Camille nodded happily as well, a crude movement of his head, bobbing down and then up, but it did have a sort of charm to it under the surface. "Y-yes....I...I do hope to s-s-see more of you here. W-w-was a pleasure as s-s-said." the squirrel said in reply. He too was looking forward to getting to know this fellow rodent better, and what better way than for Sciurus to become a member of the club?
"Well..." Otto stated, rubbing his chin. "Do you still want to talk to other members? I mean I could introduce you to the President next." He motioned over at the well dressed pine marten. "He'd be the one to speak to about joining the club as well. Would you perhaps like to meet him next?" the blue furred otter asked with a raised brow.

"Might as well make my acquaintances with as many creatures as possible before I ask to join, and seeing as the Club's President is over there, I may as well meet him next. I'd be delighted if you were to introduce me to him," the hypnotist responded, still nervous, albeit only slightly.

"Alright, this way my friend." Otto took his arm and led him towards the marten, Camille waving "bye" with his tail as he turned back to his group. "Now then, his name happens to be Philip Eglantine and he serves as President of our Club. He's a right good chap, and a playwright to boot. Pens plays and dramas for the stage that have received critical acclaim from numerous crowds. He also acts too I believe, and loves starring or at least putting in cameo roles in his own plays. He tends to do better with comedies though than he does tragedies, as his tragedies seem to flop, but don't ever tell him that to his face." the otter muttered as he led him over to the dignified looking gentlemammal.
"Ah, Otto Kurtz, very good to see you again." The marten turned to face his friend, his voice lower and warm and very slow, like an autumn day if Otto could describe it. It was quite unlike Camille's. "And who do we have here? A new interested squirrel eh?"
"Yes Mr. Eglantine. This is....Sciurus Whirlpaw, and we're hoping to induct him" Otto didn't mind using the pun as well "into our group."
"Aha! Very good!" the martin doffed his cap politely at the squirrel, and bowed a bit. "Good to see new members. How do you like everything so far?" was his question to Sciurus.

"It all seems quite interesting, sir," the squirrel replied, the pine marten's voice helping him to relax a little. He became less tense as he held out his paw for Philip to shake. He often greeted creatures with a pawshake, but definitely felt it was the right and proper thing to do in these circumstances.
"As do you. Philip the playwright President, eh? Pleased to meet you, and I hope I can fit in here, that is, if you accept me into your ranks."

"We'd be MORE than willing to accept you." the marten replied heartily, giving a firm shake of the paw that the squirrel had offered him. Strange though....that this squirrel had called him by his first name. It wasn't that the marten minded that, it was just not something he heard all too often. Everyone here was all so formal towards, when he often times wished they'd be more like Sciurus and address him more informally.
"Provided of course you share the same passions we do towards pushing for a democracy and well...deposing the King." he said in a slightly lower voice. "Tell me though, have you seen any of my plays?"
"Ah Sciurus has been with us here in Cosnair only a short time. I do not believe he's had the privilege yet of viewing one of your plays Mr. Eglantine." Otto cut in on the squirrel's behalf.
"Oh? No bother then. Tell me then, I'm always fascinated to hear what potential new members have to say. What interests you most about the Revolution, and why do you wish to support it?" was the marten's rather direct question to him. So many creatures had different answers, and it always interested Philip in seeing the reasoning behind them.

"Simple, Philip... er, you don't mind me calling you that, do you?," the squirrel asked, before continuing.
"Equal rights for everybeast, a say in how your country is run, and being able to speak out if you feel you are being treated unfairly, without fear of being attacked, or worse. As for what interests me most about it, well, to tell you the truth, it's the fact that it seems to only have started spreading from Cosnair to the rest of the country recently. As I've told Otto, the first I heard about it was when I arrived in Cosnair. Ah, but that's a drawback if you've lived a solitary existence for many seasons as I have: you've no way of receiving news, so it's little wonder I only realised the strife in Cosnair when I got here.
I must say, however, it's nice to have a middle ground between the extremists and the more laid-back supporters of the revolution. I am a pacifist, you see, but I am behind the Cordeliers Club one hundred percent, as I support our cause, and will strive to aid it through any means I deem necessary," Sciurus replied, his blue eyes shining, as he became ever more determined to help the Revolution.

The marten's head rocked back a bit in surprise at the very direct and yet well informed answer of the squirrel on both parts. First, his reason for wanting to help was quite poetic, and it was possible that this fellow might even give Camille a run for his money. Such passionate prose was not often spoken by even the club's own members, and so to hear that from one who was admittedly not familiar with the Revolution was rather a pleasant surprise that had caught him unawares.
Either Otto had done a REALLY good job, or this squirrel shared the level of commitment already that it often times took months for others to find. "My, my, you are the little orator, aren't you?" Philip asked him with a hint of praise. "Yes...it's fine if you call me Philip...." he replied hastily to Sciurus's first question.
"Even pacifists have a home here of course. You and Camille are polar opposites, for while he doesn't always indulge in violence, he believes it's necessary for us to get to where we need to be. I find that an....interesting contrast." the marten said as he looked from Sciurus to Otto. "Of course with that said that doesn't mean he's a bloodthirsty maniac, only that he believes in its necessity and the impossibility to do what we do completely peacefully. Still....you are rather impressive Mr. Whirlpaw. Would you perhaps.....like to be inducted in to our ranks right now?"
He turned back to face the rodent, no longer looking at him out of the corner of his eye. His dignified countenance bore a smile upon it, and an expectant look within his eyes. Otto stood by silently, positive that whatever choice Sciurus made it would be to the squirrel's own desires and not to anyone else's.

"I would indeed, sir. I am a pacifist, as I said, and will not be much help in battle, but I am sure that I can help in some other way. Thank you for complimenting me on what you believe to be my skill as an orator, by the way," Sciurus replied modestly.
"So you know, the only part Otto has played in getting me to where I am now is that he explained the situation to me, and I've decided to join the Cordeliers Club after dwelling on what he told me for a while, and making an informed decision that I hope will be of benefit to you all."

"Hahah!" The martin couldn't help but chuckle at both the squirrel's modesty and his insistence that it was a decision that he had come to on his own. "It's alright my new friend. You don't have to defend yourself. You aren't on trial after all." Philip replied with a sparkle in his eyes.
Otto himself was sharing in the martin's chuckle, but it was good humor and not contemptuous. "Seems you like to stick up for yourself mate, that's good!" the otter said warmly in once again his native tongue.
"Very well then. If you're ready for the induction please raise your right paw if you would." Philip instructed Sciurus, adopting a more serious tone now.

The squirrel raised his right paw without a word. This paw had a birthmark on it, that was shaped like a spiral, and the birthmark had given rise to Sciurus' nickname in his younger seasons, Whirlpaw. The name had stuck, and was now the hypnotist's surname.
He stood tall, looking straight ahead, waiting for the next step in his induction into the Cordeliers Club.
