((Continued from A Meeting By the Docks))
Noel laid his paintbrush down, looking at the painting in front of him. After a time of contemplating what he was doing, he sighed, picking up his brushes to clean them. He had run out of time again. He needed to be downstairs in 15 minutes. He sighed again, rubbing a paw over his face, trying to figure out why he was so confused about the femme that he had hired. She was nice, calm, sweet, shy, and completely opposite Miranda in every way… Why was he comparing her to Miranda any way!?
Noel pushed his way out of the dark room, narrowly avoiding a maid who was walking past his door. He continued on his way down the hall, pausing only briefly to make sure that she wasn’t knocked over. He opened the kitchen door, walking in sedately like he should, though he really wanted to rush and get the day over with already.
Noel approached the main desk, one paw tucked into his doe-brown vest, the other resting on the hilt of the saber he wore, intending to get some practice in later. The red sash he wore ‘round his waist went nicely with the black trousers that he wore. He looked every inch an aristocrat, and didn’t like it one bit.

Needless to say but Viv was eager to start her new job but really nervous about having to be taught by Noel. He gave her some really mixed vibes not to mention the fact that, thanks to his mother, she knew some really personal stuff about him now. Viv could understand why Noel would be so introverted and the last thing that she wanted to do was interfere with his whole healing process. Losing someone that you loved had to be a really hard thing to deal with.
And so there the femme stood, waiting for Noel with her dainty paws folded together neatly in front of her. Her attire was a bit more casual today but still she wore a pretty dress that was void of all the big frills. Still though her presence could still turn all of the single male's heads and even some of the married ones when their wives weren't looking.
When she caught sight of him her breath seemed to be captured in her throat. She smiled polietly and then stepped forward. "Viviana Mist reporting for duty Sir." Perhaps she would call him 'Sir' now that she knew that he was healing of a broken heart and also because he is now her boss.

Noel nodded to her in response to her greeting, “Hello Miss Mist.” He paused realizing that it sounded like he was saying ‘Miss Miss’ there was so little variation in the two words. “Miss Mist I will have to find another way of addressing you,” He said as he continued past her to the desk. He picked a folder from the pile to avoid looking at her. “Miss and Mist sound to similar in my mind.” He concluded, scanning the document that he held.
“Here we are,” He said handing her the sheet he held. It was a contract describing everything that he, as her boss, would provide for her, (Room and board, or money covering the amount that she spent on that plus her salary, an hour lunch break, and every second tuesday off.) And what he expected of her. She would act as a secretary for him, and (when necessary) act as Marta’s paw’s, so she wouldn’t have to be running all over everyplace, she would order everything that the restaurant/hotel would need, and act as the manager for the Red Brick when he was gone.
He waited for her to finish reading it. After a little, he reached behind him, grabbing a quill pen and its inkwell. Gently removing the paper from her paws after he assumed that she was finished, he turned his back to her as he signed his name with a flourish at the bottom. He turned and offered the pen to Viv. “Miss Mist?”

Viviana almost laughed when he made mention that Miss and Mist sounded very similar. Yes it was a bit of a short tongue twister and it did sound more like a snake hissing then an actual name. She nodded in agreement and then took the paper that he had offered her to read. Of course she read it and quickly agreed to her assignment, not that she didn't think that it was quite alot for her to handle. But then again what else did the fair maiden have to do? Basically she was alone and did little else, it nothing, by way of entertainment.
The Kat happily signed in and then pawed it back to him with a small smile on her face. She knew that there was something off with Noel but that didn't stop her from being a ray of sunshine even if it was merely radiating from her facial expression and the way that her body shyly moved. Softly she whispered as she waited for him to take the pen and paper. "Please Sir call me Viviana or Viv for short... which ever you prefer will be fine by me." Even though he seemed to be averting her gaze she was intently looking at him, in a very timid manner of course.

Noel nodded as he took the paper and pen back from Viv. He turned crisply back to the desk placing both of the back on the desk , placing them back exactly were they were when he picked them up. He grinned to himself a little self-depreciating way. He turned back to face her, his small grin still in place. “Miss Viviana, As you can see,” He said waving a paw towards the desk, “I am a very precise beast, always careful about where I put things.” He moved aside to let her see what he was referring to.
The desk behind him had only been vacant for a little over 24 hrs, but he had rearranged everything that had been left behind. He ran everything tighter than he really should, but it was just one of his idiosyncrasies, he liked knowing where things are. He gestured at the desk again. “I don’t expect you to change to meet the style that I do things, well except in the bookkeeping that I expect to be the same.” He moved behind the desk, removing one of the folders from the shelf. He placed it on the desk in front of her, opening it to the middle. It wasn’t all that different from most, rows and columns of numbers, except for the way they were ordered. There were small scribbled messages all over, making it hard to see. Most of them were complaints from the previous managers, saying that he was to picky, but a couple he had written, explaining that he never wanted to see different colored inks, smudges or the like in the books, notes he would allow. If there were to many of the above, he would have them re-do the last pages till they got it right.

Well even if he did put a 'Miss' in front of her name at least he still actually stated her name. This made Viv grin and his grin only made her own grew wider. She wondered what he was grinning about exactly but she didn't bother asking, knowing full well that he was a very private beast. She could tell that when his mother revealed the hidden paintings to her.
Viv nodded. Indeed she could see that he was a very precise beast and she would do her best to follow in line with him. Needless to say though, the femme did have a certain organizational skills about her. Even her appearance displayed that much, not a hair was out of place and not a stain could be found upon her pressed simple but pretty dress. "I will do my best and if my best isn't up to your standard I'll be expecting your counsel.... Sir." The shape of her lips turned upward and into a smile. Her eyes glimmered as she looked at him, her imagination running wild but the practical part of her brain rebuking her.

Noel cleared his throat as his breath caught in his throat for a moment, her smile was…. He didn’t quite know, but he would find out. Noel cleared his throat to cover the catch, “Ahem, well then Miss Viviana,” He said waving a paw behind him and towards the desk. “ Start making yourself at home here,” He said edging around her, “While I go fetch the Head cook, and couple others that you will be working closely with.”
Noel made good his escape into the broad double doors. Pausing a moment to regain his composure by adjusting the ruffled collar of his shirt. With that done, he moved on into to kitchen, nearly running into Vasqez, the portly head chef. “Vhat is it lad?!” the Ferlusan squirrel bellowed on Noel’s ear, the beast had been the personal cook for Noel’s mother, so he didn’t have the heart to tell him that he really should’t be calling him ‘lad’ any longer. He wiggled a claw in his ear, Vasq was almost deaf, and he seemed determined that every beast he came across would become that way as well. “Vasq, the new manager is here, I want you to come meet her.” Noel only ever slightly raised his tone, he never yelled, ‘save in the heat of battle when he needed to, to be heard, which if course caused problems when he talked to the head chef.
“What was that lad, speak up, I can’t hear you above the din!” Noel rubbed paw across his forehead, trying to figure out why he hadn’t yet fired this crazy beast when he felt himself moved gently but surly aside by the point of a broom handle. “He said your supposed to go meet the new manager, ya lunk-head!” Noel stepped farther away from the ominous broom handle that was held in the claws of perturbed female squirrel, knowing from past experience that Bella may be old, but she still new how to handle a broom. Before a shouting match could begin, he raised a paw to them, “It doesn’t matter, Bella, I was just going to send one of the maids for you, you come as well,” Noel turned away, knowing the two older beasts would follow him through the doors to the lobby.
Striding quickly, he soon found himself in front of the large oak desk again, this time with two noisy, argumentative beasts in tow. “Miss Viviana , these are the two beasts that you will be working the most closely with. Vaques and Bells Hernendez.” He glanced over his shoulder at the two, saw them sizing up their new manager ( and those two knew how to make themselves look imposing if the felt they needed to) then turned away sharply on his heel, “I am off to track down Myles, If you need me, I will be in the courtyard out back,” he called over his shoulder to her. Lets see how she handles these two fire balls…
Noel wasn’t worried about Viv, knowing that she would be in good paws if the two took a liking to her, and if they didn’t well, they would need their brains checked.
Both squirrels stood waiting, Vasp bouncing the wooden ladle that he had been holding when Bella had prodded him out of the kitchen, and Bella stood, still holding the broom, or as the maids called it her "hurry-up-there" stick.

Viv waited for Noel to return. She retreated to the desk and found that she wouldn't change a thing on it. It was quite tidy and she would just commit the placeage of everything to memory, that way if needed Noel would be able to find everything as well. It wasn't hard for the femme to adapt.
Soon the air grew louder though. Noel was bringing her some new beasts to meet. Immediately Viv began to laugh at their antics. They didn't seem to be a pair that she would have a hard time with, aside from the fact that she would have to scream at the male in order for him to hear her. This would be a challenge since Viv wasn't the type that was very loud to begin with.
In truth Viv thought that the pair was rather funny but she was a little nervous and would have rather have Noel by her side but he soon left her. She chuckled and then simply put on a happy face as she curtsied toward the pair and then stuck her paw out to each one of them as a sign of friendship and peace. "Tis very nice to meet you both. I'm sure that we will get along splendidly." She shouted and then slightly gazed over her shoulder at the nearly gone Noel.

Noel walked outside, nearly running into Myles as he rounded the corner of the fencing yard. He skipped out of the way, avoiding the end of the fencing sabers that Myles carried. “There you are Myles, I’ve been wondering where you were,” He said raising an eyebrow at him “you supposed to be inside when Miss Viviana arrived today?” Myles ducked his head a little, avoiding his employer’s eyes, “Master, I’m sorry, I was roped into helping out here by Mike, and…” Noel held up a paw, stalling any more excuses from coming, “Doesn’t matter Myles, she is already here and you need to go about finding all the staff and filing them through there so get to it.” Noel’s voice had taken a steelier hint to it at the end, something that Myles picked up on immediately; he scurried inside to round up some of the maids and waiters as he could.
Meanwhile, inside, Bella and Vasque sized up their new manager. Vasq started nodding almost immediately, he liked the look of her, though he may need to break down and get that ear trumpet if he was going to be able hear her…
Bella, on the other paw, would be much harder to convince. She raised her nose slightly at her. She wouldn’t give her the ‘stamp of approval just yet, not after the way the last one had treated all of the staff.
Myles for his part, had rounded up about six of the other staff beasts for introduction, and since it was mid-morning, not many were needed at their stations. He brought with him a small ear-trumpet for Vasq, having rightly judged the old cooks acceptance of Viv. When he got there, he moved up beside her, pawing off the trumpet to Vasq as he went passed. Nodding to Viv, he turned to face the beasts he brought with him. “Miss Mist, this is Valerie, Mik, Eyes, Ty, Rachel, we call her Rach,” he said addressing himself to Viv, “And Teal.” Each beast nodded as he, or she, was pointed to, Rach and Teal offered small waves as their names were said. Eyes was watching Viv with open admiration, when Myles, caught his eye and glared at him, causing the other beast to lower his gaze. The other two and Valerie just watched with some suspicion, waiting for Viv to say something before they decided what they would think of her.
By this time, Noel had made his way back inside the foyer, but he staid out of sight of everybeast ‘cept for Viv and Myles, waiting to see how she would respond to them.

Viv smiled at them all. She was a usually polite creature by nature and today would be no different. "Hello everyone. It's nice to meet you all. I think that we will get along splendidly." There was no use in getting off to a bad footpaw.
The femme's eyes glanced over at Noel. Yes she seen him and yes she smiled warmly at him. She had yet to figure him out. It was hard to read him. At times he seemed warm and at other times he was colder.
V rocked back and forth on her footpaws and smiled at the rest of the crew. She inwardly admitted that she was nervous but outwardly she probably seemed like a creature that was from the upper crust of society. Only time would tell how she would handle this job.
