((Open to everybeast who has a character in Rosferia. I encourage you all to join!))
It was mid-afternoon in Cosnair, capital of Rosferia. Today was the day designated for the mass demonstration to take place before the King's winter Palace on the river Trist. The call had gone out from the Girondist Party in the city for all interested citizens to gather at City Hall for the march on the King's Palace.
City Hall was only a few blocks away from the palace, and was a rather large and ornate building. The Mayor of the city was, fortunately for those who were gathering, a republican sympathizer and had no qualms about opening the doors of his building to demonstrators. They had been asked to show up, and show up they did. They came in droves, and from all walks of life. From the poorest of peasants all the way up to the middle class, there were even thieves and ruffians mixed in as well as freelance "adventurers" and even some mercenaries for hire. They were followers of all different sorts of political beasts as well, some who were in still in hiding underground because of a price being out on their head.
It had overall been organized however by the leader of the Girondist Party, Brissoe the mouse. He had formed a tentative pact with Otto Kurtz, the otter who had dyed his fur blue and also Milton Dragonis, the crocodilian Public Prosecutor of Cosnair. These three were now situated in a large office in City Hall, going over maps of the palace and discussing the best ways to approach the grounds.
It looked almost like a military command post in there, as there were beasts scuffling about and carrying papers this way and that and trying to bring order out of the otherwise chaos. Beasts were gathering as the hours ticked by. Some were armed, others were not. By and large though the crowd was not distributed with weapons. There was no talk about marching on the City Armory simply because this was seen as a demonstration to get the King to drop his vetoes and recall his Ministers and not an actual storming of the palace.
"Once we're all here we'll move out." Milton was saying, the large crocodile's beady yellow eyes shifting from tabletop to his two compatriots.
"Define 'all here.'" Brissoe asked now, tapping the map with a claw. "And what's the best mode of entry into the palace grounds?'
"By all here I mean a certain squirrel I know." was Milton's response, referring to his now hired paw Swifttail.
"Seems I know a squirrel too who isn't quite here yet." Otto chimed in as well. "I left a message for him at my office though, he should be here presently. Once we have enough beasts we'll move in. I plan on getting several thousand to march with us. Easiest way is to leave and just travel straight down the street outside to the palace grounds." the blue furred otter indicated with a claw as he traced a line to the palace.
"Do you expect resistance?" Brissoe piped up.
"Of course...though where exactly we aren't sure. The Scarlet Guard has sentries in the gardens as well as barring entry into the courtyard. We need to gain access to that courtyard though....." the crocodile informed his rodent cohort.
"Right, and try to avoid any bloodshed with the Guard. This is a movement of the citizens....not a storming of the palace. Of course....with that said...we should expect resistance. I can't imagine the King's elites being very friendly to our calls to see the King." Otto added.
"We should move close to sunset, I don't want to delay any longer than that. The citizens might get tired if they have to wait long into the night for any results." Brissoe spoke next.
"Yes....we'll begin organizing into groups momentarily here, but I just want to wait for my friend to get here." Otto stated, referring to Sciurus. It was planned to be the biggest demonstration that had gone before the King's palace yet, and they were trying to ensure that their voices would be heard and that the King would change his ways. They had to be sure.....they had to be sure he wasn't collaborating with the foreign powers in order to get his authority restored...though chances were he was. Thus this demonstration was necessary and vital to the survival of Rosferia.....at least that's how everybeast who was gathering here felt.
