A meerkat sat dock side, watching the ships come in. In front of him was a rather large canvas that he was priming so he could paint the ships in the bay.
The sun passed high over head, beating relentlessly on his head, but he did notice, all he noticed was the changing light patterns on the water."Noel." Noel Telious shook himself, feeling the light touch of his little sisters paw. He turned to her, putting his brush and paints down as he did. "Yes Elana?" He asked with a gentle smile, one he reserved especially for her. "Momma said to give this stuff to you." She said as she lifted a basket and a wide brimmed hat up to him. Noel shook his head, his step-mother was always looking out for him it seemed, this time she had sent lunch out to him."Thank you, Elana, tell Step-Momma that I'll be in soon."
As the afternoon drew to a close, Noel began to pack up his paints, casting a disparaging glance at the canvas he had started to pack things up. He had wasted all of the good light trying to get the paints to sit right on the canvas. He began to mutter, berating himself for missing the galleon that he had wanted to paint. "Moved to slow there, Noel. Ach, maybe Granda will have a model in his study of one..." Noel shook his head, of course his grandfather would have one, he had every single ship in existance, or so it seemed. Master Telious? You want me to do that? Noel turned to the young attendant. "If you wouldn't mind, Myles, I would appreciate that," Noel began to move off, half turning back as he remembered something. "But don't move it to far Myles, I intend to finish it tomorrow."
*********** It was mid-morning when Noel got back to the docks. He shook his head, of all the ships that his Granda did have, he didn't have a galleon! Oh well, maybe he'll find something else to paint, mayb e something with less detail. Setting up his paints, he sent Myles of with a soft "Thanks" and set right to mixing up the various paints. "A nice soft blue for the sky, keep the white, white for the clouds and sails,..." A little while latter, he looked up to find a ship to paint. He noticed several man-o-war's sitting in harbor, idle in this time of peace, several merchant ships just coming to dock, and a packet ship, one that carried mail and some of the poorer beasts, coming to dock. Unlike many artists, he considered the more common things in life, like packet ships, (and their passengers) the most interesting things to paint. And he was very good at them to. Settling down to paint, he looked up again to find some figures of beasts to paint, who knows, maybe he would find somebeast really interesting today...

It took hours for the twins to be able to finally step footpaws on the docks. The pair exited, looking rather exhausted but still in good spirits. They were finally at the place that they were to call home. It felt good to be here but at the same time the pair were very nervous. Parental restrictions were placed upon them. The most dreaded and hated one was that they were to immediately start looking for eligible rich males to wed. This brought a certain amount of discomfort to the girls but still they seemed to look at the future with bright eyes and positive thinking,
Val managed to get her things and head for land. Viv let her know that it was fine and that she would be along shortly. The younger twin was forced to struggle and fight to get her things from the ship, one of the crew trying to steal one of her trunks for his very own. Despite her shy personality she managed to lightly beat him off with a closed umbrella. The last thing that she wanted to do was to lose all of her beautiful dresses. It was bad enough that they were now poor but to actually 'look' poor would just be to much to bear!
Once Viviana was situated she decided to daintily sit upon one of her trunks and patiently wait for the dock to finally clear. She appeared to be quite prissy as she sat there with her now opened umbrella lurking above her head, mainly to keep the sun from beating down upon her hatless head. She took this time to scan the area. Viv noted that Val had already managed to begin conversations with at least two local males, which caused Viv to laugh. She had to find this all so humorous. If she didn't put on a happy face she might just break down and cry.
Viviana kept scanning with her lively orbs. Soon they fell upon a male that seemed to be painting. He was looking in her general direction but still she couldn't be so certain. Her eyes forever watched him as he seemed so intrigued by what he was doing. It perked the femme's interest to see a male so involved with 'the arts'. This attribute had to add something special to his personality, or so thought the female meerkat. She smiled with such thinking.

Noel's brush flue over the canvas, trying to catch the milling beasts on the dock and gangplank. He let go a small huff of frustration, there were only a couple beasts holding still enough to paint well. He nearly called it a day when he noticed a a group of three beasts talking on the dock. He quickly began painting again. When he finished with the rough outline of them, his eyes moved elsewhere, still looking for one or more beasts to paint. He found them, one was a beast dressed in all black who seemed to be shimming up or down a rope onto/off of the ship. And the other was sitting just above where the weasel, it seemed, was climbing.. up. Noel put his brush, it had been going on auto pilot when he had first noticed the femme. 'What is that beast doing?' Noel began to move around his painting, towards the ship, just in case.

Edited OOC- Okay since we chatted through pm a bit about things... I edited it a little. I hope that it gives you more to work with.
Viv found that she was enjoying the nice day. As she sat there she began to wonder what her future life would be like. She began to daydream, not really paying any attention to what was going on around her now, having looked away by this time from the male painter. She didn't want to seem like she was staring at him, even though her curiosity was tempting her to stroll up there and take a look at the masterpiece he was working on. But then again sometimes artists could be a little weird like that, not wanting anyone to see their work until it was complete. Then again... Why in the world would he be painting on the docks if he was trying to hide his talent?
The sun beat down on her fur. It felt so lovely, a perfect day for a first contact with her new home. Then something caught her attention, out of the corners of her eyes. At first she noted that the painter was traveling around his canvas and looking down at the ship that she had just gotten off of but then out of the other eye she took note of what he was looking at, Viv took note of the movement of the beast shimming down the rope. Was he going up or going down?

Noel walked down the dock, passing some beasts talking, and the female he had been painting. He nodded towards her, but continued moving. He stopped just at the edge of the docks. "Hello there!" He called over to the weasel. "You on the rope, what are you doing?" The weasel turned a pained look to him. "Ah seem to be stuck in these here ropes; mah paw won't come loose, savvy?" Noel shook his head. "Yes, I do, if by savvy, you mean understand." the weasel rolled his eyes, "Ach, a well bred, Yea, Ah do mean 'understand'." Noel walked a bit to his left. "Well then, do you have a name?" The weasel shook his head in mock despair at this seemly crazy beast. "Ah think Ah can do it....And mah name is Jack" Noel shook his head. "Ok Jack, try all you want." He stood back; paw resting on the hilt of sabre, waiting to see if Jack would change his mind. As he waited, he let his eye's rove over the ship, taking in more detail for his painting. Then his eyes widened, he spun looking quickly to where he had left it. He loosed a quick sigh of relief; no beast was near his painting. He checked the deck for Myles, and then remembered that he had sent the valet back to get lunch a quarter hour ago. He turned his eyes back to the struggling beast on the ropes. Struggling to keep a grin from forming on his face, he called out again. "Jack, are you sure that you don't want some help?" Jack sighed loudly, "If ya insist on being a nuisance..." He called over his shoulder, still struggling, "Alright, Ah'll except you help." He sighed. Noel stepped back from the edge of the dock a few paces, looked at the ropes again, and took off at a run towards the end of the dock. Jumping as he reached the edge, he landed easily, grabbing a hold of the ropes that had caught Jacks paws. Working quickly he soon had the weasels paw uncaught, and the two of them were soon back on the dock. "Thanks for the Mate,” Said the weasel as he stuck his non-injured paw out to shake Noel’s. “Do yah think that ya could give me some directions?” Noel nodded his head. “Where do you want to go Jack?” Jack stood, massaging his sore paw. “Ah’m headed to the office of Markus Telious, Merchant of something or other.” Noel shook his head, bemused at the thought of this beast having anything to do with his Fathers business. He swung a paw in front of him in a slight bow, “After you then Jack, I was just on my way there in fact, I need to check on my errant valet.” With that Noel turned and marched off towards a nearby building, with a large board out front that said “Telious Shipping Inc.” ((Enter curious meerkat maid ))

The male Meerkat was soon walking down the toward the ship, the very one that she had just arrived on. She shifted in her seat, especially so as for a moment their eyes met and he nodded toward her. Of course she smiled, her smile lit up the darkest of places. But after that he seemed to pay her no heed.
Viv watched as the painter, the artist, assisted the male that was caught on the ropes along the side of the ship. Still it was a curious place to be hanging out. As to why he was there was still very puzzling to Viv but she kept her mouth shut, many males still thinking that the femme gender should be seen and not heard. But really she had nothing to offer the two males at any rate.
Her curious eyes watched them as they strolled up the docks. She got up and quickly scurried past them, lugging her most precious box and having a porter bring the rest. For a moment she stopped and gazed at the painting. She didn't linger long for fear that the male may think that she was going to either steal it or mess it up for him. After that she ushered herself along, entering the nearest building so as to inquire about accommodations.

Noel walked in after after Jack, and spotted Myles leaning against the back wall, flirting with a couple of the servant girls from the kitchen. "Jack, The receptionist is over there..." Said Noel, gesturing towards large mahogany desk, "... Maria's on lunch right now, but she will be back soon." Noel backed away and bowed slightly, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go get my valet.."
With that Noel marched over to where Myles stood. He listened in for a moment, then got right up behind him and spook in his ear. "And where exactly did you stop this 'raging fire' Myles...?" Noel walked around in front of him, "Would that happen to be when there was a small grease fire in the kitchen, and the Cook told you to put the sawdust on it, hmmm?" Myles' face paled as much as it could under his dark brown fur, and the girls just giggled at him. Noel took pity on the teen and stopped teasing him, sending the girls back to work, and Myles off to get his lunch.
Noel leaned up against the back wall, watching every one as they moved about. Jack was leaning against the front desk, and the jill that he had seen on the dock walked in the door a few minutes later. Beast watching was a favored past time of his, and served him well at balls and the like... For some reason, his eyes kept drawing back to the jill, even if it was a unconscious movement .

Viv stood there for a few minutes until she grew uncertain that a secretary would ever come back from lunch at all, if indeed that's where she went. Her eyes began to search around for someone to question. It wasn't that big of an area and so soon her attention came to a male, the same male that had been painting a picture on the docks. He looked nice enough and so Viv strolled up to him.
Viviana is a rather short femme, standing at a height of 4' 6". She was the second born twin, being the more frail of the two and almost dying after birth. Her fur is gray in color and around her eyes is a soft black and around her mouth is a slightly darker yet gentle gray. Her fur was indeed felt as soft and fluffy as it looked.
Viv looked up at him with her dark gray stare, her long wavy silver headfur doing a dance over her one eye. Her appearance was unique. Her eyes are large, slightly slanted upward and her lashes are lush and long. Her cheekbones are defined and her lips pouty and large, very inviting and her claws are long, well groomed and are usually painted with a pearl silver polish, to match her hair.
Her plump pouty lips opened to speak but for a moment she paused. Indeed she also adopted the opposite personality of her sister. Viv was the one that was more shy and soft spoken. She cleared her throat. "Excuse me... I was wondering if you know of a hotel around here? I'm, my sister and I, where ever she may be, are looking for a room and some food."
[/i] Viv failed to tell him that perhaps she would, if they were in need of a waitress or a house maid, be filling out an application there. They may have looked rich but that was far from reality. They needed money! [/blockquote]

Noel straightened a little, but still leaned against the wall as the female approached him. As he listened to her request, he gave her a once over, ticking off things that he noticed, a (bad)habit that he had developed some years ago, after a dear friend had died. Nice hair, a little short, looked a bit frail, nice face, seemed a little shy. Noel gave his head an imperceptible shake, and focused his gaze on her face, not quite meeting her eyes.
"Actually, I know of a very good one nearby." He glanced down at her dress, she appeared to have to money necessary to stay at his place. "Actually, it's very nearby, and I would recommend the food to the King himself if he came by." Noel allowed a small smile grow in his features, which actually helped his appearance a lot, as he usually kept a a slight scowl or just plain face at all times. He straitened fully and bowed slightly to her.
"I'm Noel Telious, and I am actually headed there for lunch, would you and your sister care to join me? .. Ah excuse my manners, I forgot to ask your name." He paused, uncertain to as why in the world he had just invited this female and her sister to eat with him, when he didn't even know there names..

The femme felt really short when the male stood up a little more, and he didn't even seem to be straightened to his full height. This caused her to back up a step or two and to look down a little. Inwardly she cursed herself. If she was going to find a rich creature then she would have to step up her game! But being an aggressive flirter wasn't in her, that was her sisters department.
Viv began to concentrate on the business at paw. He was nice enough and she needed to find a rich beast! But what about love? Clearly there was great conflict within her but she simply took a deep breath and continued to converse with the male that stood before her. Slightly she bowed her head. "My name is Viviana Mist and I would be delighted to have lunch with you but as far as my sister goes... She's on her own with this one. I'm sure that she'll catch up with me later." Viv grinned. She knew how Val would be if she saw such a handsome beast that appeared to be rich. Val would be flirting up a storm with him and this Viv simply did not want, not right now.
As customary she tucked her arm in and around his as she took the initiative to turned to walk the out the door. Once they got outside two of the crew that had been love-struck with Viviana was there waiting with her luggage. "Where would you like us to take these for you M'lady?" Viv was completely surprised by their presence but it certainly put on the charade that she was rich as well. Still though she could never adopt the 'snob' personality and so she answered them in a very sweet voice. "Oh! Well... Follow me and I suppose that we can store them in the corner of the eating establishment that we are going to right now." Viv smiled and the two beast simply swooned over her.
Little did Noel know but she planned on trying to get a job at the Tavern. She needed a way to make a living while looking for this rich husband of hers. Perhaps to they would allow her to stay in one of the rooms there as well while she worked.
Oh things were so complicated right now! But Viv managed to keep her composure, hoping that she didn't run into her sister. And so hurriedly she tugged on Noel's arm. "So tell me about yourself Noel. Have you been painting long? What sort of things do you paint? Is it just scenery or other things?" In the meantime as she made conversation with him she was indeed checking him over.
