"Yes.....I think it's time to meet my cousin in the flesh." Monty murmured, taking the amethyst from his fellow weasel as she began to walk a bit away from them, talking about bathing before heading to meet Spindrick. Monty took a pocket watch out of his vest and nodded. "We should have time for you to clean up."
The warden badger cleared his throat. "Well.....if you're pressed for time to catch this cousin of yours, I could let you use the guard bathing areas. Miss!" he called out to Miri from where she was down the hall. "The bathing rooms are at the end of the hallway on your left. The guards in this wing are all working today, they won't be back until tonight, so you won't have anybeast bothering you as you bathe."
Monty nodded at her, showing he didn't mind. "We have time as I said Jis Talien. Take what time you need. I can wait." the weasel detective said politely. He intended to fill her in about his cousin Spindrick on the way over to confront him. It would take around ten to fifteen minutes to walk so they'd have time to get a briefing in on him on the way.

Miri paused in her stride down the hallway. “A bath now would be great, thank you Warden.” Miri followed the wardens directions down at the end of the hallway, turning into the room, locking the door behind her, just in case….
Miri quickly removed her clothes and stepped into the water she had drawn, quickly cleaning off her clothes and body as quickly as possible, using soap that she carried in her shoulder pack. Soon she was climbing out of the tub and re-dressing, as she dried off, she called towards the door, “Jal Sylver, are you there?” not waiting for a reply she continues, keeping her voice raised so he would be able to hear her. “Jal Sylver, what do you expect your cousin to do when we show up?”
((Does the Warden even have a name?))

((He hasn't given his name yet, though at this point since they'll be leaving there probably isn't any point to him giving one. )) Montegu Sylver conversed with the warden in the hallway in quiet tones, asking him various questions about the disposition of the prisoner when he was brought in, what he was like, and how he had acted once imprisoned. He must have kept the jewel safe the entire time he was in the Chatelet. Miri had soon called out ot him however, and headed over to her door. "Yes, I'm here Jis Talian." he said in response to her call. "My cousin?" he called back to her. "Well.....any number of things really. He can be unexpected....but chances are he'll greet me cordially and continue to challenge me. If I lack proof of any wrongdoing on his part, he knows I can't touch him.....or maybe he's just agreeing to meet me for the thrill of it all. Either way....I'll fill you in on the way over there I think." he said, stepping back in case she was getting ready to exit. "Thank you for your help." he told the warden, who nodded but seemed to be expecting something more. "Ah right....payment for your help I suppose..." the weasel murmured, and dug around in his pockets until he came out with some gold coins, pawing them over to the badger, who took them gratefully. "Hey uh.....if you do manage to arrest this cousin of yours....make sure he ends up in here eh? If he he is the one guilty of the theft of the Crown Jewels....I'd be much obliged to be the one who gets their paws on him." the warden said, winking. "I will try sir, though Spindrick is a Galdean citizen, so it would depend if he needs to be repatriated or not. But yes.....I'll see what I can do." Truth be told though, Montegu really didn't want to imprison his cousin in a place like this. Too old, too dark, too....dreary. It was too old fashioned for his tastes, and he'd rather have none of it if he could help it. Turning on his heel, Monty stood there with his paws resting on the silver tipped handle of his cane, waiting for Miri to emerge so that they could be on their way. A meeting with Spindrick....it had been too long since Monty had last seen his anarchist cousin.....how would it go down this time?

Miri finished dressing, braiding her wet hair back, then securing it back at the nape of her neck with some bobby pins. Throwing the rest of her things back into their places she immerged with her things packed, ready to leave.
Turning to the Warden, she nodded and smiled to him, saying “Thanks for all the help Warden,” here she wrinkled her nose, “You really should get somebeast down there to do some spring cleaning, it…” She shrugged, not really knowing how to describe it.
Miri stepped to Monty’s side, actually just behind him, motioning slightly for him to take the lead.
((feel free to auto Miri to wherever their headed.))

The badger merely snorted. No way would HE authorize any cleaning of THAT pit. Those prisoners were all scum....none of them deserved such treatment, at least in his eyes, though various beasts, Monty included, would probably disagree with him. He escorted them downstairs as the weasel detective led the way. Monty said nothing until they reached the front gate, bid the Warden farewell, and stepped out into the streets.
"I don't believe I shall ever want to visit a place like that again unless the business is quite pressing. Rosferian jails were never really my cup of tea." the weasel remarked, heading across the street and in the direction of the King's Palace. "It's less than 10 blocks in this direction." Monty pointed with his cane, and began walking along the riverfront. The Trist flowed below them, in the direction they were heading, steadily to the sea. The sea over which his home island nation lay. Ah well, they had just gotten here, he wasn't homesick yet, it's just that this place wasn't Galdea.
"Now then....let me tell you a bit about my cousin. He's not...bloodthirsty or violent, like many criminals are. He has a love anarchy, and a love of the fields. He believes that animals should be living naturally out in the wild without cities and technology. He'll resort to any means in order to accomplish this goal. He's had various schemes in the past. He tried to blow up Muggidrear one time using explosives in the sewers, he tried to put the entire city to sleep as well in order to wreak havoc and destroy property while everybeast slept...and he tried to arm some of the populace as well to lead a revolt. His intentions might be honorable but....he's deranged in the sense that anarchy is not true justice. If everybeast were made "mild" again so to speak, why....laws would fall by the wayside, and it's mammalian nature to struggle to be on top, so you'd have constant conflict over who would be the dominant one....no his vision of a leaderless world is only that....a vision, and not possible in reality." Monty stated, shaking his head.
"He's cunning, though it's debatable which of us is smarter. He has street smarts, I'll give him that, and he's fairly educated, but he never went any sort of school for very long as he was too much of a trouble maker for his teachers. He frequents poor houses when he's not committing a crime as he doesn't take an honest job and thus rarely has any money for a home, much less for rent. Um....oh yes....be careful when talking to him. He has an uncanny ability for hypnosis, and has been known to induce unsuspecting creatures into trances simply by looking deeply into their eyes, so avoid prolonged eye contact with him if you are able to. Other than that....he can be unexpected, so just expect....him to pull something. What I can't really say. He CAN sit down and have a pleasant conversation with you if he so chooses, but in the next moment can suddenly spring a trap on you or launch an escape attempt if he feels you're the one trying to trap him."
They were at the series of palaces along the riverfront now, most of them serving as a museum, but the one on the west was the King's Winter Palace, and it was there that King Augustine XVI was under virtual house arrest, unable to leave his palace for fear of his life. If he did go out, it was under heavy escort, and it was mostly just to head across the courtyard to the Legislative Assembly building, which was the large enclosed former horse track building only a short distance away.
They walked along the courtyard wall, finally reaching an entrance and stepping past two armed members of the King's Scarlet Guard and into a lush garden and park area that was open to the public and stood in front of Augustine's Palace. The Scarlet Guard moved not a muscle when Monty and Miri walked by, not even so much as blinking. They were highly trained professionals after all, and only reacted if there were perceivable threats around them or were otherwise ordered to by Major von Bachmann, the mongoose head of security at the King's Palace. They were foreigners, every one of them, and this prevented them from committing treasonous acts, as foreigners were not connected to the throne of Rosferia in any way and thus couldn't take power if something happened to the King. They devoted themselves to the King's safety, and it was a trying but very well paid lifestyle.
"Now then....where are you Spindrick....." Monty murmured, scanning the tables where beasts were gathered to eat their lunches. "Aha!" the weasel exclaimed, his eyes resting on the backside of one particularly clad weasel. He was about Monty's height and build, and was dressed in moderately well clothes. They would be considered middle class at best, but here and there were some holes where moths had taken a bite or two. A prominent white lightning shaped scar, the Sylver birthmark, ran down his face in the same way Monty's did. The two birthmarks were identical in fact, with nothing to distinguish the two. It came up from the right eye and zigzagged it's way into the crown of the head, until it stopped just between the ears.
"That's him." Spindrick was eating a danish of some sort and sipping some coffee, reading the newspaper with a smile on his lips. He seemed quite jolly in fact, and it was hard to imagine him as a criminal. "Well then.....why don't you go over and start a conversation with him. He doesn't know your face, doesn't know you're affiliated with me. Try and find out what you can. I'll approach in a few minutes. I just want to give this courtyard a good looking over and find all possible exits and escape routes. Remember..." Monty stated as a last minute thought. "Avoid looking directly into his eyes for too long. Not saying he WILL hypnotize you.....it's just a precaution." He separated himself from Miri now, began to wander about nonchalantly, acting like an upper class beast on a stroll in the park, which for all intents and purposes he was. His silver topped cane and his impeccably good clothes suggested as much. Of course though, he made sure to only wander out of Spindrick's line of sight, whilst keeping a sharp eye on what Miri would be doing in order to make sure nothing went wrong.

Miri bobbed her head along with what he was saying. Then she paused just outside the door, not wanting Spindrick to see them enter together, if he was facing them anyway. She poked her snout around the door, spotted him, then pulled back again. “Ok then Boss, Talk to you in a few minutes.”
Miri stepped slowly past him, with two changes to her attire. One was a pair of dark spectacles and a long, thin stick. Moving slowly and waving the stick in front of her as if she couldn’t see, if the beast can’t see, who in their right mind would try to hypnotize them?
She moved slowly svoiding beasts as her stick touched their legs or tails, occasionally tripping over a tail here and there. As she made her way slowly, tapping chairs that she knew had beasts in them, apologizing profusely to them when she hit them. She made her way towards the table where Spindrick sat. Eventually she hit the empty chair across from Spindrick. She smiled at the space just to the left of him “Is anybeast sitting here?”

Looking up from his newspaper, Spindrick greeted the newcomer with a smile. "Why of course not!" he said, motioning with a paw towards the chair...but then stopped, noticing that this weasel seemed blind. Well what a pity! Such a jill as her that had lost her sight! And so young too! He kicked the chair out for her, making sure she had plenty of room to sit down.
"You may sit, Jis...or Madame if you're from this country." he said, folding the paper and placing it on the table. "But me, I come from Galdea, so Jis is customary for me." he said politely. Indeed, this Spindrick seemed to be quite charming and slick, and not at all like a dangerous criminal, which he was of course.
"I was just finishing up my lunch you see. Or maybe dinner if you come from this country." Dinner was lunch and supper was the last meal of the day. He immediately felt like smacking himself over the head though for saying "you see." Well....at least she couldn't actually see him though. He'd just have to work on not offending her in any way, shape, or form. "So yes....what brings you to the Palace Gardens? Do you stop here often, or are you not from around here?" this Spindrick was quite the conversationalist he was, and he picked up his coffee to take another sip of it.
Monty was meanwhile, studying Spindrick from a different angle, and working out all possible routes he could take to get out of the courtyard. Spindrick probably enjoyed dining in sight of the King's Palace. It made him feel almost equal....at least in Monty's mind. Spindrick had no respect for authority, and thus sitting so close to the King's Palace probably left him feeling a bit empowered.
He was about to approach the table a bit more closely now when he felt a beast brush up against his side. "Pardon me." said a thick, sultry voice.
"No, no...my mistake...." his words caught in his throat as he looked to the left of him at the beast and immediately blanched under his fur. "J...Jis Sveltlana!" he exclaimed, feeling his throat close up as he glimpsed the beautiful female lemming.
"Yes....small world isn't it Jal Sylver?" her eyes held nothing but contempt for him, but still...they were so alluring! So....inviting. They were evil yes....but attractive as well. Still though, he drew back, snarling at her a bit.
"What are you doing here? Are you in league with Spindrick?" he hissed lowly, so that no beast else would hear him.
"Spindrick? Heavens no! Why would I work with a Galdean Jal Sylver? You know I despise your kind." he narrowed his eyes at her. He realized though that Miri might be concerned at how he'd been cornered like this. Turning in her direction, he mouthed the words "Keep going!" to her, not wanting her to stop. "I've never worked with him...and never will." the lemming was saying.
"Then...what are you doing here? Surely not here for the view OR the plants!" Sveltlana snorted at his tone.
"Hardly.....I'm after what you're after Montegu...." she said, addressing him by his first name. Hearing that made his knees a bit wobbly. She had said it in such a....seductive manner. But he had to get a grip here!
"You want the Crown Jewels then?" he asked angrily under his breath.
"Of course my dear Montegu.....such lustrous gems.....they would be quite useful in financing my bid for power back home in Slattland...wouldn't you agree?" she asked, fluttering her eyes a bit too innocently at him. He swallowed.
"Get out." he motioned with his head. "You've no business here."
"But I've committed no crime....you can do nothing to me Montegu." she leaned in close to him. "Why not..." but she stopped, because suddenly, Spindrick decided to turn around....well in reality he was reaching down for a leather bag at his side, but he thought he saw something that caught his eye as he did so. Wait....was that.....but Sveltlana reacted quickly, and mashed Monty against her, turning her back to Spindrick so that he could see neither of them and planting her tender lips upon Monty's snout.
Monty was so surprised he couldn't react....and then it was over. She pulled away just as quickly as she had advanced, Spindrick having not seen either of their faces at all. Eh well.....his cousin would never kiss a lemming, so it couldn't have been Monty, Spindrick told himself. Monty, for his part, merely stared wide eyed at her, in disbelief.
"Oh don't give me that look. You enjoyed that. Besides I covered for BOTH of us." she snickered.
"Why?" was all he could ask.
"Because...we're after the same thing."
"I will NEVER work with you on anything!" he said, glowering at her darkly. "And how DARE you kiss me like that! You know full well that...."
"Oh shush....your cousin's bound to notice you...why not stick with me for the moment...he wouldn't ever dream looking out for a lemming AND a weasel...one or the other sure...but not the both of us." she offered him her arm. Monty of course refused. He didn't trust her. She tried to kill him every time they met. "Oh come on Montegu....you want him looking over here again and seeing you? I can only pull that stunt so many times you know." she said, giving him a flirtatious if not a bit of a dark wink. Growling, he reluctantly looped his arm around hers. "Pretend to point at the flowers.....I'll try and catch their conversation." the lemming stated as they started walking.
"Make sure you tell me if there's trouble....or if Miri needs assistance. I MEAN that Sveltlana. Do NOT endanger my partner!" he nodded over at Miri as he said these things, indicating everything was fine with him. His face showed his clear agitation however. She was keeping him on the far side of the table....she was closer to it, she would be the one listening in. "Sveltlana?" he asked again, squeezing her arm with his as a warning.
"Fine...fine Jal Sylver. Whatever you say." she purred. "Start pointing at the flowers....pretend to make make conversation." she instructed. Growling again, he began to slip into his role, acting like an amused tourist on an outing with his.....well something, and secretly hoping that Miri was doing alright with Spindrick.

Miri flashed a brilliant smile towards Spindrick. "Oh, no worries sir." Her smile went wider, if that was possible. "I too am Galdean." She didn't try to stifle the laugh that bubbled up, as it always did when she saw beasts bending over backwards to avoid offending the blind, it all the more ironic since she could watch his face as he did so. Very funny to watch. She took a deep breath, so she could explain her laugh.
"Sir, you don't have to avoid certain words or phrases around me," She changed her smile to one that said basically 'I am resigned to be the beast I was created to be'. Miri listened to him explain, but her attention was grabbed when she noticed Monty and a lemming... wait that was that hussy from earlier! The one who had tongue tied Boss when they had crossed paths, though he seemed to be holding his own against her this time. As Spindrick turned to get something, she saw Hussy lean forward and, Miri turned her face, knowing that if she kept watching, either she would give herself away by going up and helping Boss, or by laughing at the outraged look that she knew Monty would be wearing. She peeked, and had trouble not laughing. yep he was mad! She did catch Monty's nod before she looked away.
By now Miri had to refocus on Spindrick. "I come here often, after I moved from Galdea. As to what brings me here," She waved a paw behind them, motioning a paw at all of the flowers. "I love to smell the flowers, though I usually bring somebeast with me so I can wander the paths, but he couldn't come today. So I came just to sit and smell them." She said all of this with an almost unwavering gentle smile.
After a moment, she put a paw to her mouth, as she was more of an airhead than some. "O my goodness, I forgot to introduce myself," She put a paw out over the table, pointing in the general direction of Spindrick, "I am Miranda Telos, but most beasts call me Mira."

Spindrick had been putting his paper away into his bag when he turned. He figured on saving this edition....it was about the theft of the Crown Jewels after all. "Ah yes. Spindrick. Spindrick Sylver, at your service." he said, shaking her paw in a friendly manner. "Nothing like the smell of flowers I suppose...." her mention of flowers reminded him of his own attempt at poisoning the flowerpots of the gala back in Galdea when he had tried to put the entire city to sleep. Too bad his cousin had foiled that one.....
"Well shame about your friend. The gardens here are quiet nice this time of year." he said, finishing off his pastry and trying to work on his coffee now. "If you like, after I finish my drink here, I could lead you around. I have some time....I'm actually waiting for somebeast too you see. He hasn't shown up...but then again cousins can be so unpredictable can't they?" he asked, smirking now as he thought about Monty. Why wasn't he here? Surely he was smart enough to figure out his message. But just to be sure....he took a look around him.
He could see many beasts walking the gardens but....no sign of Monty. There was that odd weasel and lemming couple...which most definitely was NOT his cousin. His cousin never dated as far as he knew, and was supposed to be immune to the charms of females. Fortunately for Monty, Sveltlana kept him on the far side of the table, always in front of him and Spindrick, and even more fortunately, Spindrick did not know about Sveltlana.
"So...Countess...what are they saying?" Monty asked the lemming.
"Dark and secret things." she said, catching Spindrick's eye but having no more than a lingering glance as he turned his attention back to Miri.
"Tell me what they're saying Sveltlana!" Monty growled, pointing at some flowers and pretending to admire them. "Sveltlana?" he asked again, as the lemming said nothing. "Alright....no more games....tell me now or..."
"Or you'll what? Draw your gun on me and...." but she paused...as that's precisely what Monty had done. He kept her body close to his to conceal it, and he glared at her with dark eyes. "Pfft....you wouldn't shoot me Montegu! Who are you fooling here? You're too much of a goody two shoes....put the gun away....that's no way to get kisses from the female you admire after all." she gave him another seductive smile that caused his own resolve to wither. She was right......he was above shooting her.....just as he was against killing in general unless he had to. Sighing, he replaced the gun in his coat.
"Good boy..." she told him, running a paw through his cheekfur, causing him to quiver a bit. "See? That's what I love about you....I know how attractive you find me....and it makes you so easy to manipulate. The way you melt under my gaze....the way your body shakes a bit everytime I reach out....."
"Alright!" he said, cutting her off. "Just tell me what they're saying!"
"I guess a female can't have her fun....very well...it's just been small talk so far. Hi my name is so and so, and what brings you here, and I believe your cousin offered to escort her as part of her cover story. He mentioned he was waiting for someone....would that someone be you?" she asked innocently.
"Probably..." wait! Why had he just told her that!? Urgh! Curse him and his weakness! "Look....we'll shadow them if they start moving. I'm hoping Miri can find something out....then we can move in. I'll take my cousin into custody."
"With this many beasts? Montegu....has the proximity of my lustrous pelt clouded your judgment? Oh wait.....silly question. I don't think just moving up to him and trying to 'bring him in' would be such a good idea." she said, the last part more serious than before. As much as he hated to admit this....Sveltlana was actually right. He couldn't just draw his gun this close to the King's palace. There were too many guards....too many bystanders. And why the HECK had he said "we" move in? He wasn't working with Sveltlana after all.
They continued walking, Sveltlana training her ears on the table...but suddenly, Monty stopped her. "Wait!" he said, holding her back.
"What is it? What's wrong?" she asked, looking ahead of her.
"There....the muskrat leaning on the courtyard wall." the weasel explained, nodding at a portly muskrat that was dressed shabbily, as if his wardrobe came off the streets.
"What about him?" asked Sveltlana.
"He's just....wrong. He's holding a paper and not reading it.....he's continually glancing over at Spindrick's table. He's either law enforcement....or a confederate. My guess is on the latter." Monty stated.
"Are you sure?" the lemming Countess asked.
"Yes....everybeast here is either with somebeast else, or doing some sort of activity, like reading or drawing or something. We should avoid him...just in case. Here....start walking towards the ice cream cart. Don't make eye contact, don't even look at him. Keep listening in to what Miri and Spindrick are saying." Monty said quietly, letting Sveltlana lead the way. They still had their arms looped together, and Monty was still out of Spindrick's line of sight thanks to the lemming. He thought quickly. He didn't want to risk his face being shown to the muskrat, and so he stopped at a flower caught, bought a bouquet, and pawed it over to Sveltlana right as they passed by the suspicious rodent. "Here you are dear!" he said loudly, raising the bouquet right as they went by, conveniently blocking his face from the muskrat's eyes. The muskrat was fooled, and wasn't able to see Monty's face as he went by...nor did he give the weasel a second thought as they passed him.
"What the devil are you....?" Sveltlana asked, but Monty shushed her with a finger.
"Just take them....I wanted to block my face when we walked by.....come on keep up the act." he said, pleading with his eyes at her. Shrugging, Sveltlana took the flowers and pretended to admire them as they walked behind Miri now and in front of Spindrick. Sprindrick looked once again briefly at the pair...but their backs were to him and he was thrown off by the fact that it was a weasel AND a lemming. His cousin just didn't date.
The two of them stopped at the ice cream cart, out of sight now of the muskrat and within earshot of Spindrick's table. Sveltlana kept her ears peeled while Monty ordered ice cream.

Miri did her level best to keep Monty in her sight, without turning her head, she had noticed a muskrat watching the table, and she hoped that Monty had noticed him. Well he seemed to have when he blocked his face from being seen by him. Miri tried to hid the surprise when Spindrick offered to lead her around the garden. Instead she let delight color her expression.
A wide smile lit up her face and she said. "O would you Jal Sylver?" She clapped her paws together in front of her. "I do so love the flowers, especially the roses." She felt her chest relax the rose garden was in the opposite direction of where Monty and Svetlana stood.
