The femme Meerkat and her sister managed to be packed aboard a ship that carries the mail, a means of travel that she was 'not' accustomed to due to her families past good fortune. But now things have changed drastically for them. They are now as poor as poor can be and her parents were sending out the girls to hunt for rich husbands, something that would keep their family in the ritz. Her parents promising to follow in their wake soon.
This of course went against Val's grain but she was forcing herself to do it, if only for her families sake. Knowing her luck she'd end up with an old kat that was about ready to kick the bucket. What she really longed for was true love. Such thoughts only added to her foul mood as they made their way across the Ceres Ocean, looking out of place due to her lavish way of dress, clothing that she managed to save from the tragedy of the storm that swept away their whole plantation.
Val found herself standing at the bow of the ship, tired of rubbing shoulders with those that were beneath her status in life. The femme would be forced into getting use to living the poor life but she had to keep up the charade of being rich, if only to fool the rich male's into thinking that she was one of their kind.
The femme sighed as she buried her face deeply into her opened paws. What was she to do? How was she going to get through this difficult time in her life? And the most important question was... How was she going to follow through with the devious plan of seeking out a mate that she would surely not be in love with?
If only pitifully her light gray eyes lifted so that they could scan the horizon for answers. In her mind she had to calculate a plan of execution. She 'had' to stick to the plan! If any one could pull it off it would be her! Val was the one with the boldest of personalities, her twin being much more shy then she. The future of her family rested upon her lithesome shoulders.

Day became night and night became day. Time began to run together for the femme. She never minded being on a ship but the ship was unduly crowded and usually it was a pleasure ship that she was on. This was a big hardship for Val to have to endure but she knew that bigger and more unfavorable tasks were waiting for her.
Val spent most of her time staring out at the horizon wondering if she would ever be happy again. To marry a male that she did not or could not give her heart to for love was the worst of all fates to the female. She hated her father for this! She hated him for asking her and her sister to sacrifice their future for the well being of the family. But then again she could understand.

Time... It's a relative feeling. Being on the ship felt like a lifetime but it did give Val time to think. She needed to get her act together. Her parents were following them in the next ship and surely her father would be pressing down upon her, stabbing it into her brain just what she had to do. Val already made up her mind to separate from them once they met in the new land to which they were traveling. She just wouldn't be able to stand the prospect of him looking over her shoulder every second that she's awake. If he would refuse to do that then all deals were off.
This was the plan that was formulating in her mind. Surely her father would want to have a 'meeting of the minds', likely to just voice his own thoughts. It would be then that Val would break the news to him. She just couldn't concentrate on what she had to do and the fact that she would be feeling his eyes bore into the back of her head all of the time. It was time to stand up to him for once!
************************************
From time to time Val would see land. She contemplated jumping in and swimming for it but she knew that she couldn't leave her sister, the more shy of the two, to fend for herself. Val didn't know how her twin was going to fair. Perhaps Val would win the day when she found a man that was rich enough to support the entire family so that her sister wouldn't have to marry for money. Perhaps....

Val must have worn a path around the ship. She paced. The femme must have looked the sight, and yes creatures did watch her with interest. She was a rich looking femme, pacing a ship that was only deemed worthy enough to carry mail and the poorest of beasts. Val pulled her charade off very nicely given the fact that she was on a ship that cost the least to sail.
Here she was all decked out in her beautiful dress, a different one each day, and the only worldly possessions that she had and managed to save from the storm. It was a good thing to because it was a vital aid to her if she was going to land the richest bachelor in town. Such thoughts disgusted her but she was forced to think about it. Indeed she needed a plan and must keep going over and over it in her mind.

It was past midnight when Viviana finally joined her twin out on the deck of the ship. Viv usually stayed hidden away some place that was quiet and peaceful, a place where she could think. She probably distressed over the fact that their father was, more or less, forcing them to find mates. Viv was 'much' more shy then Val was. They looked like twins of course but with the opposite headfur color, eyes that were a different shade and the fact that Viv was a bit shorter then Val. But their faces where remarkably the same. It was a good thing that they each possessed minor differences.
The pair of female's stood in silence, simply starring at the sky with an abundance amount of awe in their eyes. They were both humbled by the beauty of nature, even though their inner and outer beauty rivaled even the prettiest sunset.
Each needed to say no words. They had that twin connection. Val simply smiled and then wrapped her arm around Viv, giving her a reassuring hug, to inform her that everything was going to be alright. The younger and more frail of the two needed such encouragement. She simply didn't know how she was going to get through this point in her life.
They would be landing soon. This was the only thing that gave the girls some sort of comfort. To be off this 'god-forsaken' ship would be a big relief. Then the two would figure out what to do from there...

By this time the girls had retreated to the spot that they had chosen to sleep, crammed into a large room much like sardines in a can. But at least it was a place to sleep and they had each other in the end. Some beasts were traveling alone and some of them were merely kits that shouldn't have been away from their parents side yet, much less out in the world all by their lonesome.
Val and Viv got some much needed rest....
The pair finally awoke. It was the part of the day where it was a few hours until the sun would peek it's sleep head up over the horizon. It was also the day that they would be arriving at their new home and so the pair were rather excited. They cleaned up, packed their things and then headed toward the deck of the ship, close to where the gang plank would be placed.

Viv began to jump up and down in a merry fashion as she pointed toward something that resembles land as she pointed her finger in that direction. "Look Val! LAND HO! LAND HO!" Val simply chuckled at her sisters antics and then let out a held breath. The most important thing was that they were going to be able to get off of this sardine can. It couldn't happen fast enough to suit the pair of them.
Rosferia's docks were but a mere speck but the twins have never been so happy to see it. Eagerly they ambled even closer to the space that would be for the gang plank, the walk way that would finally put their paws back on dry land. It wasn't that the girls hated to sail on a ship but it was mostly due to the accommodations in which they needed to endure.

Finally they arrive! The disembarkment takes much longer then they both anticipated. Many creatures seem very anxious to get off and so Val and Viv end up being pushed back, almost to the very end. The pair tap into their reserve of patience. At least they could actually see land and it was right within their grasp.....
[THE END]
