Answering the Commune's call for 20,000 National Guardbeasts to form a camp around Cosnair for the defense of the capital, various departments and cities have been sending their quota into the capital and surrounding countryside from all over. They come from every corner of the Kingdom in order to bolster the weak capital defenses and serve as a bulwark while the main Rosferian Army reorganizes and gets itself set up to either resume it's attempted offensive into Mordenz or defend Rosferia should Gradvar decide to once again attack the nation.
The first of the units began arriving today, bringing the camp to around 5,000 beasts. Many more are on the way, and this is clearly in direct defiance of the King's veto banning the existence of such a camp. The King, who feared these beasts would be used in a coup, has demanded that the Legislative Assembly order them to disperse, but the Assembly, after much debate, has decided to allow the camp to gather. Their reason being? The Assembly has stated that it wants the National Guard to partake in the celebrations that will take place on the 14th of this month for the third anniversary of the storming of the Bastion Prison that is now a National Holiday in Rosferia and marked the start of the Rosferian Revolution.
Much of the political left in the Assembly sees this as a triumph over the King whereas much of the political right are crying out that this is Unconstitutional. The decree that King Augustine vetoed about the priests who refused the oath of allegience has also been enforced over the King's veto. The Commune feels that the nation's money would be better spent elsewhere than paying for disloyal citizens.
Negotiations between Kostritz and Gradvar continue, with no further news on that front.
The establishment of the camp marks what some may call a triumph of the popular will over that of the King. What this means for King Augustine could be anybeast's guess, but it is clear his authority is slipping in favor of the will of the masses and that of the Assembly. What this means for the current government remains to be seen.....
