Spindrick started coming round fully once he was yanked up to standing. It was with great appreciation that Monty was at last able to relax as Miri bound his opponent up. She even went to get Spindrick. Hard worker......she should earn a bonus for him for that.
"Remember Montegu....our little deal." Sveltlana hissed in the weasel's ear as Spindrick was brought over.
"In a minute Jis Sveltlana. I'm busy." He snapped back, and walked forward. "Well, well. Cousin Spindrick. Foiled again I see."
"Hmph..." his cousin snorted, blood streaming down his face from the wound he'd received from Miri. "Not quite cousin. You can't touch me in this country. You can bring me back to Welkin if you want....but I've committed no crime in that nation. And....I'm sure you wouldn't turn me over to the authorities here....I'm your cousin after all." Spindrick took on a hurt, pleading look. He knew Monty would cave....he always did.
As much as the detective was disgusted with his relative right now he knew he was right. He couldn't just turn him over to the Rosferian authorities...he wanted Spindrick to reform after all, not have his head chopped off by the government here. No...they'd kill him for a crime like this. Although Spindrick was dastardly and a villain....overall he didn't like harming others, and saw his crimes as a game. More like an child than an adult really. Monty couldn't do that to him. He'd have to take him back.
Sighing, the detective shot his cousin a dark look. "Fine! But you're going to be under MY supervision the entire way." he ordered. "Jis Talian.....don't let him go. I'm going to check the inventory and make sure everything is accounted for." moving over to the crates, he began to open them up, checking the contents against the list of the Crown Jewels he'd obtained a few days ago. They had to be all here...right?
Sveltlana stood by impatiently, wondering if she could perhaps sneak a jewel or two out from under their noses. Maybe seduce Monty a bit and get him to drop his guard. But for now she stayed back, not wanting to get involved with things as they were.
Spindrick smiled, unsteady on his hind paws as he looked over at Miri. "That was a good crack you gave me. Tell my cousin though he won't find two of those gems. They'll be long gone by now. Other than that....everything's there." he muttered, struggling to become coherent and regain full use of his faculties.

Miri saw the way the way that Spindrick manipulated Monty right off Miri kept her face towards him as she called over her shoulder, “Boss, he says you’ll find all but two in there, he apparently already sold those two.” Miri maneuvered the still bleeding Spindrick over to a sitting position in front of the cart, “accidentally” getting to a spot where she could keep an eye of Svetlana, she didn’t trust that femme as far she she could.. Scratch that, she probably could through her pretty far…. Well she still didn’t trust her at all.
Miri began to bind a strip of cloth that she tore from Spindrick’s shirt ‘round his forehead, in doing so she got close to his snout, not quite looking him in the eye, she wasn‘t stupid. “Listen and listen well Jal,” Her eye’s and voice had gone a steely, “If you so much as try anything funny, if you so much as twitch your tail wrong, I will blow this job and haul your sorry rear back here as fast as I can and collect that reward that’s resting on your head….” She quirked an eyebrow at him, keeping her voice low so Monty wouldn’t hear her. “You got that Spindrick??”

"What?" Monty asked, quickly checking the charts and trying to pinpoint every jewel just to make sure Spindrick wasn't throwing him off. Going quickly, the weasel tried his best to make sure everything was accounted for. His paws brushed past the large rocks, moving them to one side of the crate if they were all there. There were crowns and scepters as well as orbs, and the detective had to be meticulous in his count.
He felt Sveltana's gaze on his back, or more precisely over his shoulder and knew she sizing up those rocks. What was she doing here anyways? How had she followed them? "I'd appreciate you not looking over my shoulder while I work if you don't mind."
All that did was cause the lemming to walk up closely behind him and start whispering soft words into his ear. "And why don't you just take them? You have them now....your cousin can be dumped someplace and you could just..." but she was interrupted by the loud smash of one of the jewels up against the side of the crate. Monty didn't have to worry about damaging the rock...it was harder than wood after all.
"Because....I'm not like you. We've been over this already....back off Jis Sveltlana....I'm not in the mood for this." he growled under his breath. She was looking at him, giving him one of those almost irresistible gazes that he wouldn't mind just falling into. But he couldn't be distracted...he knew what she was doing.
Spindrick, for his part, was hoping to catch Miri a bit off guard with his gaze, but she didn't look directly into his eyes. Ah well....it wouldn't have made a difference. With the pain he was in he wasn't sure he'd be able to focus all that well regardless. "Alright..." he exhaled, squirming a bit under her threats. "Alright.....but I don't think my cousin would like that too much. He's too much of a sucker you see and well...."
"He's right." Monty spoke up so that Miri could hear him. "The Sancy Diamond and the Rosferia Blue Diamond are missing. Two of the bigger ones. Where'd you stash them cousin?" Monty poked his head around the cart so that he could rest his eyes on Spindrick.
"Ohhhh come on cousin....I can't betray my client. Besides...they'd be long gone by now anyways."
"What did you sell them for?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Spindrick asked, sulking now a bit as he realized he wasn't going to quite get away...but wouldn't be prosecuted either. Thankfully his cousin hated harming other beasts, just like himself. Spindrick was convinced it must have been a curse on the Sylver family to be so unable to bring harm upon another. Sveltlana stepped forward, walking up to Miri and taking off one of her gloves.
"I'd smack him one if you want Jis Talian." she said darkly, looking down at the weasel, he grimaced.
"This isn't an interrogation." Monty cut back in. "JIs Talian, get him back on his hindpaws. We need to get these back to where they belong....and POSSIBLY start to track down the Sancy and Rosferia Blue. I don't know about you...but I'd rather try and learn the whereabouts of the diamonds on the way BACK to Welkin whilst keeping a close eye on Spindrick. As of right now.....I officially want to get back home. I've had about all I could take of this country." the weasel said, shaking his head now his eyes moved from Sveltlana down to Miri.
Sveltlana was contemplating things as well. No.....Monty wouldn't be getting away....and neither would those crown jewels. She had come here for them after all....and she didn't want to leave empty pawed. But how to work this...obviously she'd stay close to Monty. He was rather easy to charm, she just had to make sure he never left her sights...and she'd have to move soon as well, simply because they were planning on returning the jewels soon. She stood back a bit, watching events unfold.

Miri shook her head, keeping her voice down as she answered Spindrick. “I know he’s a pushover, that’s why I will be the one keeping an eye on you, but for now…” Miri glanced around, noting the calculating look in Svetlana’s eye’s. “I am going to truss you up like a stuck pig and take care of the more imminent threat right now.” So saying Miri removed a cord from her belt pouch, then knelt down, hobbling Spindricks legs and tying his tail up in the knot just for kicks.
When she was down with that, she walked over to where Svetlana was standing, putting herself between Svetalana and Monty, casting a glance at Svetlana to let her know that she knew what Svetlana was trying. The Countess was too persistent to just lay down and let Monty return the jewels with having a go at them. So Miri simply placed herself in a spot where she could intercept any move Svetlana made. After all, who was better to stop a charming female lemming, than someone who wouldn’t be affected by said charm, in this case that meant Miri, not Monty was going to have her paws full….

Spindrick was left with his legs and even his tail bound, and by now Monty finished checking the inventory and moved over to watch his cousin. "He's right...it's all there except the Sancy and Rosferia Blue. What did you do with them cousin? I might be tempted to make you ride as freight on the way back."
"But then you'd have to ride as freight yourself since you'd have to constantly watch me! I'm sure you wouldn't want that." Spindrick said, grinning. Monty groaned, putting his paw up to his face. Yes.....Spindrick was right. Tossing him down into the cargo hold meant they'd have to have somebeast constantly watch him. Pain in the tail that he was being.
Grabbing hold of Spindrick's collar, the weasel detective yanked him to his footpaws. "Alright listen.....I WILL track those missing diamonds down.....maybe not constantly or consistently...but I WILL find out whom you sold them to. I have my methods and contacts in almost every royal court on the continent. I'd prefer you not think me the fool here. I'll get them back."
"You know...I was planning on double crossing the buyer and stealing most of them myself. I'd use them to finance my own campaign of anarchy in Welkin! But....well I only sold the first two because he approached me when I wasn't expecting it and asked me to paw over two of the diamonds as a show of my good faith. Seeing as how he had a bunch of beasts with him and I was alone well...I didn't have much choice at the time. But oh believe me! I was planning on running...running to some other nation and getting rich off of them in order to fund my schemes!"
"Right!" Monty snarled in the face of his cousin. "But I just had to come along and ruin it right?"
"But you realize that while you're looking....I'll be up to no good yes?"
"And I'll be right behind you.....I'm ALWAYS right behind you cousin." was the detective's answer. He picked Spindrick up and tossed him into the back of the cart with a thud. Turning back to Miri, he spoke low so as not to interrupt her. It looked as if she and Sveltlana were having a conversation.
Sveltlana, while this was going on, was glowering at Miri. "So....you think you're clever eh? Blocking me off from Montegu? I blame YOU for what happened you know. We could have been away from there...away from his cousin. I provided that getaway after all...I expect to be compensated jill. I didn't have to do that you know. Besides if you hadn't of been there, I think things would have been more interesting between Montegu and myself." she stopped speaking though, as she saw Monty pick Spindrick up and dump him into the back of the cart.
Narrowing her eyes to the size of stilettos, the lemming moved a step closer to Miri. "I think I deserve a slice of the pie here don't you? I could've left you behind after all." she hissed, falling silent again as Monty came up behind Miri and spoke lowly.
"You ready to go? What have you been talking about?" were the mustelid detective's words. He'd caught the last pit of what Sveltlana had said, something about pie. The jewels? Making sure the sword in his cane was properly back into it's sheath (the rest of the cane), the weasel rested upon it as he waited for a response from his partner.

Miri leaned forward to speak to Svetlana without Monty hearing her. "No you couldn't have left me behind that day Countess," Miri leaned back a bit so she look her full in the face, "I can find anythin, anyone, anytime... That's what I'm trained to do, and." Miri leaned back even more, keeping her voice low though. "I'm pretty good at it, just ask my pocketbook." Miri gave her a cheeky smile and backed away from her, very glad that looks couldn't kill.
Miri drew even with Monty saying "Oh, not much Boss, we were just discussing a difference in opinion." Miri walked around the cart were she had dropped her shoulder bag earlier. Kneeling down she pulled a packet from and then made her way back over to Svetlana, pawing the packet off to her. "Like I said last time we met," Miri leaned against cart, she was tired. "I'm the one that dragged Boss out of your cart, without his consent." Miri smiled, remembering their respective faces when that happened. "So here is his promise, half of what was in the case." Miri didn't mention that it was only half of the papers in the folder, every other paper. They had already returned the jewels after all... And she didn't feel bad about giving her the papers, she had taken them to a copier last night, the copies were sitting in her bag, she figured if she was going to trick her, she might as well have the originals.

Sveltlana sneered, smacking the packet away from her. "That's useless now jill. I know for a fact that that won't do me any good now that the jewels are sitting right in front of me!" she exclaimed with disdain. "However....there are two jewels still out there...I wonder who could find them first?" "You wouldn't dare!" Monty snarled, checking the cart to make sure it was in working order, making sure the horses were saddled properly. "Jis Sveltlana....you know full well you'd gain nothing by..." "I'm gaining nothing NOW Montegu!" she snapped back. "I HELPED you in the park and in getting away...and you repay me with NOTHING. You truly are a vile beast Montegu. Why am I always the one to get cut out of your bargains?" "Well I....I....you see that is..." she was guilt tripping Monty obviously, and he DID feel bad for not being able to repay her. "If...there's a reward for returning them....you could get my cut. Or....I mean you know I don't need the money." Her eyes blazed with rage. "Money Montegu? You think a Countess like me wants some paltry reward?" the lemming narrowed her eyes and looked down at him, unleashing her female scorned tactic. "Didn't I repay you by....this?" the weasel finally said, it being the only thing he could think of. He moved his shirt aside so that she could see the bullet wound in his flesh, his fur shaved off in that area thanks to the doctor and procedure he needed to have done. "I....took.....a bullet for you.....Jis Sveltlana." his words were slow, hesitant, and controlled. He didn't want to admit his deeper feelings, the ones he kept buried incredibly deep. It was more of just an attraction really...he knew he couldn't truly love a beast like her unless her moral compass did a complete 180 degree turn. "I think I did repay you....saved your life didn't I?" Sveltlana's eyes narrowed even further...but then the rage in them went out. For once....Sveltlana Bogginski had nothing to say...no comeback and no harsh words for Montegu. She realized now that the weasel HAD saved her life...and for that they were probably even. "Fine!" she said with disgust. "I'll consider us even in this case." "And?" Monty asked, raising a brow. "And what? Oh.....thank you Montegu." she murmured, looking down at her claws and pretending to study them. "Fine...take the jewels and go." she would have double-crossed him for ANYTHING else except for saving her life. She was planning on perhaps hypnotizing with her gaze, but knew that Miri wouldn't let her get away with that and besides, she owed Montegu Sylver her life...and would have to back off for now. She doubted she'd ever return the favor if given the chance. "Go then...and may we meet under more favorable and less obligatory circumstances." she gave him a fake smile (that still looked stunning nonetheless) and winked, turning her back and strutting off, putting just a little extra sway in her hips to catch Monty's eye, as she felt almost certain it would. The weasel watched briefly, but shook his head and sighed. "Glad that's over." he said, relieved as he covered his wound up again. "Didn't know if that would work or not. Regardless, I think we should be getting these back to the warehouse. Do you want to drive while I watch Spindrick?" the detective asked, holding the reins out to his partner now and cracking a smile. ((should we wrap this up soon then? Up to you really if you wanted to do more or not )

((I say wrap it up and get them on the boat home asap )) Miri didn't say a word when Svetlana turned down the packet, she had kinda expected that, but hey, she tried. Not htat she didn't blame Svetlana for her reaction, who would want some plain ol' papers when thdere was a fortune in jewels right in front of their snout? Of course, thatt had been Miri was counting on... She wasn't all that convinced that the papers were useless, and she did perfer to have the original copies. "Sure Boss, I'll drive," Miri climed up onto the wagon seat, then accepted the reins. While she waited for Monty to climb in, she aimed a comment at Spindrick, "So, How many times now have your plans been foiled by Jal Sylver?" Miri clicked the horses forward, heading towards the warehouse where they wre originally stored, "Boss hasn't mentioned many, but I assume it's quite a few by now," She smiled, enjoying the fact that the job was almost complete, and she didn't have any injuries that wouldn't heal in a weeks time. They hadn't gone very far when Miri pulled the cart to a stop, "Ach, just a minute Boss, I forgot to thank that kid for his help, be right back." With that Miri jumped down and jogged back the little ways to where he still stood. "Thanks for the help there," she stuck her paw out, "You really helped us out of a jam there." He replied with a large smile and a nod as he shook her paw. Miri leaned forward and whispered "But we'd appreciate if you didn't speak to anybeast about this little hulloballo," Miri flashed a large smile and a wink at him before shaking his paw one last time, this time palming him a gold crown. Soon she was vaulting back into the front seat, and they were on their way again. "Hey Boss," she said, turning a little in the seat "just to be sure, we're headed back to that same warehouse where Spindrick stole these things from?"

"This would be the....fourth time I believe I've foiled him Jis Talian." Monty offered, as Spindrick only glared at her. "Oh wait.....no forget that....more like sixth. Forgot how our first couple of encounters ended. My cousin has a rather large rate of failure I'm afraid."
"But I never give up! You have to admit cousin! I keep your life interesting!" Spindrick piped up, smiling to himself as he leaned back.
"True.....but I'd prefer it if you tried to live an honest life....earn an honest wage." Monty implored.
"Bah! Where's the fun in that! Oh don't worry...I'll behave until we reach Welkin. See I know I'm not facing jail times back home, so I'm good for awhile!" he exclaimed confidently, to which Monty only shook his head.
Nodding, the detective confirmed Miri's question after she asked it. "Yes Jis Talian. The Royal....Warehouse I guess." he scratched his head, unsure of what it was called. "I'd like uh....like to let you know that this was a job well done Jis Talian. I expect to have your payment waiting for you upfront when we pull back into Welkin. We'll head right to my bank in Muggidrear and I'll pay you what you're owed. Hoo...at this rate it's going to be quite a bit. We've been here since what? May or something?" the weasel asked, almost flabbergasted at this fact. "It's REALLY time to head home." He stretched, taking one last look at that blue ribbon around Miri's arm. Just who was it that had given that to her......perhaps the answers would be forthcoming over the next few cases they would work, as Monty felt sure she'd want to work in his employ again.
But just to be sure...."So.." he spoke up. "Will you be contracting yourself to me from time to time from here on out? I'd say we made a pretty good pair of weasels heheh." he clicked his teeth at this, and gave her a rare (Monty just never did this much) smile.

Miri listened with vested interest the banter between the two cousins. She shook her head at the amount of time they had been there was well. "Its going to be nice to go home." Miri smiled, lapsing into silence for the rest of the ride. She watched the beasts in the streets as they passed them by. Everyone seemed to happy, smiles were on most everybeasts face. They seemed to be happy about something... oh right they were now a free country a republic, or whatever that was. Politics made her head hurt, in fact she hadn't had much to do with politicians sense... Miri shook herself, willing herself to push the memories away.
Soon after, they pulled to a stop in front of the building. Vaulting down, she ran around the back and hauled Spindrick out of the cart and undid his leg-hobble, and just to make sure he didn't try to run away, she was holding her knife to his ribs. "Don't move Jal, I won't hesitate to use this." Her mood had not improved sense her memories had surfaced.
After Boss was done talking with the guards, she approached him, leading Spindrick over as well, "Boss you said something in the cart, I wasn't thinking then, sorry for not answering." Miri smiled, a slightly forced one but a smile none the less. "Yes Boss, I do believe I enjoy working with you." Her smile grew a little bit, though it was still a slightly sad.
