Carnot sighed as he gazed at the papers coveriing his desk. some with mathetmatical equations, some dealt with concerns from citizens in the capital, others dealt with discussions the directory-he and the four other directors- were having on what to do next. a candle burned in its holder near the desk, sending down a tendril of wax down the side. there was a knock at the door..

"Come in!" Barras called out. Barras was a binturong, and absolutely despised Carnot and his blue blooded and republican ways. Natural though, as Barras was nothing but a power hungry ogre in the republicans' eyes.
In stepped a meerkat finely dressed in a General's attire. He carried his hat under his arm. "Gentlemammals!" General Boneparte Lantzer said, his voice loud and confident, though he spoke Rosferian with a pronounced Calgarian accent. Boneparte Lantzer was currently head of Rosferia's Army of the Interior, in charge of protecting Cosnair from internal dissent and preserving the peace. Only two months ago he had saved the Directory from abolishment at the paws of the royalists, who had launched a bloody but unsuccessful uprising in an attempt to wrest control away from the republic.
"I have here a revised plan for the offensive in Calgary. Might I ask though..." He hesitated here, keeping the plans under his arm for now. "WHY has General Scherer stopped? He should be advancing, not going into winter quarters! The Piedmontese and Kostritzers are divided! NOW is the time to strike! NOW! If he delays, they'll simply reunite in the spring and we'll be right back to where we were! WHAT is General Scherer doing?" he asked, fixing his steely blue eyes on Carnot now, as Carnot primarily handled the military planning aspect of the Directory.

He does not believe in jumping back into battle so soon after the most recent battle. Not everyone is like you General, moving quickly from point to point, battle to battle. There is something to be said for tradition you know" Carnot replied calmly. Genereal Scherer has earned a victory, some time to savor it is warranted..

Boneparte smiled, but in a slightly condescending manner. "With all due respect to General Scherer Monsieur Carnot, there will be plenty of time to savor our victories when we've won this war! If he sits on his laurels then winter will turn into spring, and the Kostritzers will reunite with the Piedmontese and we'll be facing a unified force! That will be a missed opportunity to defeat each force in detail while they're divided and weak! Surely Monsieur Carnot, you DO agree, yes?" Boneparte asked now, clenching his teeth anxiously as he stood there in front of the Directors.

Wether I agree or not, is really irrelevant" Carnot replied, taking note of the look on boneparte's face. Scherer is the commander of our forces there at the moment, and it is his decision to move or not. However, your plans may be of use to him. Would you allow us to send these plans on to him?" Carnot was not one who was easily rattled..

"I will... but may I present them to the Directors first?" Boneparte asked now, taking the plans out from under his arm and flipping open the folder with a flick of his wrist. "I think you'd probably like to hear them in detail before I present them to General Scherer, yes?"
"I have no problem with that." Barras responded, nodding.
"Very well." Rewbell chimed in as well.
"Monsieur Carnot?" Letourneur asked, looking over at his friend now.

Very well, let us look at them, and we shall then forward them on to the General' Carnot replied. taking a look at the plans, which at the glance were detailed.. and bold, fitting the demeanor of the meerkat. he glared in the direction of Barras, the two of them did not get on, due to Carnot's noble bloodline.

Boneparte nodded, giving a smile now as Lepeaux gave him a final nod as well. "It seems we have consensus." Lepeaux stated, frowning thoughtfully.
Boneparte placed his papers in front of the Directors, so that everyone could see as he held them up. "Very well! Here they are! As you know, I feel that winter is the time to hit the divided enemy. It's risky I know... but let's keep this in mind... winter is the time armies typically DON'T move... hence it's the best time to catch the enemy unawares and unprepared. I propose this... that General Scherer concentrate immediately on the Piedmontese... they're the weaker and certainly less well trained force after all. By my estimates... Piedmont itself could be knocked out of the war in only a matter of weeks. Turin can be driven on rapidly, and if we ignore and bypass the forts of Ceva, Mondovi, and Cuneo, as it's a waste of time to focus on them, Piedmont can be brought to bay and forced into making peace by spring at the latest." Boneparte explained.
"I'm willing to bet that Kostritz won't be able to react in time... their new commander in the region, Johann Peter Beaulieu, is competent but old. He's currently 70 years of age, and not given to rapid campaigns. I bet he'll be caught off balance while Piedmont is dealt with, and by the time he mobilizes his ally will be gone, suing for peace. Then General Scherer can turn on Beaulieu, and start forcing him back into central Calgary for the start of the spring campaigning season."
Boneparte cleared his throat now, and then proceeded with his explanation. "The objective is to drive the Kostritzers back across the Po River to Mantua and what's known as the Quadrilateral, or a series of four fortresses counting Mantua. That's Kostritz's main base of operations in Calgary.... if we take the Quadrilateral, we have an excellent spring board with which to launch an invasion into southern Kostritz itself... and eventually reach Stratospheros, their capital." Boneparte informed them, pointing out the various routes on the map.

Very detailed, and bold" Carnot replied, this will certainly interest scherer, if he has any sense... what are you plans boneparte when you leave here?

"When I leave here?" Boneparte repeated the question as he passed out a copy of the plans to the Directors. "Most likely head back to my office in the Louvre. There's plenty of further work to be done, paperwork that needs to be processed, and reorganizing of the National Guard. I'm still hard at work ensuring our capital stays safe from the royalists after all." He paused here, giving them a more serious look.
"We must ensure that something like that uprising on Treize Vendémiaire never recurs." he stated determinedly.
