Monty turned back from the guards, who immediately began swarming the cart. They were under orders of the Convention now, and not the King. They would make sure that the Convention and no royal controlled the jewels. It was a different form of government they had set up, and the King's royal police force had been disbanded in favor of a Committee of General Security, which would be overseeing security for this site now.
Monty expressed his apologies for not being able to locate the Rosferia Blue or the Sancy, but promised he would get on locating those two rocks as soon as he could. Turning to face Miri, he derived amusement at seeing how closely controlled she was keeping Spindrick. A dagger to his ribs...how fitting. If only his cousin weren't on the wrong side of things......Monty knew Spindrick had the capability to do good, but it would take a lot of patience and perseverance to bring that out.
"Good....good Jis Talian." Monty responded in a quieter, placated sort of tone. Hoo....it was good to be done....good to have this case wrapped up and finalized. It hadn't been too much of a mystery unfortunately, more like a wild weasel chase, but in the end Monty had outrun his opponent, and Spindrick was down for the count for now. They would need to work on getting back to Welkin before this country got too nuts and start either figuring out what cases needed working on the most, and get those started. But for now....he just wanted to relax for the holidays and take some time off in his beloved city of Muggidrear.
Case closed....for now at least. "Time to head back home then. I'll get your payment to you once we get back to Muggidrear Jis Talian, so don't you worry about that." He was planning on paying her quiet well for her first job, as she'd been with him through many months of work and he had to admit he would have been hard pressed to complete this one on his own.
Checking his watch, he nodded at Miri and began walking towards the main streets to look for a cab. From there they'd catch the stage out to Bray and get a ship back to Welkin. "Come on then Jis Talian! Let's get a move on then!" the detective exclaimed, waving his paw in a forward motion as he stepped out of the shadow of the warehouse and into the bright mid-day sun.
END!
