In truth Jayd was very tired. Being pregnant had a way of doing that to a female, plus it has been a rather long day. She smiled when Ladorak squeezed her knee affectionately but even with that she was still having a hard time staying awake. It wasn't that she was bored or anything either. She loved traveling.
Softly she kissed Lad on the neck, not being able to reach his cheek. "I'm tired love. I'm just going to lay back and rest. But don't worry I'm listening." Jayd again draped her legs over his lap and then laid back. The seat was long enough and it was a comfortable position. It would also afford her fiance a paw on her leg and it would help to hold her up.... just in case she fell asleep.

Ladorak was slightly disappointed that she wouldn't offer to contribute to their wedding plans.....but it was alright. It had been an extremely hectic night for all of them, and Ladorak himself felt like getting some shut eye in the carriage ride back to Thorpe.
"Then you just rest my dear. We'll be home in a few hours, then can all get some well earned rest I think." the stoat had worn himself out, and truth be told he was tired of job seeking....at least for now. He could devote the next several months to his pregnant fiancee and then.....he would be a father. Father...the words seemed to leap up into his throat but go nowhere from there. How would he...handle that? He was already getting good practice with Caden he assumed. He would just.....need to work on his parenting skills this year. It would be his goal.
Looking at the coin that Caden held, he remembered Gaylor's words. "Caden...why don't you ask Luxe about the coin?" Ladorak suggested, but got a negligible response from the marten kit. "OK....I'll ask. What's the story behind the coin Luxe?" the ermine directed his question at the blacksmith now.

Luxe was slumped back against the wall of the carriage, rubbing his throbbing head. "Oh that." Luxe's ears perked when he heard the word wedding. He looked up at Ladorak as he asked about the coin. "Oh, So Gaylor gave you one to?" This question was addressed to Caden. He reached under his shirt and pulled out an iron coin. It was an exact duplicate of the one Caden held, except Luxe had put this one on a chain so he could wear it around his neck. Not talking to anyone in particular, he continued.
"Gaylor gave me this about a year after I became his apprentice." Luxe trailed off, remembering what a pawful he had been back then. He had been a very bitter teen, and had done every thing to make every one else suffer.
"I was a lot like Caden is now." Luxe finally met the Jal's eyes, albeit he was very reluctant. "Jal Fugate, I would tell you, but I'm only supposed to answer that question when it comes from the beast who the coin was given to. In this case Caden." said Luxe as he gestured slightly towards the kit. "And only when he grows up enough to decide to take responsibility." Luxe grinned ruefully, "It took me seven years to grow up enough to ask." Luxe looked down, hoping that he hadn't sounded
((Sorry it took so long to get this up))

Ladorak understood perfectly now what that coin was about. It was a message....but a message that would only be conveyed when the bearer was mature enough and ready to receive it. Nodding, the stoat pulled back into the seat, looking across at Caden. When he's mature.....how many years at sea would he have to spend with Ladorak in order to come to realize true responsibility and growth?
"Seven years eh?" Ladorak looked from Luxe to Caden, a smile spreading on his face. Seven years.....Caden would be....18 by then. If Ladorak couldn't whip him into shape by then well....he'd take this as a challenge then, and he hoped that in time Caden would too.
As for Caden, his plan had backfired. Instead of getting the answer, he got nothing, and he was even more annoyed now with the lack of knowledge on this coin than he had been before. His curiosity had been tweaked by these two, and he didn't like playing games where he was left in the dark. He now REALLY wanted to know. "But that's not fair." He grumbled.
"Well....that might perhaps be the first lesson to be learned then Caden." Ladorak said, trying not to sound too harsh. "Some things....we can't change. Some things.....we may regret happening for the rest of our lives." his voice was very low now....and it was clear that he didn't just mean Caden's life.....but what further meaning were behind the mustelid's words wasn't clear.
Ladorak of course meant himself, but he tried not to let the past haunt him too much. Looking over at Jayd, he smiled tiredly. "You doing alright love? I feel bad just sitting here discussing things with Caden and Luxe. Sure you don't want my attention for anything?" he asked, putting forward a light joke that was still sincere.
((Is there much else that anyone wants to do, or should we wrap this up?))

Luxe smiled as he realized Ladorak understood why he wouldn't tell him what it meant. Luxe turned to Caden and ruffled the kit's ears. "Maybe you'll grow up faster than I did."
Luxe leaned back against the seat and turned his face to the wall. Settling back for a long trip back towards Thorpe by taking a nap, a very looonng nap, and real this time....
((that wraps Luxe up, What about Jayd?))

Jayd wanted to sit up and chat so badly but her body just wouldn't allow for that. She's had a long and trying day. It started out in the carriage and to the gathering and now it's ending in the same manner, but this time it sure felt like there were much more bumps then on the trip in. Jayd was finding that it was hard on her, she was more and more pregnant each day and even though she wasn't showing yet she still felt the toll that it was taking on her. Indeed she needed much more rest then she was getting but her spirit was eager to spend as much time as possible with Ladorak before he would be forced to ship out to sea.
The femme wouldn't complain, she refused to. She wouldn't tell Lad that she wasn't feeling all that great, possibly because she hadn't gotten a chance to eat at the party since Caden required their attention. Even though Jayd wasn't his mother she was already sacrificing for his benefit, though she needed to learn to insist on taking time for herself, especially for their unborn kits sake.
She looked up at him when he spoke to her with one eye cracked open and a sleepy smile etched over her features. The fem reached for his paw so that she could give it a reassuring squeeze. "I'm fine Ladorak. I just can't wait to get home and into my own bed. You should also get some sleep. We don't have any gin and tonics with us." She knew that if he stressed to much and didn't get enough sleep on top of it he would end up sick. This worried Jayd very much.
Soon she fell fast asleep, her legs gently falling over and bumping into Lad's stomach each time they hit a crevasses in the road. It was hard to sleep in a carriage but some sleep for the female was better then none, plus sleeping on the ride only made it seem like it went faster. Indeed. When they finally arrived they came to a grinding halt, the horses putting up a bit of a fuss. They to were eager to get to the barn, have their brush down and then get to eat, drink and rest.

Ladorak knew Jayd was right. He needed his rest He was exhausted, and if he got sick he'd be woefully unprepared. Nodding at her, he agreed completely. "You're right dear.....best not over exert myself." he said, smiling down at her. He was happy she cared so much for him. He was fortunate to have her as his fiancee.
The ride was slow....and Ladorak dozed through most if, finally waking up when the carriage jolted to a halt in front of his house. It was dark out still, and Ladorak picked up the now sleeping Caden, and held out a paw to help Jayd alight from the carriage as well. The driver would take the horses to the local stables and rest them there for the night before making his way back to Muggidrear.
Fighting to keep his eyes awake, he bid Luxe Calone a good evening, helped Jayd into the house, tucked Caden into bed, and finally crawled under the sheets next to his fiancee, falling asleep almost immediately. A fulfilling and troubling night that had worked out in the end. Caden would heal in a few weeks and he'd be good as new. It would all work out for them somehow....they would get by....and he would be a father. These were the stoat's last thoughts as he drifted off into a deep and peaceful slumber....
