Ladorak wasn't sure he was ready for this. Wasn't sure if he could swallow the fact that his wife would be having a kit. He just felt so...unprepared. It had felt like an eternity building up to this moment, and now that it had hit him he wasn't sure if he was ready. He had felt so...alone these past few months. As if he wasn't able to confide in his wife about how nervous he felt.
Not daring to voice anything, he had simply withdrawn into himself. Speaking with Vingo, or just having fun with Caden. How would he handle this? He really needed to get his job back. He needed to support his family. He needed to support Caden...Jayd...and the new one.
His own kit...his own kit....how could he handle this now!? He was sweating, perspiring a lake it seemed as he paced up and down in the living room. Caden was down there too, sitting on the armchair and wondering why Ladorak was so nervous. Admittedly he was a bit nervous as well, as he only hoped that Ladorak wouldn't forget about him once he got his own kit. He almost was wishing this wasn't happening, but he knew that it was natural too. Ladorak had finally talked to him about the birds and the bees, and though it had completely grossed Caden out, the kit at least understood things a lot better now.
Something about this felt wrong to the ermine. He would have to go to sea to support his family which meant....not seeing them much. How could he had been so foolish as to get married! He couldn't be a good father like this! He loved Jayd of course but....why had he not considered things more carefully! If only he wasn't so impulsive all the time....but no he couldn't regret this! This was happening all the same, whether he liked it or not. He chided himself inwardly, wanting to just relax and accept this. He was under a lot of strain right now he knew it.
But then he could Jis Bludd, the midwife, on the stairs. "Jal Fugate, everything went well. I think you should.."
"Really!? Well how is she? How's the kit!?" he demanded, his voice catching in his throat.
Smiling, Bryony Bludd nodded. "It's better if you go see for yourself....but everything's fine." Nodding shakily, the ermine charged up the stairs, Caden launching himself off the chair to follow. He was wearing his flat cap today, it having become a favorite of his.
Throwing open the door to the master bedroom, Ladorak gulped and slowly entered. "Jayd?" he asked. "How is everything?"

Indeed it was a hard birth for Jayd, she being on the petite side, but she did it and was more then happy when it was all over. Despite the pain that she felt she simply got threw it with the help of the mid-wife. It was after it was all over and done that she was really glad that her and Lad had decided to go with the mid-wife, a femme that could understand and had the practice of what the stoat-tess was going through.
A surprise was just on the peak of the horizon for the female though. She knew that she grew rather large and just assumed that the reason was that the kit would be chunky and healthy. But instead there was another entire reasonable and logical explanation. The married couple wouldn't fully understand until it was all over.
Jayd's brow was still beaded with sweat, her headfur completely soaked from the exertion of the entire process. She was weak but the mid-wife managed to help her prepare herself for the arrival of her husband. And so Jayd waited for him to come up the steps, taking them two-by-two until the door was almost slammed open.
The few moments before Ladorak arrived Jayd had drifted asleep. The thud of the door slightly rattled her from slumber but she wasn't dazed or confused. Jayd knew that it would be her mate. She knew that he would be concerned and that he'd want to see their offspring right away. And so sat there Jayd and their bundle of joys. A smile radiated her features as she held them so proudly.
Jayd wondered how long it would take for her mate to say something or for the realization to sink into his brain. The femme chose not to say anything but to allow it to all come to him on it's own. She simply sat there with a kit in each arm as she smiled and looked as beautiful as the day that they were married. Beneath her arms the mid-wife stuffed pillows so that Jayd wouldn't have to use any more strength then necessary to hold up the babies.

Ladorak's eyes went wide at the sight before him. But wait....wait....TWO!? There were TWO of them?! Two...of them.....
The ermine's knees felt weak, his head was spinning and he could barely support himself. He felt like he could faint at any time now. But this was.....TWO!?
He felt so overwhelmed with emotions right now. Glad that it was over, and glad he was no longer in fear and doubt about this. So many things were passing through his whirling mind right now. He was finally a father! But not a father of one.... a father of two! Two! Two kits!
Putting a paw on the wall to steady himself, the ermine inched his way forward, almost as if he were afraid to approach his kits. But there they were.....a long time dream of his finally realized. Finally....realized.
Gulping, Ladorak stood close by his wife's bedside, fighting that whirling motion that was passing through his mind and affecting his site. "Jayd......are they.....are they doing OK?" He looked them over. Were they different genders? Same? A smile creased his features now and his eyes misted up, the jack being at a complete loss for words.
Caden was standing doorway, breathing in a soft "Whoa" as he noticed that there were two of them as well.

Vingo was not the queasy type, but there was something about kit births that made his stomach tumble in a most uncomfortable manner. Because of this, he had spent most of his day outside and away from the tense atmosphere. He strummed the Lady Sonora contently as he looked over the view of the sea from the back of the house, sitting leaned against the trunk of a tree. The marten partly felt somewhat bad for leaving Caden for most of the day - the kit was far more interested in the happenings than his uncle - but Vingo's uneasiness had won out over his guilt.
It wasn't until his stomach started grumbling that Vingo decided to go back inside, that and the fact that his paws were beginning to go numb with the damp, cold sea air. Upon entering, he wavered near the kitchen for a moment, still not feeling quite comfortable enough in Ladorak's home to serve himself anything. He decided to go and see how Caden and the ermine were doing. He was not sure if he could bring himself to enter the room to see how Jayd was.
Vingo found Caden in the doorway, looking inside with wonder. He put a gentle paw on the kit's shoulder, looking down at him when Caden looked up. Then he forced himself to peer into the room. Twins? He was not sure if he felt sorry more for Jayd or Ladorak. It certainly was a surprise.
Having had quite enough of the birthing room, and before the kits started squawling too loudly, Vingo squeezed Caden's shoulder affectionately and made a hasty retreat back to the kitchen to find something to eat.

Jayd noted that Lad looked a little flushed. This caused her to smile as he managed to walk forward. "I'm sorry Ladorak. This must be such a shock for you. If I would have known I would have certainly warned you. I thought that I was a bit large but I just assumed that it was a healthy chunky kit." Jayd laughed and looked down at the babies and then back up at Lad. "They are doing fine. It seemed like they will be good kits. They cried a bit after being born but they both quieted down pretty quickly." Jayd kissed each one of the babes foreheads. "Come Ladorak. Come see your daughter and your son." The stoat-tess was all smiles.
It didn't take much for Jayd to noticed Caden at the door. She gave him a smile but soon after he was gone. Jayd paid little heed to this because she was simply to tired to think of much else. "Would you like to hold one?" The mid-wife rushed over to Ladorak and showed him a chair that was near to him. It was quite close to Jayd's bed, the perfect place to sit and hold his newborn babies. He would be near to his wife and pretty level with the bed that she laid in.

((Caden didn't leave the room Jayd, it was Vingo who left, but he'll be dropping out in a bit.))
Ladorak nodded shakily, pulling up a chair and taking a seat, feeling a great relief at being able to sit, as if standing were just too much effort for him right now. Breathing out a sigh, the ermine nodded, his white fur standing on end a bit but only because there had been so much tension released from his body.
Caden could feel his uncle behind him, and a brief squeeze on his shoulder was all that happened before the marten left. Caden actually wanted to talk with Ladorak...ask him about things, but he could see too that the mustelid was busy. Taking a few steps into the room, the pink eyed albino remained silent.
Ladorak reached his paws out, gripping the closest one, the male. Picking it up, he held it, cradling it in his arms. "How about those names we discussed? I guess....we can use both now. Thersander for this one..." he reached out, running a claw under the kit's chin, who burped a bit and giggled. "And for the female well.....Caden..." Ladorak looked slowly over at the albino, who fixed him in his own gaze. "We were thinking of naming her after your mother.....Nuori....."
Caden now felt sudden shock...but also....what was this he was feeling? It was so...indescribable now. Warmth yes. Warmth....and just...something he'd never really felt before in his life. An observer and listener would call this love. Not of course attraction or anything like that but more along the lines of filial...as if he were part of something bigger now. But it scared the kit a bit too, as he didn't fully understand these emotions. He wanted to speak with Ladorak so badly, but didn't want to interrupt anything either. After giving Ladorak a quick smile, he excused himself, making his way out of the room.
Exhaling heavily, he was glad to be alone...but he wanted to talk as well, and thought of his uncle, who had gone downstairs. Thudding down the steps himself, the marten walked into the kitchen upon seeing Vingo there. "Hi Vin." he said, walking up behind the bigger marten. "What are you doing?" he asked, not being able to see over the counter too well before noticing that his uncle was in fact getting some food.

OOC- Sorry I thought that he did.
Jayd watched her mate with their son. He was a natural. She also watched Caden. He seemed to feel really out of place. The new mother would have offered him to climb up on the bed and see Nuori but he was gone to quickly. It's just like him to stay put for only a few minutes at a time.
It wasn't long after Caden left that Jayd laid her head back. She was exhausted to be sure but she also felt refreshed. Now it seemed to be the beginning of her and Lad's life together and it felt good. The femme smiled and let out a soft sigh.
Immediately the mid-wife came to her to see if she was feeling fine. Jayd's eyes cracked open as her face was being felt for fever and a glass of cool water was being pressed to her lips. Indeed she needed to be hydrated. There was no way that she would be lacking with the expertise of the mid-wife. Jayd was in good paws.

Vin turned with a slice of bread in one paw and a chunk of cheese in the other to see Caden approaching from behind him. He smiled at his albino nephew, chewing the bite of bread he had just taken before speaking.
"Gettin' some food. I'm fairly famished. Would you like any?"
Vingo wondered how the younger marten was dealing with this. He could still recall the turbulent emotions he had experienced when Nuori had been born, though he expected Caden's case was slightly different due to the fact that the albino was not in fact Ladorak's son, and the kits being born were not his biological siblings.
"So, how're you doing with all this, Caden? It's a big change, eh?"

Ladorak smiled down at his wife, his eyes a bit misty. Sniffing, the ermine smiled. "Well so long as you're doing alright. Post birth can be dangerous or so I hear. Just be strong...you'll get through this...I know you will." He reached out one paw whilst using his other arm to hold Thersander.
His right paw rested upon Jayd's shoulder. "Are those names alright then? Oh.....I should talk to Caden soon as well. He must be...well I just hope he's doing OK. Hopefully he's with Vingo though." Ladorak commented, looking at the door now. He cared deeply for Caden.....quite deeply in fact, and wanted to make sure the marten was alright, but at the same time he needed to ensure that his mate was safe as well and could get through the post birth process.
**************
Caden silently climbed up onto a stool that was at the counter, straddling it with his legs as he looked across the wooden surface at his uncle. "Maybe some bread would be good." Caden responded first to his uncle's offer of food. For awhile though, all the albino could do was stare off into space, looking at the widow that was over the wash basin.
"Well....I...I find I'm just....I don't know what this is called Vin." he finally admitted. "It was the same kind of thing I felt a few weeks ago, after Ladorak returned from his trip. He left me with Jal Calone, that blacksmith from before. It was just a weekend but when we went to the tavern and Ladorak got back I....."
He wrinkled his brow, as if trying to recall. "I remember being so happy to see him. Excited even. I wanted to jump up and like...have him catch me you know?" he asked, looking up at Vingo now and frowning a bit in a thoughtful manner. "I've never....I've never felt that way about...any beast. Well....I've lived with Helandria for years too but I've never.....felt this before."
"And just now....well I don't know. I was really happy for Ladorak....and well....I guess I was worried too. I don't want to be forgotten by him you know? By him and Jayd. I.....I wanted to say something.....but I had no idea what to say. I just wanted to be nice for a change....yet I couldn't think. I just felt....what is this Vin?" He looked up with pleading eyes at his uncle. "Even when back in the tavern I didn't understand what it was so I just sat there....I wanted to greet Ladorak but I didn't understand...so I just pretended to focus on my checkers game but...I felt so good too....."
He reached his paws out, drumming his claws on the counter top, hoping his uncle could provide some answers.

"I'm fine..." Jayd said to Lad and then to the Mid-wife who was at her side every time the femme moved or even sniffled. She never did like being fussed over like this but she knew that it was for the best. She 'did' just give birth to twins. 'Twins'.... It was so exciting but at the same time scary. How would she be able to do it when Ladorak was gone? Jayd kept these fears to herself, not wanting Lad to get even more stressed then he probably already was.
With a smile on her face Jayd turned to look at Ladorak. She nodded. "Of course the names are wonderful. I love them." Jayd groaned and allowed her head to fall into the pillow. She was tired and weak but at the same time she felt glowing. Really the femme wanted nothing more then to get up out of this stupid bed and go about her business but she was sure that her mate would have a holy fit. She laughed at the thought.
Nuori began to fuss in her arms. Jayd looked down at her and smiled as the child seemed to be hungry. It was a natural thing for both the mother and the kit. Eagerly the small kit fed as Jayd talked more with Lad. "I can't wait to be up and about." Jayd looked around. "Sweet heart? Where's Caden? I thought that he might want to see the kits, his new brother and sister. I think that it would be good for him to be a part of all of this. It's a very special day after all. Don't you?"" Jayd's eyes met with Lads. "I hope that he knows that I want him here." Nuori was really awake now as she wiggled in Jayd's arms. The Mid-wife rushed over with another pillow to wedge under the new mother's arm.
