"Ah! Well then....allow me to guide you then Jis Telos." He said, standing up to stretch, his eyes wandering back over to where Monty and Sveltlana were standing. Who WAS that mysterious jack? He looked like....Monty but..his cousin wasn't all that in to dating. Reaching down, he picked up his leather briefcase and then hesitated before walking off. Wait...she was blind.....
"Um.....here...." he said, reaching out slowly and taking her free paw. "I'll just lead you around." he said, gulping nervously. What would others think of him? Would they think he was dating a blind weasel? The servant of a blind weasel? The blind weasel's brother? Well...whatever...he would stay long here anyways. He began to lead the way to the central fountain and the rose beds that stretched some distance away.
"Montegu...I think they're moving." Sveltlana murmured into his ear as he received the ice cream cone.
"Alright. You want the ice cream?"
"No." she said simply. "You have it."
Sighing the jack began to lick at the dessert. He didn't really FEEL like having ice cream right now.....Sveltlana was proving to be more annoying by the moment....but then again he DID give her flowers...and she was holding those with her free paw, her other arm looped about his arm. She didn't really have any free extremities at the moment. "Why are you doing this? Why can't you just be respectable...upstanding jill of society?" Monty said, a bit forlornly. "I think I'd like you far better if you were...."
"If I cared what you thought about me Montegu Sylver....I doubt we'd ever have met." she said haughtily. "You could always enter into a life of crime." she said suggestively. "I would find you far more to my tastes then you know...." she purred.
"It seems we have trouble fulfilling each other's expectations." Monty said, with another sigh. If only he could change her.....get her to see the error of her ways. Do SOMETHING to bring her around. It was something he was desirous of and yet.....couldn't achieve just yet. They began to walk after Spindrick and Miri, Monty preparing to end this little charade any moment now. "I want to try and accost him somehow."
"For what crime?" Sveltlana asked. "Do you think you'd be able to get away with it?"
"Well....talk to him at least...he DOES want me to meet him here after all." They were following about 20 paces behind the two, but off on a side path, not directly behind them, and Sveltlana was closer to Spindrick than Monty was, once again obscuring his face.
"Well here we are! In the midst of the rose beds!" Spindrick spread his arms, setting his case down momentarily. Monty narrowed his eyes, his attention fixed on that case. He had to take it! See what was inside of it....see if perhaps.....whatever was inside might provide them with some clues. Leaning forward a bit so that Miri could see him, he mouthed the words "Distract him" to her, hoping she'd understand as he pointed just ever so slightly down at Spindrick's briefcase and then moved his claw up to his chest, hoping she'd get the message that he wanted to steal the baggage. "I bet you can smell them alright can't you?" Monty's anarchist cousin said to Miri as he turned to face her, letting go of her paw in the process and feeling better about it.
"What are you planning?" Sveltlana asked, keeping her eyes on Spindrick.
"You'll find out." Monty stated simply, not elaborating.

Miri kept the pleasant smile on her face as she followed along beside making sure she only avoided what she brushed up against, it was harder than it looked when your eye’s actually work… She stopped just a half pace off of when Spindrick did. She listened to him, turning her head in the vague direction of his voice. “Oh, I can smell them just fine,” As she turned towards him, she caught sight of Monty and Svetlana. Miri was able to guess what Monty wanted from the movement of his paws, she was having a hard time seeing his face because of the dark glasses she had on.
Just barely nodding to Monty she turned back to the roses, she gritted her teeth, knowing what she was about to do would really hurt… She paced forward a little bit farther towards the flowers, purposely moving so she would set herself to trip on a largish stone that was in the path. She turned her face back towards Spindrick, calling softly “Jal Sylver would you mi… ack!” as she was calling she purposely slipped on the rock, falling directly into the rose’s, the one thing she did make sure of though was the fact that she held onto her glasses, not knowing how long she would have to keep up the charade of being blind. She laid sprawled in the roses, wishing that she had chosen a plant that didn’t have thorns…

Both Monty and Spindrick were rather shocked at the sudden stumble of the jill into the rose bed. For just a brief second, Monty mistook the occurrence for more than just an act. No! This wasn't good! He started forward but was held back by Sveltlana, who still had her arm wrapped around his own. "I hope you were going to retrieve the case...and not to help your friend there." she said, bringing him back to reality. "She's just acting...albeit in a rather painful way. Not sure I would have chosen such a method but....." she shrugged, personally not caring whether Monty or his ilk hurt themselves retrieving the crown jewels or not.
"Right...but blast.....she's really taking this thing....extremely." the weasel detective said, biting his lower lip. "I'll have to....increase her pay for that and hope she's alright." He started forward, Sveltlana finally letting him go. Spindrick had been just as equally surprised by her fall, and had tried to catch her, but to little avail as she slid past his clutching paws and down into the roses.
"Yowch!" Spindrick thought to himself, though not voicing this. "Good heavens! Jis Telos! Are you alright!?" he asked, bending down and trying to drag the hapless jill out of the thorns. "You really must be careful around roses..." he was saying, just as Monty approached him from an off angle and snagged his briefcase. Spindrick caught a movement behind him and turned around as he was pulling Miri up to notice that his briefcase was now missing. His eyes darted about, trying to notice who had taken it whilst at the same time attempting to console the jill in his arms. He was getting frustrated at this! Was this all just an act in order to steal his belongings? Was his cousin here after all?
He was growing a bit angry at this, but just in case this jill WASN'T a liar well...he stayed with her, his eyes frantically shooting this way and that, but failing to find the beast who had taken his briefcase his grip tightened a tad unconsciously on Miri's arm. "I erm....hope you aren't too badly hurt..." he said, gritting his teeth and shifting his attention reluctantly back to her. He was about to ask her if she had seen his briefcase but then wanted to smack himself again. Of course she hadn't...she was blind....or was she? He was beginning to doubt everything around him now. He suspected Monty of being close by....it was TOO convenient to have been a coincidence.
Monty, for his part, was making fast tracks by a roundabout route to Sveltlana. He was motioned desperately for her to help him by heading over to a bench. The lemming Countess obliged, unsure of what he had up his sleeve. Her eyes looked over at Monty's cousin, noticing that he might in fact discover Monty before he made. Come on.....she urged him silently, wanting to kick herself for actually hoping he would do something right for once. Monty could feel Spindrick's eyes searching the place....knew he was almost out of time in the open like this....he would have one chance....one chance only....but to go about doing it...it made him shudder.
Jogging now, he hastily slid the case under and behind the bench and out of sight, and hastily sat down next to the lemming, her inquisitive face trying to search him for answers as he hesitated.....but then seeing Spindrick's head turning in his direction, he quickly mashed his lips against hers, duplicating their mock kiss from before. He angled himself so as to have his back to Spindrick and he focused on nothing but keeping up the charade. Kissing Sveltlana, especially when she seemed to tease him a bit by getting into the role herself, caused the detective's stomach to nervously churn and his heart to beat just a tad faster in his chest. This was rather exhilarating! Just like in one of those mystery novels he'd read from time to time.
Spindrick frowned over at the two of them. That couple....something was TOO fishy about them. He glowered at them, this time keeping his eyes fixed over there as he wanted to catch sight of that weasel's face. Monty finally broke the kiss, but did not turn around. "Is he still looking over here?" he asked, to which Sveltlana replied simply "Yes" with a whisper, and went back to kissing him, keeping one sharp eye on Spindrick. Pulling back, the Countess looked into his eyes.
Those were such evil, dark eyes.....filled with scorn for him but regardless of that....Monty couldn't help but to fall into them. "I have a carriage outside of the garden. I suggest you collect your friend and meet up with my ride on the north gate. I'll have us rolling along the street and away from here in a few minutes...IF you promise to share the contents of the case with me. What do you say Montegu....is it a deal?" she asked, reaching up to stroke his cheek with her soft, velvety paw that caused Monty to practically melt under it's touch.
But no! Sveltlana was NOT a part of this investigation! He couldn't trust her for squat, as he was certain she'd betray him at some point...perhaps when they were in the carriage. But he DID have to get Miri out of there, and he could still stay on his guard once they reached Sveltlana's carriage. He had his pistol after all...and Miri would be with him. Besides...those eyes.....they were bit too hard to resist, try as he might. "Fine." he said, adding a stern note to his voice. "But be ready for us. I'll be five minutes...ten at the most. I WANT that carriage there when we exit."
"Annnnnd?" she asked, still stroking his cheek fur and bringing her mouth close....dangerously close to his own, her whiskers brushing his.
"And....I'll share the contents of the case with you." he said, that last part being like poison to him. He couldn't believe he was offering to help this...this rotten villain! But what choice did he have? He would have to cooperate with her if he wanted to get out of here quickly. A footchase might not end well after all.
"Good boy Montegu." she said, kissing him briefly before pulling back. "Might want to leave the case with me...." she suggested, trying to look him in the eyes, which the weasel avoided.
"Not a chance...you'd drive off and leave me to Spindrick."
"Hah...you know me too well....very well...my carriage is black...has the Bogginski Family Crest on the doors. You know my crest I assume?" she asked, standing up now and the detective did likewise.
"Yes of course." Was all Monty said, keeping the case behind the bench as Sveltlana Bogginski began to walk away from him, heading for one of the numerous exits from the gardens. Monty chanced a look over at Spindrick. His agitation was clear. Monty nodded his arrow like head towards the exit of the gardens, trying to signal to Miri that she should get away from Sprindrick as soon as possible and try and join him. He sat back down on the bench, nervously drumming his claws on the metal pawrail, shifting his silver handled cane in a distracted manner back and forth in his other free paw. He'd have to wait...have to give Sveltlana time to prepare her carriage....and then he'd be out of here with Miri as fast as their legs could carry them. No sense in sticking around here any longer. Spindrick had obviously noticed the theft...and would probably not take very kindly to it much longer.....

'Owowowow OUCH!' Was about the only thing that was running through Miri's brain as Spindrick hauled her up out of the roses, he meant to help, but how could he have know that her paw had been resting on a giant thorn? She hid the blood by cupping her paw close to her side, hoping that it didn't run down her paw. Miri had to bit her lip to keep herself from yelping as Spindrick's paw tightened around a thorn that had become lodged in it. She adopted a wounded voice...
"Jal Spindrik, could you please let go off my arm? your hurting it." She turned her face towards him "Is there something wrong Jal?" She leaned on him, a totally conscious choose on her part, but a seeminlgy unconscious one coming from a wounded Jis.
Meanwhile Miri was trying just as hard to find Monty as Spindrik was. She was unable to spot him, though she was worried about him and being so close to that hussy, he had already shown that he had a weak will when a femme knew how to get under his fur...

Spindrick heard Miri's yelp, and suddenly released her arm. "Oh....sorry...." he said, his anger rising and very evident in his voice. "You see....my briefcase has been..." but then his eyes finally managed to spot Monty sitting on his bench. "Montegu!" he said, hissing the name out with ire. "Sorry Jis Telos....but this is pressing. My cousin has decided to show up..." without waiting to finish his thought, he darted away from the jill, heading directly towards Monty's bench.
The detective stiffened upon seeing his cousin. Drat......he rose to standing, hoping Miri would see him now. "Terribly sorry cousin, but I really must be heading out!" he called over to his relative who was angrily charging towards him. Reaching quickly behind the bench, he grabbed the briefcase, causing Spindrick's eyes to immediately flash with recognition.
Monty was quick though, and darted off down the path, trying to outrun his cousin whilst making a beeline for the north gate. How much time had passed? Three minutes? Certainly not five. Was that enough time for Sveltlana to prepare her ride? "Miri!" Monty called out to his partner. "Miri! North gate! North gate!" he called to her, hoping she'd hear. He nearly collided with a startled shrew couple who gave him dark looks as he ran past them, Spindrick hot on his heels.
Miri? Who was that? Spindrick wondered....surely not...Jis Telos was it!? He looked briefly around as he ran, trying to see what she was doing. The case felt heavy in Monty's paws, and he wondered just what exactly Spindrick had inside. They were a good distance away from the north gate....but provided Spindrick couldn't catch either of them...they could hopefully time this right and arrive just as Sveltlana was pulling up. They'd also have to watch out for that muskrat fellow as well...

Miri took off the glasses just as soon as Spindrick ran off. She was in the middle of pulling on her brass knuckles when she heard Monty shouting about the gate. North Gate? She shook her head, setting off at a run towards Monty and Spindrick, keeping out of the latter's line of sight as she did so. She was just going to follow Monty out. Miri danced around the shrew couple, narrowly avoided tripping over some upset chairs, then made it to the clear stretch.
Miri took in what was happening ahead of her, it looked like Spindrick was gaining on Monty, which would not be a good thing becuase he looked madder than she had seen anybeast in a long time. Speeding up so she was just about a a meter behind the guy, she changed path and jumped up on a long bench, still running. She had choosen this one because everybeast had gotten up to look at the two running weasels. She shook her head, wishing that she could catch up to Spindrick differently but....
Miri took a flying leap off the end of the bench, getting extra height off of the armrest, then landing square on Spindrick. Before he had a chance to react, she was up again, and hauling him up to, "Jal Spindrick, do us both a favor and stay down." With that she sank a double punch into his gut, hopefully winding him. She was still cacthing her breath from her run, so she was glad that she had remembered to put on the knuckles, that might keep him down. Miri didn't stay to see if he would take her advice, she was already spinning around and running again to catch up with Monty. As she drew even with him she smiled, hiding her bloody paw again, "Do you think he'll stay put Boss?"

Spindrick was about to catch his cousin's billowing cloak when he was suddenly face down on the ground, exhaling as he was lifted up and looking into the eyes of that jill he had just abandoned awhile back. "What..." was all he got out before he was socked twice in the gut with a pair of brass knuckles.
The weasel coughed, his paws shooting up to his stomach as he felt the air leave him. A choking sensation come over him, and he crumpled down to the ground, trying desperately to shake the feeling off. HOW had his cousin managed to get the better of him?! It didn't make sense! That HAD been the weasel he'd seen with that lemming! But....why?
His head was swimming as he tried to get up. Monty, for his part, was rather impressed by Miri's handling of Spindrick. "I certainly hope so." he said, managing to crack a smile himself as they exited via the north gate.....but no carriage and no Sveltlana. "What!?" he said under his breath. "Where is she!?" he asked, looking up and down the boulevard to no avail. "She said she'd have a carriage ready for us!"
He began to walk down to the left, trying to decide what to do next. He shot a look through the entrance of the park they had run through to see Spindrick struggling to his footpaws. No...no! He couldn't fight his cousin here! It would draw too much attention and might end them up in trouble with the law. Spindrick was staggering forward, heading for the gate, reaching a paw out towards them as he wheezed and his lungs gasped for air.
It was at that moment that a black carriage rumbled around the corner of the gardens and began heading in their direction. Was that the Countess!? Running towards the moving vehicle, he could see it was pulled by two fine looking charges. They were black, just like the carriage. "Miri that's it! Let's go!" cried Monty, checking to make sure she was with him. Spindrick was getting closer, but Sveltlana's coach was faster. It rattled to a halt and Monty opened the door for Miri before climbing in behind her.
Sitting down, the horses were pushed forward and began trotting off, Spindrick waving at the carriage to stop but of course nobeast inside paid him any heed. Setting the briefcase down between his footpaws, Monty sighed and wiped his brow. "Thank you Jis Sveltlana. I was afraid you'd abandoned me." The lemming Countess merely looked across at him with a mischievous expression.
"I needed time to prepare the carriage.....but I did show up. Now....for our little deal." she said, greedily shifting her eyes to Spindrick's bag.
"In a moment. Miri...are you alright? You....shouldn't have fallen into that bed of roses you know. I'll pay you extra for that but that was a rather....painful ruse I have to admit. I'd prefer you not put yourself in that sort of situation again if you can help it." there was concern in the detective's voice, as she had given him a real shock when she'd pulled that. Sveltlana regarded him with impatience, drumming her claws on the arm rest of her seat.
Spindrick meanwhile, was looking for a carriage to commandeer and head after them. His cousin had outwitted him! It wasn't fair! He'd have to get him back...and retrieve his case. Why hadn't Monty just met him as he had requested!? Spying a carriage going in the other direction, Spindrick began walking over to it, still trying to regain his breath.....

By the time the Countess had shifted her attention to the bag, Miri was already working the thorn that was in her paw out, when she got it out, she simply threw it onto the plush seat of the carraige, not caring if it stained or not. She was in the process of wrapping the cut with some cloth from the hem of her skirt. She looked up at Monty. "I don't intend to sir, I actually ment to fall on the path, but when my paw hit the rock, I just fell." Miri finished wrapping her paw, casting an annoyed glance at Sveltlana as she did so. Drumming was not something that went well with Miri's nerves at that moment.
"Wait a sec Boss, what deal?" She said, picking the case up, just in case Svetlana got grabby.

The lemming Countess was glowering darkly at the jill who was holding the case now securely between her paws. Who did this weasel think she was? Monty had made her a promise after all....and he wouldn't back out of it. "Well.....I agreed to show her the contest of the case if she picked us up. I....I AM a weasel of my word."
Even if my word was not exactly what I had wanted at the time, the detective thought glumly to himself. "Right.....Montegu made a promise....so paw that case over!" the Countess snapped, trying to making a swipe at it before the carriage trembled a bit. Monty shifted in his seat, and Sveltlana nearly toppled forward.
Shooting his gaze out of the window into the street, Monty groaned as he saw Spindrick atop another carriage, trying to crash into them again. "Great....my cousin just doesn't know when to quit. Countess....please tell your driver to put on some speed...we can't afford to get stuck here after all. The case will have to wait. Miri....you don't have anything to jam into the wheels of his coach I assume?" asked the jack as Sveltlana spoke through a small window to her driver to increase speed, which he promptly did. He needed no further urging on that end.
He managed to get moving just as Spindrick rolled his hijacked carriage over again, barely missing the Bogginski coach. He slapped the reins and tried to increase his own speed as well. This was one ride that Monty wasn't looking forward to....

Miri leaned till she was looking out the window on the other side of the carriage, still keeping the case well away from Svetlana. "No I don't Boss, I left my baton in the hotel room this morning.. Didn't think I'd need it." Miri turned to regard the other window, they were passing by some stores and such, with an alley way appearing every few seconds at the speed that the carriage was going. She was counting under her breath about how long it took to reach one when she felt the crraige shudder again. After she regained her balance she cast a glance over her shoulder at the irate weasel on the other carriage. "Well someones not happy..." She muttered, then turned to face Svetlana again. "Listen Countess, any promise Jal Sylver made to you was most likely against what he wanted to say." Miri grinned slightly "You seem to have that affect on him..." Now Miri stood, as well as she could in the moving carriage and made her way to the opposite door in the carriage. "Besides the face that he didn't discuss it with me fist, and since it pertains to my paycheck.." She kicked open the door and grabbed Monty's coat, pulling him up She had to nearly yell now to be heard. "I'm not pawing it over as you so graciously put it." With that she jumped out of the carriage, dragging her employer after her.
After a few moments of air-time, they both landed safely hidden in one of Rosferia's many alley way's, albeit they were gonna be sore. Miri got up first and made her to Monty. "Sorry about not warning you Boss," she put her paw out to help him " ..that Countess was just to eager for me to just paw over the case to her."
