some good battle RPs in.
But yeah! Anyways that's that....and look forward to getting this started.
